Debt Collector
These people contacted me in July 2010 about collecting a debt, I told them to fax me their proposal.I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. In January 2011, I found out that they had acted, WITHOUT MY CONCENT and agreed to settle a debt for less than half of the stated amount. By January 7, 2011, they had collected $1066.66, or two thirds of what they had agreed to with my customer. I received a letter from CWA at the end of January,2011 stating that they are out of business and not to try contact them. Next trip that goes near Erie PA is going to be quite interesting. Hope those 1st responders aren't to busy.

Woman called asking for Accounts Receivable. Identified her emloyer as Credit Services Bureau (CSB). Was offering debt collection services. Not sure if it is a valid company. Found Credit Bureau Services on the Internet, but not CSB. Our company Controller told her we're not interested, but if she calls again I'll just tell her "Bubba handles that."

Debt Collector
Its Creditors Service Bureau, there a collection agency, I dont know about your experience but they
collected an account for me, it was roughly 5,000, and collected 4,000 of it and charged me 20 percent
I thought that was fare, I actually never thought I would collect a dime.

Woman identified herself as working for the Credit Services Bureau (CSB). Asked for Accounts Receivable. Offering our company their debt collection services. Cannot find information about CSB on the Internet. There is an existing collection agency named Credit Bureau Services, though.

I received two calls from 1-814-790-5627. The number comes up as Credit Services Bureau. The women ask if I needed help with collections and I told her I did not have any delinquent accounts, so she hung up on me. Today she called again. I told her that I did not need her services and this was the second time she had called and to please not call again. She got angry and said I was very rude and why don't I go "F" myself and hung up.

They are collection agency - they want you to hire them - but apparently they do not pay their clients what they collect.

Being BBB acredited means they pay dues - so the BBB WILLNOT POST COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM!   The dues money is more important to the BBB then the consumer they are supposed to protect.

Cox, Wells and Associates (CWA) was contracted to collect on an overdue account in the amount of $17,920. Their agent offered the account a 50% settlement without consulting us first. CWA then collected money from the account and did not notify us. We found out from the account that money had ben paid to CWA. The account agreed to pay the remainder directly to us.

The agreed upon fee for the collection was 30% of the amount collected. When CWA sent their statement to us, they had charged 50%. Somewhat conveniently, this was the exact amount they had received directly from the account.

CWA does not keep their customer updated.
CWA does not return phone calls.
CWA does not provide a quality service to their client.
CWA is not truthful in their business dealings.

Call received from 814-790-5627 at 2009-09-17-1025 CST. Traced to Erie, Pennsylvania; CID: "COX WELLS AND A". No previous record of this number in our telephone log. Abrasive female ("AF" for short): "May I speak to..." We answered politely, as we do routinely, "Who is calling, please? AF rudely (no "please") repeated: "May I speak to...". We asked "What is your name?" AF: "Jen.. er, Jessica." We asked "What is your last name, please?". AF mumbled reluctantly and almost inaudibly a name that could have been "Bourne" or "Bowen". We asked (taking notes) "Would you spell that, please", whereupon the AF slammed down the 'phone, terminating her call. Our presumption: the call was likely from a scammer, or certainly not from a legitimate business. Call recorded for possible voiceprint identification if the nuisance recurs, in which case the subscribing company will be billed by mail at our PMR rate for business interruption. Information coughed up by the area's BBB (with which the company has been accredited since November 04 2008 - needless to say, with zero complaints so far): Cox, Wells & Associates is listed by the BBB as a credit service bureau or telemarketer, dba at 3520 W 26th St, Suite 1, Erie, PA 16506. This corporation's (founded in October 2007) principal and president is one Timothy M Cox (no discoverable criminal record as yet), apparently placing calls at large from 814-790-5619 [Fax: 888-889-5088; E-mail:  creditorsservicebureau@gmail.com; website: inaccessible as at 11 am CST this morning]. That's all, folks!

called and asked for someone who handles our AR.  I said there is no-one available right now - and she said "what the hell ever" and hung us.
