I am currently an employee at the Outreach Calling call center. The address is 4751 Route 42 South Turnersville NJ 08012. It is above the liquor store. Damian Muziani is the owner. As employees, we are told that the reason we only donate 1-15% of the proceeds we collect is because the rest is used to keep the building operational and everyone's paycheck coming in each week. But if we only collect that much for charity, isn't the organization itself kind of unnecessary? Yep. I am currently searching for another job, as I am quite fed up with getting paid to swindle money from people over the phone. If you are called, to the best of my knowledge the best thing to do would be to request to speak to a verifier, then request that you be removed from the list. If you tell that to a regular call rep (the person pitching the sale to you) the best we can do is hit "Not Interested" which will remove you from the list for that specific organization for about 6 months. You will still be called from the same number in the meantime, but you will be asked to donate for different organizations. I am not sure, but I believe hitting "Business/Fax" as opposed to not interested removes you from that specific list permanently, however we would probably get fired for doing that on purpose. Talking to a verifier should remove you from all lists permanently, but it depends if they actually do it. They are supposed to, and I have seen them do it before, but they try to avoid it as much as they can. As has been said here before, never donate through a third party. Always give to your preferred charity directly. I hope I have been of use.

They just called this morning and left no message.  I answered one other time, and they were trying to raise money for firefighters in FLORIDA.  It's a scam plain and simple.  I defy this group to prove me otherwise.

814 is a Pennsylvania area code. There are two "Firefighters Associations" in PA. First is the "Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association". Not saying they dont do solicitations but it isnt common to my knowledge. The other organization is the "Firemens Association of the State of Pennsylvania". They have a contract with "Outreach Calling" based in Reno Nevada to do telemarketing donation solicitation. FYI, Donations to this organization ARE NOT tax deductable. Telemarketing companies bounce calls through a local area code electronically so people assume the call is coming from a local person or agency.
And according to the federal do not call website:
Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

Called me, but did not finish the conversation. Whoever this is, they are NOT working for any legitimate charitable organization. It's a scammer. Contact your local police department and report all calls from them immediately. Do NOT give the scammer ANY information.

Called our house 8 times over two days never left message. When I called back the message said Pennsylvania firefighters association. But that number is not listed that way nor the org.

No they don't have access to your income information, unless you gave it to them.  He has all day to work on the best (most annoying responses) to anything someone might say.

Identified himself as a fundraiser for firefighters.  When I said I did not have the funds to contribute this year, he laughed and said something a rude.  I explained that I am on a fixed income and I make a donation each year to my local township fire department and could not afford both.  I was shocked when he said that he had a copy of my income and assets and that I was not being truthful!!!!  I'm still in shock by this and can't help but wonder if they DO have access to our financial details.  No one has the right to tell me how much I have available to donate to any cause, and whatever cause I contribute to is of my choice - being rude and arrogant only turns me off.  What I want to know -- IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THEY TRULY DO HAVE COPIES OF OUR INCOME INFORMATION?  AND IF SO, HOW DO THEY GET IT?  THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO THIS INFO -- ANYONE KNOW HOW  I CAN FIND OUT IF THE FIREFIGHTERS (OR OTHER ORGANIZATIONS) HAVE ACCESS TO OUR FINANCIALS?????????

When I answered and identified my company there was no answer and then finally I could hear background noise, but the caller never spoke up..

Caller identified herself as a professional fundraiser calling on behalf of firefighters. I told her that I was on the national do not call list and she had no right to be calling me. She said that she was a non-profit organization.

So are non-profits exempt from the national do not call rules??? What about professional for-profit fundraisers????
