When I asked about her company business she hang up on me.  Definitely fraud!

They can't pin this on you without consequences.  You can dispute this debt with the credit bureaus - this is not your debt - it's your ex-husband's.  You should see a consumer attorney - most will give you a free (or reduced) initial consultation to figure out what to do next.  You could sue them for putting this account on your credit, and you can also sue them for violations of the FDCPA as well as the TCPA since the debt is not yours.

Please do also report them to the FTC, FCC and your state's Attorney General.  I would not let this go - make them pay for THEIR criminal behavior!

stephanie is who keeps calling me, about a debt that belonged to my soon to be ex husband from before we were married. but because he was in prison, all his debt has been linked to my name. they keep calling and harassing me about this and the social they had was his not mine. they called my old employer and they gave them my social so now, they put this on my credit.  HELLO, THIS ISNT MY ACCOUNT, but when i try to explain that to them they tell me to quit blaming my ex husband and pay my bills. and hang up.

A woman called the first time about a month ago about a debt with wells fargo which was a farce for 650.00 they called today and said they would drop the amount to 198.00. I told them they were a scam and hanged up the phone.

exact same thing happened today from this same number to my wife.  The rude and obnoxious woman (Tracy) on the other end of the phone said this was a debt from 1998 and supposedly a Sallie Mae loan and my wife asked "do you know how old of a supposed debt you're asking about" of which Tracy responded back to her "you should be old enough now, yes I know how old it is you do the math"  and hung up.  Wife called the number back and got her on the phone and threatened with legal action at which point Tracy hung up again.

guy that called me was saying I had to pay money today and got extremely rude and Nasty.and hung up so I called back, he didn't say anything but hung up.

This call I believe is from a collection agency. This is also a possible identity theft situation. Someone is using my former married name to open accounts. I have not used this former name since 1980 so that is what makes me suspect someone has stolen it. This company has been calling and sending me letters regarding two accounts, one is Sears and the other with Franklin Mint. I have called Sears and they have no record of this. Franklin Mint has just sent collection letters. I have also opened a Sears account just to make sure and I was approved.

Someone called me and told me they were a debt. collector and wanted me to pay them $1300 to clear a credit card debt in thr amout of $11,000 that occurred in 1998 and when I refused to make payment arrangements and told him it wasn't my debt he got angry and threatened me and said he will persue the $11,000 dollars and hung up

I keep getting calls from this number, posing in poor disguise as a debt collection agency. The first time, a man said that my phone was listed as the "relative contact" for someone in my family. The man was fishing and kept asking for information about my family. I kept asking him who he was and what he wanted, but he would not respond. It was clear that he wanted info about me or my family, probably for identity theft. The man finally became abusive and I hung up.

I continue to get robo calls from this number. I firmly believe that this number is a scam and is seeking information to conduct identify theft or other nefarious activity.

Do not give ANYy identifying information to anyone calling from this number. Do so at your own peril.

Obviously, scam caller for another person unknown by my family.  It is probably an attempt to
get information using an anonymous name to try to get data.  Please report the calls to the
Chief of Police in Rockford, N.W. Illinois.

Go online to Rockford, N.W. Illinois Chief of Police to locate the chief and then email the date
and time of each call you get from this crowd.

What a shame that they must harass, whether at your home or business!

caller said he was trying to collect, but wouldn't give me the original account name. When I told him I could not talk right now, I was at work, he hung up and called my work. I told him I was busy, to please call me after work hours, he told me I was playing games he needed to talk to my supervisor. I told him I am the supervisor, please do not call my work. He called back and told me to quit playing games, and quit answering the phone.
