just tell them to send you the court filling papers with the charges and then you will have your lawyer contact them. Ask for their mailing address, and full name so you will know who to sue and I am fairly sure that about that point the phone line will go dead. It has worked for me and if they don't go off yelling that you will be arressted and say "Good Luck" as they hang up, just tell them that you are not falling for their scam and as soon as SCAM comes out of your mouth, they will go ballistic.

A person identified themselves as John Davis called from this number and left a threatening message for one of my employee's. I called the number back and the man called me a lier that I was who he is looking for and is not responsible for what is about to unfold upon me. He also in his message threatened me.

Yes, I received a call from this number this morning. His name was Ken Cooper, and I could barely understand anything he said. When I asked him to slow down and speak clearer he replied with an "oh my god" and preceded to talk the same. He told me that I had taken out a $300 loan and would have to pay $8,000 in fines. He also said that I was going to be subpoenaed sometime this week from local authorities to my house and place of work. I could also be serving jail time. This is untrue, because I have never taken out a loan from them. At first I was a little freaked out, because I thought the cops were involved. After speaking to other people, and talking to a police officer this is a major scam! They can not arrest you for things like this, and there's no lawsuit being filed against me.

I got a call from the same person! They even called my work and yelled at my supervisor. This is getting ridiculous. I don't know what to do about it. I've put my number on the do not call registry so many times and I still keep getting all of these calls. They will start calling at as early as 7am and as late as 10pm. This is getting out of hand and I'm sick of it!

The same voice called back again today,  It was a clearer connection, but he still did not identify what company it was with.  I still am not clear on his last name.... David or Davis.  He said I was to call him back immediately after I got the message ... it was regarding a time sensitive matter .... and if I did not, all he could do was wish me good luck.  THAT is a threat and the fact that he called back both nights immediately after leaving the first message is harrassment.

I also had a message left on my cell phone today from this number.  He said (I think from the broken English) that his name was John Davis.  The recording was horrible so I could really only understand the phone number and that it was time sensitive ... I had 3 weeks and he also wished me good luck. If he identified the company he worked for, I could not understand it.

I would advise anyone receiving these calls to contact social security office and request a new number. When the social security office gets enough requests for new numbers they should investigate why and hopefully they'll bring some wrath with them

I've been getting threatening calls from a Brian Thomas, but refuses to tell me what the issue is and what he's calling for.  He tells me I have to immediately call 814-320-0211 or else.
The individual has a very heavy Indian accent and hard to understand.  He gets rude when I ask him to slow down and explain what it is he's calling for.
I work for the government and he has the nerve to leave ugly rude messages.

I have been recieving the same calls from "Robert Jackson" and "Steve Jones".  The other day I got a call from a "Mike", can't remember the last name but it's an American name with an Indian guy that you can hardly understand.  Today is the last straw, they are calling me on my work phone.  How did they even get the number???  I am a 1099 employee so there isn't even a record of it on my credit...also, what scares me is they have my social security number!!  The guy told me I am being sued by a payday company and if I don't comply I will have to pay the consequences...was that a threat?  The number is a PA exchange and yet he is calling from Las Angeles, CA?  How does that work?  And he said I would have to pay either 3 to 8,000 dollar fine or 38,000 dollar fine, it was hard to understand with his heavy accent.  Either way, after reading these other posts, I am confident that it is a scam so I'm going to start calling them and harrassing them.  Wish me luck :)

So they have called NUMEROUS of times months ago, and i knew right away it was a scam- I pretty much told them off, and they continued to call. I Googled the number and saw all the posts- then I finally go them to give me a city where they were from- low and behold a town in PA close to where i grew up. they gave me an address i Googled it to find a vacant lot- so i called the pizza joint across the street to as them what was there and they told me it was an abandoned building... the calls continued- so i had my office personal and myself call the numbers every five minutes. One night i set all the phones to call and just leave dead air...

Now they are calling again- with the 814-320-0211 number- another PA area code... with an Indian accent this jack*** wants me to get my employee and tell him they are calling from LX Law Firm and he needs to call JOHN DAVID or STEVE JONES back... please?! Like who would believe this heavy Indian accent is named John David... so I kept him on the phone asking stupid questions and repeating things, then called back and they automatically thought i was my employee... I told them to take my number off their call list for the last time... Is there ANY WAY to get someone after these freaks?!! this is so very annoying when trying to conduct daily business- and the threats- c'mon!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements
