Well, ol Henry, The Lightning Guy" just called my business.  I was out of the office but my front desk staff has enough snap to know a scammer.  I had the unpleasant experiance of dealing with these morons back in 2009; Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice ain't gonna happen.  And seriously asking for cell phone numbers.  MORONS!!

The Caller ID showed no number - just "TAMPA".  The caller is a man.  

Man: Hi I need you to help me.  Your facilities manager.
Me: I need you to help me first.  Can you tell me your name please and your company name?
Man:  Sure.  Henry.
Me:  Henry? and your company name?    (Man begins to speak over me before I ge the question out.)
Man: Yeah. Henry The Lighting Guy.  Commercial Lighting - I think he said.
Me:  Henry The Lighting Guy? And what is the nature of your call?  (Again he speaks over me- almost yelling at me.)
Man:  Yeah Henry The Lighting Guy  - LOOK I NEED TO SPEAK WITH HIM!!!
Me:  Just one moment.

When I placed the call on hold to transfer - he hung up.

March 2013 - scamming still going on strong.  

Funny how my young and inexperienced co-workers get mad at me and they think I'm rude to some of these callers when I ask these questions.  I can tell immediately by the background noise and the tone of the caller's voice that they are scammers.  They are not legititmate sales people with legitimate sales tactics.  PERIOD.  REPORT THEM.  

It was because my co-workers were giving me heck about it - that I googled Henry The Lighting Guy Tampa.

HAHA! Too much.  Oh yeah Henry you go.  You go sell your lighting elsewhere.  We've got lights.

called today, 1/27/12.  Rude as could be, warning everyone in our office to give the phone to me if he calls again.  Guy was a jerk.  never gave his name and also said he would call him on cell.  I wanted to get rude back and will next time they call.  tried to call the company from caller id and it wouldn't let me get thru.  really would have given them a piece of my mind.

Same story as above.... Today is a Super Bowl promotion (a new cooler).  These people are pathetic

I received call from the same #, but his name was James. He asked to speak to a specific employee of ours and I knew it was a sales pitch so I transferred the call to his VM. The male called right back and asked that I get him on the phone. I said he must be on a call or away from his desk. I then offered to take his # and have our employee called him back he just said NO I will just go there.
lol. Heck I am waiting for him to show up. Will take him some time since he is in Florida and we are out west.. lol

These people are complete a-holes. Told the guy on the phone that I was one of the managers, said he needed to speak to the Head manager. When I told him he was on a conference call, he said he didn't care and needed to speak with him now. Told him again he was on a call, guy said he didn't care and to go tell him he was on the phone now. I told him no, and that he could leave assuage with me or call again. He said whatever and hung up. I tried to call him back to school him in proper phone etiquette, but it goes to a recording saying the number is not an active number.

Same deal as everyone else.  Called our management office and used similar tactics to try and get a cell phone number out of me.  Ya right guy.

called asking for maintenance manager. asked them to remove me from their calling list, and he replied " I can't". excuse me? by law, if you are asked to be removed ..they have 72 hrs to remove you.Otherwise they can and will be charged with harrassment,period.After writing this, I will be reporting them to the FTC

Got the call again today---same girl.  She actually gave me her name this time "Summer".  Said my boss had left her a messge---then she asked for his mobile----then when I asked what it was regarding she said she didn't know he had left her a message---when I pushed that I could help her she hung up----really.

Just got a call from a guy looking for Tony.  When I told him there was no Tony in maintenance, he asked for the maintenance guy wanting to talk about an invoice.  When I told him our maintenance person could not help with an invoice, he asked for our maintenance persons cell phone number.  I told him I would not give out an employee cell number and offered to transfer him to voicemail.  He then hung up.  Very suspicious!

Man called asking to speak to owner/manager.  When we responded with "they weren't here, can I help you?"  He said in a very accusatory tone of voice "can you pay the bills?"   Really?  I've never heard of a successful telemarketing call when your approach is unfriendly and mean.

She called, said her name was Brittney. I told her that I was the answering service and she got rude and sarcastic. Nice. Brittney, if you're reading this, F U !!

Perhaps they have a job and their versions of sales "tactics", but you get more flies with honey, and they won't be around for long if they choose to be rude and obnoxious to the very people they want to sell their product to.  No one wants to be spoken to that way and hung up on when we don't cooperate.  That's disrespectful, and just plain not very smart on their part.

Same as the rest of you all.  Its so frustrating---I just love when she tells me that she will call my boss on his cell phone----yeah, ok NOT.  I hope someone from this "company" is reading these posts.  Next time I will tell her we fired the owner.

Just received a call from David, who rudely ordered me to page my department's director for him.  He'd only say that he was "the lighting guy" and gave "Commercial" as the name of his company.  He said that's all I need to know and to just page the director for him.  I informed him that we don't have a paging system, and he wanted my name (which I said when I answered the call).  Totally unprofessional and rude!

The woman refused to identify herself or to why she wanted to speak to my husband only that she had him listed in charge of maintenance. When I said I was the person she needed to talk to she and asked if he was in charge of maintenance of my business and I told her no that I was in charge of maintenance and anyone who worked here and she said Really? and hung up. Her tone and attitude was rude and annoyed. WHat a Joke if she was selling something.

"Henry the lighting guy" calling for "the maintenance guy" (lol).  When you tell him that "he's not available, leave me your number" he states "I'm back in the warehouse now, there is no number" and then he hangs up.

C.O.C. is the caller ID, yes, it the same light bulb scammers from Tampa.

Stephanie Smith called from this number, very rude... kept asking for the maintenace mananger or another manager, refused to take no for an answer when I would not transfer her.

Would not say where she was calling from, but would not hang up either.

Got a call from this number today.  The rude girl said she needed to speak to the person who handled maintenance.  When I asked her what this was concerning she kept saying she needed to talk to our maintenance person as they were going to be in the building later today and needed to let them know.  She never gave a name or company name.  We don't have an office maintenance person as we are in a large complex-I hate these scamming calls!

Why are you people so seriously concerned about why this person would like to speak to your boss or the guy in charge of maintenance.... Yes they have a promotion yes they have a job... if they were to tell you hey im a salesman would you put them thru to your boss or person who overseas the operations? i dont think so... they have sales tactics they have a job get over it not a scam.... when told not interested by the person in charge the calls end....

Said his name was Jim, was put out that I didn't want a free ice cooler just for looking at a magazine.  When I said, do not send me anything he said Why?  I said because I don't want anything from your company at my store.  He kept persisting and I hung up

He just called again asking for the President's cell number. I was not about to give him his number. I asked again what is your name and number (I already had the number on the id) and he keeps saying that's okay, I'll call back. He doesn't give me a chance to request being dropped from the call list or to say I will report for harrassment.   Tired of it in Texas

Some guy asking to to talk to the facility maintenance person.  Acted as if he had forgot the name.  Was hesitant to give any info to questions and there was the sound of children in the background.

This is a scam.  Based upon the noise following their statements it was evident they were recording the call although they did not state they were.  The caller was repeatedly asking questions to solicit a yes response, which I am pretty sure they would record as an affirmative to an order.  Caller also repeatedly offered a gift of a cooler as packaging to send their catalog to us in.

Anyone offering gifts and/or recording a first time sales call is not on selling legitimately.

Who are these people?

I work for a municipality and James Bradford at 813-849-0783 which simply said C.O.C. rudely insisted I go get our Service Director out of a meeting to speak with him. I offered voicemail several times and he demanded for me to interrupt the meeting and put the department head on the phone. He was ordering me around like he was my boss. Really? Rude!!

This guy called us today...you're right. He's rude and beligerent when asked for details (who he is and why he's calling).

This company calls me about once a month.  Often from different numbers, or different business names, or slightly different messages.  But always the same sales tactic.  "Boy, you're a hard guy to get a hold of!  Let me get a catalog in the mail to you, how about a sample of light bulbs?"  About 10 years ago someone in our company, no longer here, fell for this.  Sent us a case of $30 light bulbs with an invoice for $350.  FAIL!
