Caller ID Shows 813-384-2901, Message states calling from 'Global Trust, Threatening Legal allegations. return call to 855-875-2576. Total SCAM....Don't give them any $$$

I answer & say 'Hello' & a BOOMING & sickeningly sweet voice with an Indian accent (his English was excellent & I'd no difficulty at all understanding him) "Hi, I'm Mike calling from 'Global Trust',  How ya doin'?".  Now if you'd been a fly on the wall hearing this conversation you'd have thought the guy was my long lost brother or something since he acted as if we'd known each other for a long time & if I didn't know him then there must be something wrong with ME!  I'm sure you know what I mean, one of those people who just manages to hit the right buttons & on the rare occasion they do catch you with your pants down people understand cause we've all been through it.
Well, to make a long short. This guy is telling me I owe this ridiculous amount of money from a guaranteed student loan. Well, my last loan payment was paid over THIRTY ONE YEARS!!??!! ago & there has been someone who knows me living in that house for the last 50 years so if I owe someone $3,400.00 why did they wait THIRTY ONE YEARS to try & collect it. My dad paid-off what was left on my med school loans as a wedding present & dad kept meticulous records but THIRTY ONE YEARS!!??!!  My dad has since passed-away, the bank through which I had the loans went belly up over 15 years ago & THIRTY ONE YEARS!!??!!  No attempt at contact what so ever, my income tax refund was not seized & there was not lien-on my pay-cheque, my house or my car (I own my husband a big apology here I should have said it was our tax refund, our house, our car.......) if I really owed someone that much money which they claim has been outstanding since 1983??? THIRTY ONE YEARS!!??!!
Just to put a bee in me bonnet........I decided to call the # back.....& guess what? The number is disconnected!  Legitimate bill collectors have real phone numbers on which they can be reached if for nothing else than to take a message so they can contact YOU if they think they're reeling in a fish they got on the hook & just need to get in the net & into the boat! I feel so sorry for the people who are putting so much faith in this "DO NOT CALL LIST" because honestly folks, the companies who are honest and who you would want to deal with would not be using the tactics we read about on here. People calling every hour of the day and night, calling repeatedly but leaving no message, hanging up as soon as you pick-up the phone. Giving you the OPTION of pressing one to speak with a representative or press 2 to be removed from their call list. Well,. a good number of these calls are a different kind of 'fishing call', it doesn't matter which you answer, you've just gotten yourself on a list of verified active numbers & now watch the calls you get. The 'DO NOT CALL LIST' is, I'm sorry to say it, a JOKE!  Just read through almost any of the phone numbers which have been reported by a large number of people and the number of people who say "but I'm on the 'Do Not Call' list", as you can see, sadly, it means nothing.  There was a report I read in the Phila., Inquirer a few years back who was talking about the 'Do Not Call List' being a failure because the people who it was meant to deter are not those who are making the calls. The scammers are not licensed businesses, many of the telemarketers couldn't care less who you report them to since most of the time you can't even reach them back. Call back the number the call came in on and you'll just get a recording saying the number is disconnected or not in service & there is no additional information & there is often a reference number at the end of the recording. I don't know what kind of information but there HAS to be SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE who can find them and stop them but until that time all we can do is try to help each other identify the crooks & how to get out from under their annoying little tricks!  When asked if he thought it was a good idea to get your name on the list he still said yes but only to have proof that you've done all you can to remedy the problem should they somehow in the future be able to do something to if nothing else curtail the problem. All they could say about the operation of the "Do Not Call List" is they don't have the staff or the budget or the means to track down the scammers who are trying (and succeeding in way too many cases)to trick good people out of their money. With the economy what it is & people who really would like to be able to take their family on a free cruise or believe the person calls to inform them they've won a $100 gift card to WalMart or Target or save by getting their credit card interest rates lowered or an opportunity to sign with an auto insurance company which offers a chance to get a cheaper car insurance rate.
Sorry for venting but it's a problem which seems to have no solution and to constantly see how miserable people are & all the while feeling helpless to stop any of it. I hate seeing my grandparents, now almost 100 yrs old having to put up with these calls all the time and they don't need the upsetment.

They are obviously phony!  It is against the law for bill collectors to threaten you in anyway.  Just ignore the calls.  My suggestion get as much info as you can the next time they call like their name, company, phone number, address if possible, and whatever info you think you will need.  Then go online to the FBI website and the FTC website and report them.  There is phone numbers on there to call for such things.  Then once you do that continue to ignore the calls and eventually they will stop!  They have been calling for my Boyfriend during the day.

This number has been harassing me and my husbands cell. I just talked to a friend and apparently they are calling her asking for my husband. Saying their name is global trust and from Florida, Tampa. This same kind of thing happened to my brother in California with a different  scammer. I'm in TX and they are full of s***! Do not talk to them and report number immediately!!

This # keeps calling my 13-year old daughter's cell phone.  Luckily she's smart enough not to answer or call back.

I also have had several calls from this # & I just had some bed & breakfast guests from tampa fl named anthony michael.. lets do something about this

This is where the number that keeps calling me is from.
I don't know anyone by this number, but they seem to like calling me to hang up on my answering machine. I know some parties feel that if hey didn't speak to an actual person it's okay to repeatedly call until they do. But my feeling is if you can't leave a message, you don't deserve an answer when I see the number appear on my caller ID. In most cases they're claiming that I've applied for some loan (paid day/car), classes (go back to school), services (from credit card, bank accounts, to medical) stating that I need to pay the bill. I haven't applied for any loans, no checking accounts, or classes etc...It all began March of 2012 when my identity was stolen. Just for the record to all you mystery people that keep calling. "LEAVE ME THE F**K! ALONE!!!"

got a call saying they had something really important and to press 5 or call back at ... (didnt bother to take it down) and that they were Global Trust - looked up that company name and it says out of Fl and is realtor office and I am on disability sure dont want some time share jerks calling to try and scam me

SCAMMERS. get what info you can and report them to every agency you can think of. They pretend to work for the state and that you will be arrested if you do not let them help you. They will even provide you with the name of their attorney office (fake). Don't be taken in and help keep them for hurting others

this number calls me at least weekly first on my cell and then on my work number. Today they let it go to my cell phone voice mail but said nothing and did not answer when I answered at work. It IS a scam. Last week I actually had someone with a VERY thich east Indian accient talk to me and try to scare me into thinking I had legal actions against my SS number and that if I or my attorney of record did not call this number back and ask for (cant remember the name but very american like Michael Smith) there were going to be bad things happen to me and that the sherrifs office would be at my house to hall me off to jail. They said they were from the Head Attorney of TX and gave me a Houston phone number to call at the law firm of Stone and Associates. They have several number they call from both 800 and local. On the whim you decide to call the number (never from your actual number) you often find that it is a magic jack number. BTY there is no Scott and Associates Law Firm in Houston. I have reported this to the FTC and Distric Attorneys office and advise everyone do the same. What they are doing is a fedral crime but only if we can get them caught. Right now it is just a PIA.

Whoever belongs to this number has called 10 times and I want it stopped!  Very Annoying!
