Woman called me today.  Said she was from Qwest (SLC Utah).  Sounded kind of phishy, as she had an incorrect service address for me.  I then thanked her and hung up.  Not deterred, she immediately called me back, at which point I directed the call to voice mail.  She left no message.  What a chump!

Got the same call but the woman stated she was representing verizon.   The woman said we would save over fifteen dollars a month on our long distance.  I let her ramble on and on then she wanted to confirm our address.  when I would not do this and told her I was going to confrm with verizon before going any further she became hostile and hung up.

These people DO NOT represent AT&T. They are one of these fly-by-night companies that will try to talk any suckers who answer the phone into switching your long distance to their plan claiming big savings that will say that at the end of the year, you will get the savings refunded to you. You will not get a check in the mail, but a "credit" on your bill. I bit on the same scam for my gas service and my rebate ended up being about $26.00. Thanks, but no thanks.

Received 2 calls from this number.  Said they would lower my AT&T bill.  When they asked me to confirm my birthdate, I told them I couldn't do that over the phone.  I told her I would call AT&T to confirm this.  She got irritated and in the end hung up on me.

When I called that number I got an recorded message that did not even identify what company it was.  Said if I was calling because I got a phone call from this number, it was a solicitation.  Said to leave a message and they would call me back.

Needless to say, sounds fishy to me.

Just received a call from a man at this number who immediately started spouting words at me with "Long Distance service", "drop your bill" "by law", etc.  What made me hesitate is he kept saying "FCC" and "According to the FCC" so I listened and asked him to identify himself again and he said he was calling from something called Long Distance America and they were working with my carrier to lower my rates, and he wanted to confirm my name and address.  This always rings bells with me as I never confirm or give out personal information to someone who just calls me out of the blue.  I asked him for a phone number where I could call him back as I had no idea who he was (and so I could do some research).  Legitimate companies will not ask you for personal info or they will supply a way for you to contact them.  He just repeated his message and asked my why I wanted to call the company back, and FCC, lower my bill, blah blah blah.  I hung up.  Of course he hasn't called back.  Never, never give out ANYTHING about yourself to anyone who just calls your phone and train your kids not to either.  Think about it...you don't open your door to strangers (or at least you look through the peephole to verify); why would you let them in via your phone?

I got a call yesterday from a man stating that he was with AT&T, and told me that they were switching something that had to do with the carrier and my bill was going to be $10 less in a few months.  He had me verify all of my information, and then took me through what I needed to say to the opperator that he was going to transfer me to.  The only thing I was allowed to say was "yes," "no," or "correct."  If I did not say exactly this they would disconnect me.  He was made sure that I knew I had to speak nice and clearly.
I called AT&T today and they have no recolection of any of this.  So I tried to call back that number and it was disconnected.  When I called the verification number they told me that they would take me off all call lists....lets see how this works out.

I got a call from this number (LDTS caller ID display).  The lady on the other line claimed she was from a company Long Distance Telephone Services that was newly working with AT&T to lower monthly rates of long distance. I don't even have Long distance set-up on my AT&T service, but I too quickly set aside that red flag.  I let this woman drag on for 15 minutes about information verification, which she had last names and addresses, how cool it is to pay 2/3 less a month, and how it's a move AT&T is making to get more people to hold on to their land lines.  Thinking that she needs my 'confirmation' for changing my rates, I agree to talk to a third party on the same phone call and say "Yes." and "I agree" to various points about using LDTS (seemingly in conjunction with AT&T attaching itself to the same monthly bill)
Having three screaming kids in the room with you during a call that you doubt is even necessary led me to do whatever I needed to get off the phone.

It turns out that this woman called yesterday and spoke with my wife.  When my wife mentioned to her we don't currently have a long distance plan with AT&T, she got huffy and basically hung up.... just to call back the next day and get me.

How this will amount
