Our company received the same scam last month. Since we do not take credit cards a certified check was required. Have not heard back from them yet. What scum!!

It was not a telephone number, but an e-mail address that brought me to this site.  After reading several pages of posts from people who were scammed or nearly scammed I thought I would post a few hints that might prevent that from happening in the future.

Please BEWARE if:
1.  You receive an e-mail from a new customer in which the grammer/syntax is horrible.  It doesn't guarantee the sender is a scammer (the state of modern day education is deplorable), but this should make you double and triple check the potential customer's information.
2.  They are very anxious to get their order - it almost always is an unexplained "urgent" or "rush" job, even if the items they are ordering are very mundane.
3. They always want to know (even in the initial e-mail) what sort of credit cards you accept.
4.  They NEVER want to use ordinary shippers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) and they always want you to contact their choice of shipper and for you to pay them (out of your charge to their credit card).  NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SHOULD YOU DO THAT - THAT IS HOW THEIR SCAM PAYS OFF!

A few hints on how to protect yourself:
1.  Whenever you get an e-mail order from an unknown potential customer, always do a Google search on any searchable info they give you - name, address, telephone number, company name, e-mail address, whatever.  It only takes a couple of minutes and may save you $1,000s.  However, just because you don't get "hits" on any of your searches doesn't mean it's not a scam.  Also, do the same for any shippers' information they provide.
2.  If the order is larger than ordinary, we tell them that on first time orders we will only accept cashier's checks, drawn on an American bank and will only ship after our bank has verified that the check has cleared.
3. NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SHOULD YOU AGREE TO PAY THEIR SHIPPER - THAT IS HOW THEIR SCAM PAYS OFF!  We always tell them that if they do not want to use our recommended shipper(s), they must make arrangements to pay the shipper themselves.
4. Listen to your "inner self", don't ignore any mental warning bells.  You know what they say, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!"

The same thing happened to me except the name he used was Ben Johnson. The amount sold was $10,500CAD and the shipping was $4850CAD. This went on until I realized the wording used by 2 different CC holders telling me to use their CC was exactly the same. Then I google the email address and found you guys. Thanks for saving my butt.

I did not feel comfortable about this.  So I found out from this link that it is a trap.
My reply was:
Please buy your stamps directly here on the post office website...this government agency would love your business.  They may have a penalty for using some credit cards. Good luck!

If he falls for it, we know the penalty is going to be a jail time!

We received an e-mail from this company, Googled the address and it is a warehouse for lease. Check his name on th internet and his the company name he provided and this information came up he has used the same address different name.  And used the same name with different addresses and company names.

Beware this person is working hard to scam someone.
