Annoyed, sick and tired of these persistant calls. Anyone got an address? I'll gallop down there and feed each one a bucket of horse poop!
murdock 2011-06-06 20:59:26 Unknown
If they were real they would leave a message! I will give to Bubba's site. At least I will know 100% of the money the families will get.

How do I get off this caller listing?
DRock 2011-06-06 20:59:26 Unknown
Aggrevating, calls often and never speaks. I wait on the phone 60 seconds each time, and it just sits in dead silence.
Marcel 2011-06-06 20:59:26 Unknown
Can we contact the FL FOP and ask them to stop contracting these people? The families of fallen officers should be taken care of by the organizations the officer belonged to. These leeches are only preying on the public and using the guise of helping the families. I hold nothing against the FOP, BUT..!!! if you sleep with jackels...
Sheri 2011-06-06 20:59:26 Unknown
Just got a call from this #. Second today. Only rings 3 times.

This so called FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE is not endorsed by a lot of officer, deputies or Troopers.
My brother who is a deputy and husband who is also in law enforcement as well as many other ACTUAL law enforcement personnel have said to not donate money to this organization.
They also use ILLEGAL and UNETHICAL ways to get money.
Incidents....
My parents were out of the state for several years when they started to get tickets to local events in Florida along with a bill. Well, they sent the tickets to my parent's (without my parents ever talking to anyone from their organization) house. They wanted my parents to pay hundreds of dollars for those tickets and even threatened us when I called them up about it. I told him it was impossible for you to have spoken to them using this phone number as they have not been in this state for 4 years.
Then he wanted me to pay postage to send the tickets back.
One time after my parents had moved from South Florida to Northern Florida they were getting calls. Well one time my mother told the man that she did not have time to talk and no thanks.
He says so fast "Ookay well I;'ll just send you blah blah blah and you can PAY us then"
My mother blew up, she was like "I in no way said anything to indicate I was going to purchase ANYTHING, that is illegal what you are doing"
Another time they called us and the man started his spiel about HOW I should give to those whose family members put their lives on the line for me"
I was like excuse me, my husband is an officer as well as my brother and other family members, I don't need YOU to tell me how I should be.
Then he went on to say how people need to be more giving and was becoming nasty.
Sorry, this organization will NEVER get a cent from my family. We know local ways to give to families of men and women in law enforcement.
I don't like how they go about trying to collect monies. There are BETTER ways to get people to donate.
BTW, I keep asking to have our phone numbers removed, they just keep calling using different numbers. Now we went out and bought phones where we can block harassers like this. They also have called 3-4 times in one hour. They are willing to use illegal methods to get money. Yeah they are such a great organization, I think not.
Do not give to this organization. My parents did ONCE, years ago and they now say it was the biggest mistake they ever made.

Unfortunately you cannot stop this type of solicitation. Charitable groups are exempt from the National Do Not Call Register.
The only thing that you can do is either answer the call or ignore it. If it is legitimate the caller will leave a message and if not then so be it. What I do is if I do not recognize the number as one I know, I do not answer the phone. If it is important they will leave a message, if no message is left, I use a feature on my phone service called Selective Call Rejection that allows me to program the calling number into my system. My system then blocks all subsequent calls from that number.

Number FIVE in the endless string of calls, allegedly from "FL FOP FNDN", that has more offices in more FL cities than one can shake a stick at:
813-441-0703 (this one, Tampa)
786-522-5607 (Miami)
561-807-0497 (Palm Beach Co.)
954-692-2262 (Broward Co.)
941-866-7923 (South Central coast)
Is it possible that the varied numbers are spoofed??
Yet again, there is a "support the charity" post, although this one appears later in the thread than usual -- oftentimes it's the first or second in the thread. That, combined with the "three rings and hang up", tell me that these are professional, hired-gun telemarketers as opposed to a legit charity (Methinks J et al. doth protest too much). Karla's post in particular is pretty damning...

The Fl Fop FNN have called me from throughout the state of Florida, area codes, 786, 813 and
561. As soon as you ask them to take you off their lists and give me the name of who told
you to call me, they pop the phone down in your face.
I WILL NEVER DONATE ONE NICKEL TO THESE PEOPLE.
I ALSO HAVE ASKED THE BIG OFFICE TO TAKE MY NAME OFF ALL THEIR LISTS
FOR 3 YEARS IN A ROW, AND IT HAS NOT BEEN DONE.
ENOUGH ALREADY, THE FILED COMPLAINTS WILL GO OUT THIS WEEK.
Kay 2011-06-06 20:59:26 Unknown
Caller ID says Maxwell Interactive. I am filing a complaint with the florida attorney general's office you should do the same.

This is the mission statement as posted on their Florida FOP website:
To support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and the State of Florida, to inculcate loyalty and allegiance to the United States of America; to promote and foster the impartial enforcement of law and order, to improve the individual proficiency of our members in the performance of their duties, to encourage social, charitable, educational activities among all law enforcement officers, to advocate and strive for uniform application of the Civil Service and merit system for all law enforcement officers, to create a tradition of esprit de corps insuring fidelity to duty under all conditions and circumstances, to cultivate a spirit of fraternalism and mutual helpfulness among our membership and the people we serve; to increase the efficiency of the police profession and thus more firmly establish the confidence of the public in the service that is dedicated to the protection of life and property.
I don't see anything about families of fallen officers in there.
