Caller claimed to be Damian from TVC(?), said to call about the SUV/flat screen contest I entered and ask for Kelly.  Then he said "congratulations".

A call came in to my home yesterday and ended up in voice mail. The caller, a man, said that he was calling on behalf of "QVC" (or "TVC" - it was mumbled) regarding an SUV we had won. He said, "Congratulations" at one point and "Good Luck" at another. He said to call the number (815) 630-4982 and ask for Kelly. I called late last night and got Kelly's voice mail saying she was from "Verifications". All of this tipped me off and I checked the web. LOTS of references to these turkeys; looks like a scam to me.

I got a message about an SUV or vacation -too much static - that I'd signed up for.  I was told to call this number and talk to Kelly.  The message ended with "Congratulations! Call us."

A man left a message about a contest I signed up for at the movie theater or online for either a SUV, a flat screen TV, or a trip. The message says to call back a Kelly Blessing for more information. When you call it goes directly to her voice mail and asks you to leave a name, number, and state.

I pushed "2" to get to a representative, because they called my WORK number!  I told Ms. Kelly Blessing that I have not entered ANY type of contest and I most certainly did NOT include my work phone number!!  She said "well, something happened somewhere".  Yeah, I'm sure it did!  I asked her if she was just calling off of some list and she replied with "absolutely not".  I told her to remove my work phone number from her list.  We'll see if that happens!

I too received a call with same message from an automated male voice saying something about a prize, but didn't actually say I won anything it just said "congratulations" must be the way they cover themselves legally. Anyway, I did a reverse phone look up in the Whitepages and this name and address came up for this number:

Ping Zhio
1331 Pioneer Rd
Crest Hill, IL 60403-8337
(815) 630-4982

Hmmm...interesting, no one named "Kelly"  Kelly Janssen according to my caller id.

For people receiving calls from this number - this is likely from a vacation/timeshare ownership company.  They will tell you that in order to claim your prize, you must go to some sales meeting but they will put you up at one of their condos for free for a weekend.

DON'T GO!

They use hardball tactics to try to do anything possible, any sort of financing arrangements to get you to purchase.  If you don't, they will hound you with phone calls for months until you finally change your number.  And even if you do purchase, they will make you give referrals for friends and will then call their numbers over and over and over.

No one actually wins the big prize like a car or a flat-screen TV.  Instead, you "win" a vacation that has such restrictions (such as short-notice only mid-week trip to some caribbean location) that you will likely never go.  They know you won't, which is why they give it to you as a "prize".

They recoup their costs in people who do purchase a timeshare or in reselling people's personal information (address and phone number) to other marketing companies.  Be smart, don't answer your phone from people you don't know and don't return phone calls for something you don't physically remember doing.

IF YOU ENTER A CONTEST FOR SOMETHING VIA AN ENTRY FORM, THEY DO NOT CALL YOU AND LEAVE A MESSAGE!  THEY MAIL YOU A CERTIFIED LETTER!
