Same as above, can someone's caller ID say police. Would not be unlawful?

815 232 6585 called, when i answered, no one was there.  I called it back, and a recording asked for a mailbox number.

keep getting these calls.  I am in Lake County. The number is in McHenry County.  These calls come even on Sundays.  Always ask for money. Don't pick up anymore. Is this being investigated?

Over the past month I had this same number show up on my caller id three times. It says number belongs to a Jaclyn Hass,428 Carroll Ave, Freeport,Il.The name Jaclyn Rehorse at the same address comes up too. I found this out my doing a reverse phone number search on the internet. I never answer it or call her back.

Called and asked for my wife by name...I asked who it was and they would not identify themselves, just said they'd call her back.  Creepy.

Same thing; I didn't answer, no message left, looked it up and it has a woman named Jaclyn from Freeport with that number.  I don't know anyone with that name. Found this website and know not to call back.  Thanks.

I got the call tonight too, but did not answer it. Googled the number and found a lot of issues with the same phone number. What sort of scam is this?There is a listing of a woman in Freeport, IL but sounds like it has nothing to do with her..from what I have been reading on these sites.

I received this call tonight however, the caller ID said Incoming Call which was really weird! Didnt answer no voicemail left.

Phone rings, says "incoming call".  No response when answering.  After hanging up, then our phone messes up and can not receive or dial calls for awhile.  This also happened at a time when we really needed the phone for an emergency situation.

815 is not just McHenry Co.  Most of northern IL is 815.

ASK FOR MONEY, THEN NOTHING?  SOUNDS LIKE CRIME........

They're back!!! I recieved a call from that number 0n the 12th @ 8:30pm and no message was left (of course). If you idiots are going to call people - atleast leave a voicemail. No name came through on my caller ID, just the telephone number.

Just got the same call Call ID said "IL POLICE PA". I called back and got the typical recording of "sorry I missed your call...sorry I missed your call" then came the automation recording saying the mailbox was full ...enter your 10 degit pin # or something like that.

This isn't the first time I've gotten this. Sometimes the caller ID just says "unknown name" then gives the phone #

It can probably be done for a fee, but can the phone co. BLOCK this numeber?

They called, I picked up because I saw POLICE. The man on the other end asked for donations and when I said I wasn't interested, he began harrassing me. He suggested I had gotten put in jail and that was why I hated police. Suggested I was illegal and had gotten my ID taken away. Said didn't I support police? He was VERY rude and his tone was very harsh. Don't take these people seriously.

The same number above called my house on Oct 1st and the caller id said
"IL Police PA" but when you call it back there is no answer and only a recording asking for your mailbox number.  However when I looked on the internet for the # as a reverse lookup, the number shows as a residential number from Freeport IL....with a name and address of the person.  The caller id is different than this reverse lookup name....This does not make sense?

Have called 2 or 3 times - no message left. Caller ID says IL POLICE PA, but also when googled, comes up as 2 different people in Freeport IL. What the heck.....

This number came up on my caller i.d. today so i googled it and got here. I won't bother thinking about it anymore.

same as all of the above...apparently some sort of scam or fraud...who knows?

I have had this call before caller ID 815 232 6585 IL POLICE PA it has scared me before because I thought one of my kids had been hurt   a man ask for $ to help the police department which I always refuse  call came today and I just hung it up and I called the id # recorder said box full look number up give an address of a woman in freeport Il

Phone rang, i picked up, no one there, caller I D said IL Police PA, I googled the number, and hear I am.
Will a police raid insue soon?
FYI, 815 is in McHenry county, and I live in Lake county.

I just got this call myself...two rings, then a hang up.

Called asking for donations to Illinois state police. Told him they don't  solicit over the phone and if it was legit to mail me something. The he got an attitude so I hung up. Total scam and something needs to be done to investigate these losers!!!!!!!

same thing... no message, they call every few days...they called my Aunt's house and said my uncle donated last year...but he died in 04...riiiiight

I got a call from a person who identified themselves as Illinois Police Patrolman Assoc.  (815-232-6585) They were soliciting funds for a "Do Not Drink and Drive Campaign".  I told them I am on a national DO NOT CALL list and she said we get our numbers from a national database.  I said remove my number and do not call me back. She said "we'll call you back tomorrow" and hung up.
The caller ID was listed as IL Police Pa

I HAD THE SAME THING TONIGHT I ANSWERED AND NOBODY TRIED TO CALL BACK NOTHING, SAID IL POLICE PA.

I just received the phone call from this number at 2:04. The phone rang and when I let it go to voice mail they hung up.

What does the PA stand for?

Have rec'd calls from this number before.  Always Ill Polic etc.  I always think possibly a family member in trouble.  Seems it comes up as Freeport, Il residential.  I think Attorney General should get into this and inquire.  They want donation for Il police assoc.  Ill police don't solicit over phone.  I always hang up on them.  Am sure this is a scam.

I got the call this week, too.  They're just looking for donations.  Our typical response is "Is it tax-deductable"?  His response was "if you can write it off as a business expense."  Our response is always "Sorry, we can only afford tax deductible donations at this time."
