George Johnson just called me too-  and was very put out when i said i couldn't help him out today.....he wanted to help my business but i missed my chance, was quite rude and told me i was not a good business person ......glad to know this was a scam

Received a call from a George Johnson claiming to be a Racine Sheriff's Deputy. Demeanded to speak with the owner. I looked up this number and it took me here. This is a scam

I too just received a call from a George Johnson calling on behalf of Racine Sherrif looking for support for the Shop with a Cop program.  Thanked me for past donantions as well (which there never have been) and called from 815-573-6300

Guy claiming to be George Johnson a Racine, Wisconsin Sheriff was trying to sell ads to a childrens benefit on behalf of the RAcine Sheriffs department. Claims we sponsored in the past and looking to sell the back cover of the ad for $1900 but if we acted within 2 days we could have it for 1300. Lots of other possible ad prices if we choose to do so.  Thought it funny that a guy claiming to be a Racine Sheriff was calling from a 815 area code phone number - the beauty of caller id i guess. All the proceeds going to bring kids to walmart to buy them school and daily supplies. He did a great job of initially thanking me for all we've done in the past regarding his program (which I've done nothing with "cops for tots") and then wouldn't allow me to get a word in while he went on with his pitch.

I got a call from a guy named Larry that said he was from the Morris Police Union. He was looking for donations and to sell advertisement space to help disabled police officers. I'm all for this idea and would be happy to give money for that cause and indicated the same to him. However, when I called the Morris Police department, they said that they didn't know anything about it. The call-back number that he gave was 815-942-2185. DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THEM! They are not who they say they are.

I got a message from a blocked phone number on my caller ID. When I got the call, he asked for our owner. He wasn't available so I took a message. He claims his name is Mike Privarte. He just wanted to talk to the owner. The owner doesn't talk with people that don't give information as to what they want. He wouldn't tell me what it was regarding... but gave me his phone number. Obviously it is a sales call. The number is a Kankakee, IL number which is about an hour from our business location. Sounded like a scammer to me.

This number has been associated with what is strongly believed to be a scam.  The caller represents himself to be associated with the Illinois Association of Retired Firefighters.  He tries to get business owners to advertise in what I think is a bogus magazine.  There have been numerous businesses that have paid between $50 and $250, were given a bogus receipt with an address out of Peoria, and promised something they never got.  Avoid this guy at all cost!!!  Call police if you have paid money to them...

Claims to be with Rockford Firemen.  Evidently he is a professional fundraiser working for the IL Assoc of Retired Firefighters, paid on commission.  86% of their income goes to fundraiser fees and expenses; only 14% goes to programming and general operating expenses for the charity.  Note: contributions are NOT tax deductible.

This guy is a complete do***e bag. I told him I am the owner of the company and he told me that I was lying...then afterwards he said, 'with all due respect.'

Caller said he was from the BBB and threatened to get out company closed down if I didn't put the owner on the phone. Called 2 more times then hung up.
