ACCOUNT CLOSED DUE TO UNUSUAL ACTIVATY
| ed 2011-06-06 20:59:29 Unknown |
text message from uhcu.org "Your United Heritage CU account is closed due to unusual activity, call us now at 8142090237."
| fred 2011-06-06 20:59:29 Unknown |
same here i googled area code it's in PA not the austin, tx area where uhcu is located

Sounds like a scam to me... the 'return' number given in the text message is nowhere on the UHCU.org website. Also, 814 is a PA area code while UHCU is located in Texas.
Me thinks they are phishing, hoping unsuspecting people will call them back with their account info.

Sender: UHCU.org, return number 814-209-0237, received 10-13-2008 @ 9:48pm, well after bank business hours. I do not have an account with UHCU.
Scam? Gee, DO YA THINK?

So I got curious, and I called 814-209-0237 from an anonymous number, and I listened to a very interesting message. It begins:
"This is a message from the Federal Trade Commission. The telephone number you just called has been disconnected because it might be involved in a scam." It gives some advice, and then refers the listener to onguardonline.gov, a FTC web site with scam protection tips.
This is the first time in a long time I have been proud of my federal government. Go FTC!

I'm not a computer guru. I got the same text message as everyone else and called the number just to see who it was and got the FTC warning. My question is, if the number has been disconnected, what number did the text message come from? A little help here.

I got the same text last night (10/13), thought someone might have accidentally given my number on their account since I live in Austin, where UHCU has branches. The message when I called said I would need 3 pieces of information to "restore my account." I immediately hung up, but now I'm wondering how to report this properly.
