I'm a fool.  I paid what they said I owed and then they called today and said the FBI would be at my residence today to arrest me because I won't pay their legal fees.  They can go to the devil and back to India.  I mean really, a Indian from India names James Anderson, Steve O'Connor.    They have to be stopped,.  I'm calling the FBI and have already contacted thee Attorney General in Florida.  Would suggest everyone do the same.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

this is a joke they will not do anything but yell scream and cuss at you if you do not do what they want. all they want is a prepaid card! a prepaid card is like cash so when they have it it is gone! they will not do western union or bank draft. the reason they do that is to avoid fraud. and tracking of the money.. It sounds as if they are from over seas and can not speek well. I have filed police reports and called the state goverment they are calling from. and then call mine to let them know. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY AWAY.  they will not give case numbers or who the compeny is that turned it over. know your state laws and do not give anymore personal info out tell your coworkers and boss let them know what is going on. because it will help you save face. they are crooks and full of S%$#

These people have been harrassing my husband for weeks on his cell phone. He finally called them to get them to stop calling, and was hung up on. I called back and they answered "something, something, legal office". I told them I was calling on behalf of my 'client" and asked for a case number. He proceeded to try and get more information from me and I threatened him with legal action and let him know his "company" would be reported. I filed a complaint with the FCC.

This is so frustrating! I wish there was a way to find these schmucks and shut them down.

I tried to apply for a payday loan through "Don't Be Broke.com"  over the internet who advertised on TV that I could borrow money from them and only have to pay back a little over 7$ for each 100$ I borrowed. (You don't even need proof of employment or a checking account or blah-blah-blah to get a loan.)  Well,  I've had the same job for over 14 years and my checking and savings account has been with the same bank for over 21 years.  I tried to borrow 200$ and was turned down. Wh-a-a-a-t?  Then I suddenly started receiving emails from about a jillion payday loan companies. So I tried to find out the terms and conditions on a few of these companies only to discover that I had to fill out their whole application (giving them all my demographic information) and  hitting the submit button before I could go on to the page containing the terms and conditions of the loan.  This page also contained the electronic signature page for you to sign if you agreed to the loan.  I never signed any of these payday loan documents because I could see that all these companies have basically the same extortionists rates and all they want to do is rip you off.  Instead I turned to my bank for a direct deposit loan which would be debited through my next paycheck which I had set up through direct deposit.  A company called Hydra Unlimited deposited 300$ into my account without authorization by me.  When I called the company and tried to tell them they had made a mistake and that I wanted to just give them the 300$ back they refused and basically told me I was now stuck with the loan and all the interest I had to pay back.  I refused and now I'm getting threatening phone calls from this number: 813-418-7425.  The caller has thick middle eastern accent and said his name is Brian Stevens or something like that. (Yea, right!)

I am getting the same call. They say I received a loan from $350 to $500 which I never remember getting. When I tried to inquire further he hung up on me. I have tried calling them back 14 more times but it keeps going to their voice mail.

My guess, when you apply for a pay day loan on-line your information gets sent all over the place, somehow this so called company got our info and is trying to use it to scam us....

Dont pay them, have them send you official documentation in the mail and have a lawyer look at it if needed... Or, call the BBB in Florida and lodge a complaint.

You cant go to jail for not paying an unsecured debt, moreover, a company is most likely not going to waste the expense of hiring a lawyer and taking you to court for a mere $500...

I just received a similar call as all of you have. First, they didn't know they were talking to someone familiar with the law.  1) Verify with your bank you received no many or money was taken out of your account. 2) This company they are calling from does not exist. 3) Report them to Law Enforcement. 4) Turn names, numbers, dates of calls, and amount of money they are demanding to the National Bar Association and/or Florida's Bar Association.  Law Enforcement is well away of this scammer as they have received multiple calls. Also, Report the phone number to local phone company. What they are doing is illegal and the harder you make it for them to operate the better. It is no longer safe to apply for anything online.  Also, contact Equifax, Transunion etc and tell them your information has been compromised. Protect your Identity and your credit!!! I hope this helps.

These people have called and harassed My Sister and Niece, with the threat of arrest and legal action. Thank God I was finally there to pick up their call and told them off! I also, reported them to the local police and the Office of The Attorney General in Texas. People PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Don't fill out any short term loan applications! This is How they obtained both My Sister's and Niece's info. When I told the guy who called, which one used Mark Adams and some Anderson I informed them, that I had contacted the local authorities and The Attorney Generals Office the calls ceased! Contact both agencies and Report these Scam Artists!
