I just received a call from this # while I was out today and on a fluke typed it into Google and got this page. Thank you guys for sharing this information so that I won't get caught up in any of these scams. I do have one question for all of you...are we all in the same state? (Illinois?)

We did relinquish ownership of 1 813-386-2860 (so it will not be sold to any other customers of ours).  We have had control of this number for several years, and we are certain that the telemarketing calls did not originate from our system.  This implies that whoever is making the telemarketing calls is spoofing their caller ID.

Okay, got Gizmo to change my number.  Goodbye to this cursed number.  They should permanently remove this number from service as whomever is using it for the crap above needs to be stopped.

The next time I ever get a phone number, I'm coming to check it out on this site first.

I signed up for Gizmo Project VOIP and was assigned this telephone number.  I've now received over 150 phone calls from people all over the USA saying that I'm calling them with this number.  I'm trying to get Gizmo to change my phone number, but it's taking them forever.  The onslaught of angry phone calls about this damn number continue.

The caller would never said anything to me just hangs up every time I answer, I've called the # back and repeatedly get sent to voice mail. I've even left the person(s) a message to get back with, and that I was calling from a law firm.

if they call u just don't answer it or tell the caller that you are reporting them to the appropriate state and federal agencies and then hang up.

i suspect that this is an attempt at getting your personal information to use it for fraudulent activities (maybe identity theft as well).

just report them to your local agencies.

Yeah, they called me like 1,000 times in one day(I usually don't answer numbers unless they're in my phonebook) and I never answered it. But it got so annoying when they WOULD CALL NONSTOP, so I finally answered it. The man that was calling had a very heavy accent and said I got approved for a credit card with a maximum of $5,000 or something like that, and that if I gave my information now, that $1,000 would automatically be deposited into my bank account. It was so hard to understand what the hell this guy was saying because his English was very bad. But anyways, he started asking for my mother's maiden name, my social security number, my bank account number and all this other good stuff, and finally I hung up. I knew it was some sort of scam because honestly, when was the last time a telemarketer with a heavy accent called you? Probably never, right? Not to sound rude or racist or anything but if your English isn't up to par, they're not going to hire you in a communication kind of field/business. SORRY! But yeah, they call nonstop, it's very annoying. I have no idea how they got my number, but I really want to shoot them in the face. Oh yeah, they also gave me a "customer service" number which is 1-800-835-1397. AND they even knew my address! Creepy. . .

Vanna,

Finding out your basic information is no big secret. In fact, most of it is legally accessible through voter registration records, dmv records, property records, minor traffic citations you may have gotten in the past, property records, birth, death, and marriage/divorce records, tax records, business records, phone records, etc.

I am a licensed private investigator and my specialty is locating fugitive's from justice. Often times all I have to go on is just a phone number. Trust me, anytime I want to know anything about you or anyone else out there...I can get it legally from public records. If you're out here in this day n age of electronics, then you have a trail. Website url's, isp addresse's, myspace, yahoo, aol, yadda yadda, you people aren't as invisible as some of you think you are.

I just missed a call from this number...and I always google numbers that I don't recognize due to solicitors calling my cell constantly. I'm now glad that I didn't, but I would hope that there is a way to track this person even though they are probably spoofing their call-back number. How do they get people's information? I am all the way on the West Coast in the OC area...I have never even been to Florida. That's so crazy.

KC,

1) I have already explained how they get your information.

2) You can't go by area codes any more. Any 1 of us can order a new cell phone number with any area code from anywhere.

3) This number used to belong to a telecommunications vendor who recently sold it to an as of yet unidentified consumer. This is common in the telemarketing industry. This person could be anywhere in the world using all kinds of electronics to route and re-route his signal. It's not that hard to do.

The only way to get any action is to file a police report, have the police contact the original owner of this number and find out who they sold it to...just like tracing anything else with a serial number.

You people keep asking the same questions and I keep advising y'all on the procedures for resolving this issue and it appears that obviously my advice is being ignored.

Y'all have a choice...do as I have advised or continue to be harrassed...your choice. I can't fix stupidity.

This phone number calls me on a regular basis. I don't know where it started and how they got it. The woman who speaks to be is aggressive and tries to force me into accepting her telemarketing scam. I would like to know if there is a way to get this person or company on a list that will punish them

This is the old Fraud dual: Jim Loverne and Leo Corigan. DO NOT give them any of your info, they have been at it for years.

Cambridge Card is bogus. The customer Phone number traces back to Cambridge Card. 813-386-2860 is most likely the third party telemarking phone #. They love using third party companies out of state (they operate out Florida) to do their dirty work.

If you believe you are a victim of fraud please file complaints with BBB and FTC.

Jim and Leo, we still remember the fraud that was done with Coreco Enterprises...
