I just got my comcast digital voice home phone service on 2.25.2008 and i have gotten calls placed to 815-698-5809 and i have not called.  I know they say that it is the voice mail, but i have never called my v mail form the house, only checked it on the internet.  What is going on here???

When I moved and transferred my phone service w/ comcast I have been showing outgoing calls to this same number every 20 minutes since March 26th. When they check my account they can't see this activity but it appears on my call history when I check on line. I tried calling the number and the message says the number is not in service

I finally have an answer! Do you remember when the change for the 815 area code took place where you have to dial 1-815 even when dialing from an 815 area code? If you don't dial 1-815 you get a message that says "You must dial 1 then the area code etc"   Comcast had to come up with something to make their system works that way so they programmed the system to automatically dial 815-698-5809 to play that message if you forget to dial 1-815. We had just moved and didn't know that our water meter dialed automatically for our water bill. The meter had never been reprogrammed to dial 1-815. A comcast engineer was able to capture our records and see the number the meter was actually dialing as it happened. (The real # never shows on the call log because the call is never completed) It took Comcast a while to figure it out....but they did and in the end it wasn't their problem!  We all learned something

I live in the 630 area code and found the same number on my outgoing log.  It appeared just before a call we placed and forget to dial the 1-630 before the phone number.  I guess it's a northern Illinois number for that recording.

I got the same problem.  Even if no one's dialing anything from home, 8156985809 still shows on our comcast call log.  I highly doubt the "voicemail" and the 1-815 solution.  That's only because I didn't even pick up the phone to dial anything to begin with.  I just talked to a comcast rep and she wrote a ticket about it as none of the calls made from my home to this number shows on my call activity on their end. They will log on to my account and look at it themselves.  I just have to wait for them to call me back for the result.

Please call Comcast and have them escalate the problem to a supervisor. I have a Comcast tech at my house now and he insists that this is being caused by something in my house.  I've asked them to check this website so they can see I'm not the only one I reported this on April 1st and they have no clue what this is. They don't have any record of anyone else having this problem. The more of us that call to complain and put the pressure on them the better. Thanks

I live in the 815 area code and am having the same issue. This is not the vm access number which is 815-698-5960. Help?

I still don't understand.  I have never called to check my voicemail by calling my home phone, so why is this number 815-698-5089 appearing on my dialed calls list.  I have only gotten three voice mail messages since August when I signed up and those I got online on my computer.

I work for comcast, it is the access number for you voicemail.  If you dial your home number or *99, you are forwarded to 8156985809, which is the access number for voicemail.

Yes, we are have the exact same issue.  Our records show that this number, (815) 698-5809, has been dialed as all hours including when we are not here.  No one in this house is dialing this number.  I do see that it's registered in Ashkum, IL.  When I dialed it I reached a young man who said it was a copy store.  That was right after we switched to Comcast digital voice.  I hadn't checked it again until recently.  Good god - it's been dialed 63 times since we switched October 18th.  Never any charge as the call length is 0.00.  I'm happy to hear we're not the only one but I'll be calling Comcast nonetheless.

My phone bill also shows that (815) 698-5809 has been dialed from my phone several times and at the same time I have dialed other numbers.  The number itself says it is disconnected, but I am wondering what it means and why this number.  Could it be that somebody is intercepting my calls, or it is going to another call station in Ashkum, Il???

Does anybody else have this issue?

I would like to know who this number belongs to even if unlisted or not in service anymore
