I just reieved a call from a Charles opreator 9136, saying that I have won a Disney Vacation. 7 days, 6 nights all inclusive, an unlimited milage on a rental car, All the disney passes for all the disney parks and rides.  As a bonus I also won 4 days at Daytona beach on an ocean front hotel, and a 5 day stay at Free Port somewhere.  All I had o do was give him a one time registration fee of $287 per person.  He continued to tell me that his company was linked to all the major credit card companies and all I had to do was give him my visa number starting with 4, and the expiration date.  I told him I was not willing to give it over the phone.  He got a little pushy that I didn't want to give it over the phone, kept saying this is a DISNEY promo, you know Disney?  Been around for decades!  I politley told him I did not know him from Adam and I was not going to give him any personal info over the phone, and hung up.  Can we say SCAM!

Yes, same.  And we're in Canada.  Every single bloody day, and they hang up as soon as the phone is answered.   I suspect some idiot doesn't know how to operate an auto-dialer or something.
Also 813 374-0154 too.

I've never won anything before and I gave them my visa number.. (im hopeing im not screwed here) it was declined because its maxed but they gave me a week to be able to pay it if i want. I got a call from 613-232-9826 telling me about a trip to Florida that I had won sponsored by Universal studios. I was going to be going to a beach resort on Daytona beach for 3days and 2nights and then on a croissiere for 2 nights and then to Cancune for 5days; all for a fee of 249.99 per adult. We could bring 2 additional guests free of charge. We would also have 500$ for food and activities. The lady on the phone was friendly and provided her name and operator number but then began explaining the trip in detail asking questions along the way. What was funny was that she repeated her same lines about 3 or 4 times before finally passing me to another lady who promptly asked me for my credit card number. I had already informed the first lady (Alexis) That I currently did not possess a credit card. She pushed on saying that she needed the credit card number to be able to ship us the package concerning the win. In one week I received approximately 15 of these calls several times a day. I only took the time to speak to them once and it is the biggest waste time ever. SCAM! Confusing though considering that 613 is a Ottawa, Ontario area code and I'm from Ottawa and they are apparently in Florida.

A lady called me and told me I won a trip to Universal Studios for 2 people.  Aparently the trip goes to cancun mexico and daytona beach too.  She said i have a year to take the trip and I kept asking her what the catch was.  She kept assuring me there was no catch.  She kept telling me what this vacation included and my package was in the mail.  At the end of the conversation she tried to tell me i had to pay this one time offer of $249.  She said she worked for Universal Studios and they write the trip off as a company expence which is why it doesnt cost any the $3,000 it was aparently worth.  She told me my VISA was already checked out and that my visa card started with a "4". She sent me to another lady for shipping information.  But the lady just kept pushing to get my credit card information...so I hung up.  My credit card isnt even a VISA...defiantly a SCAM!!!

We got the call today too.  They claimed I won a trip to Universal Studios and Daytona Beach through a contest I entered on eastlink.ca (our local cable/internet company) and it had something to do with having a Visa in good standing.  I was at work, so they talked to my husband, who said I wasn't home, and they arranged a conference call between them, me at work, and him at home.

Again, same deal.  $249 per adult to go on the trip.  They said they had my Visa number on file, and had pre-authorized the transaction with Visa - they just needed to confirm the number.

She then confirmed my birthday and full name, and said the Visa was 15 digits long, and started with a 4.  Um, yeah, every Visa in Canada is.

Anyway, the initial call came from 404-806-6802.  This number was the number that called back to do the conference call with me at work.

I've received 5 calls this week. A very excited sounding lady yells a me: heeeeyyy Diane, you're coming to Florida. Than refuse to answers any questions. Asks for my husband's name. And I'm not even married. She claims she's from universal studios. Actually, I answerd a survey a few days ago about cars, wine, sodas etc.. Than the survey asked if I was interested in submitting to buying CDs, Books, DVDs or going to universal studios Florida, but I clicked no. You had to  put you cell nomber and E amil adress to answer that survey. I guess they didn't take no for a answer.  Be careful if you answer  any survey.

I ended up getting these calls after i entered an online contest... where they wanted me to buy junk.

I was getting 3-5 calls at a time, a couple times a day on my cell. I answered the first call where I "Won a trip..." then she got pushy about 'confirming' information. i hung up. after a day of avoiding these numbers, I tried to answer them so I could be placed on the Do Not Call list and ask for them to send me their privacy policy. But, like everyone else, when i pick up, it is a dead line or you hear people talking in the background for a second or two, then you are disconnected.

First call today, they asked for my boyfriend, I said he wasn't home.  She asked if I was the wife? Yes. He's won a trip from Universal Cruises. Oh really? OK, can I get a number for him to call you back? That was refused. I tried explaining he's at school 3 hours north of here and doesn't have a phone right now, and she hung up on me.

2nd call: Different person, again asked for my boyfriend. Said he wasn't home. I asked "is this about the cruise?" and she hung up on me. Grr.

3rd call: 9:45pm (well past telemarketing rule time for calling someone in Canada). A young man asking for my boyfriend. I said "I need to talk to you if this is about the cruise" and was hung up on. AGAIN.  I used *69 (no call display) and was given the number I listed.  As a former call centre representative I find this treatment horrible, but as they're a scam, I shouldn't expect better.  I enter contests all the time and don't get many telemarketing calls.  He fills out a couple of surveys and this happens. Argh.

I had a call 2 nights ago. Again a cheery, phoney voice telling me I'd won a trip to Florida through Shaw.ca. I actually started to wonder if it was for real as I do enter the contests on-line occasionally. The person gave me the details of my prize then handed me to another woman who promptly wanted my Visa or Mastercard number as a "processing" fee. I refused and she argued then after the 3rd attempt to get my Visa number, she told me that there were 2 other candidates out of the thousands of people that had entered and she was going to have to go on to them if I wouldn't supply my Visa number. I told her to go on to them. She hung up.

I got a call from 954-456-7591 and the guy on the phone said he was from Universal Studios also.  They said I'd entered my name in a contest 8 months ago at the Meadowlands fair so I was suspicious right away (never went to the fair).  He offered a package of 6 days and 5 nights for a party of 4 people. There was a 'promotional fee' of $249 per person and the other couple that would tag along would come free.  The guy noticed I was skeptical and said 'You don't seem too enthusiastic, you just won a prize' and I said I was questioning the legitimacy of the whole situation.  He then prompted me to go on to www.bluegreenonline.com to see that they were a real company and then to go to another website www.NYSE.com and enter the symbol of the company (BXG).  I did neither because they wouldn't prove anything to me anyway.  He then transferred me to another guy who tried to seal the deal by asking me for my info and of course payment.  I asked if there was a number to call back.  He said that part of policy was that the 'winners' had to accept the package upon notification.  I declined and hung up.

Got exactly the same treatement last night.  Orlando, Daytona and Cancun - $249 registration fee each. Like the others here, my callers were both very persistant and kept talking over me.  I knew it had to be a scam, but I decided to have some fun and kept them on the line for 15 minutes.  Finally when the second lady started pushing for the Visa number "you've been pre-approved, and your card number starts with a 4, correct?" I finally had enough.  She refused to tell me the company name, where I could call back etc, and I just hung up.

Sad thing is that enough people must fall for it to make it worthwhile.

well i don't know what the phone number was because i dind't appear. But the woman on the phone was very insisting on saying, we won a vacation package at universal, the only condition is a registration fee of 249$. Therefore she tried to get my VISA card number. Since she didn't want to give me either a phone number to call back nor the name of the company she's working for (except repeting this is a Universal studio advertising campaign) we finally hung up. The other thing was she gave me her first name and operator number and I hadn't ask for it. Directly after hanghing up i called the universal studio vacation hotline and report the entire phone call. Their operator told me they have nothing to do with this and he will report to his supervisor about that.

Hi, i've juste got the same thing as nofool, got a call, telling me i've got a trip to orlando, for a registration fee  of 249$, was worth over 2500 $, then got transfered to " the shipping " where she was telling me all about this trip, then asked for my credit card expiration date, i gave her, then she also asked for my 16 credit cards digits, then, i became pretty suspicious, asked her a # where i could call her back, she was also very persistant on the credit card number and said the exact same thing as a post above " its okay, i get paid by the hour " , i then told her, alright, it soounds very interesting, now i want to call my visa Royal bank before, tell them everything about this, and if they tell me i've got no way to doubt , ill give it to you, she then became very persistant until i told her i didn't want the trip anymore.... I guess i should have thought of it earlier, wasted 18 minutes on phone .... So yeah, we can all agree, when it sounds too good to be true, it probably is ... Oh by the way, they called me at 8pm at my house, as soon as I hung up, called at universal studios and what i found was pretty funny, " all our offices are currently closed "
