Just got a call from 815-960-1847 on my cell. This too, was lenders direct.
I pressed 1 to find out who was calling me, and promptly got Lenders Direct. When asking to be taken off of their list, got hung up on.
Given what I see above, they probably have other numbers like
815-960-184*.
I filed a complaint with the FCC using the following link. It takes about two minutes.

My son gets calls from these jerks on his cell phone. He is 10 years old and they will not leave him alone.
To me these guys are one step above the people on myspace who try to fondle kids. This is absolutely sick that they would harass a child in this manner.

Isn't it illegal for telemarketers to call a cell phone unsolicited?
Mrs.V 2007-05-03 00:56:04 Telemarketer
They just called me too. Googled the # and found this site. Add me to the list. I hate unsolicited calls to my cell. So rude!

I have probably received 30 calls in the last month on my home and cell numbers from these crooks. Three calls just today.
Anybody know how to get the teeth of the No Call List legislation sunk into their backsides?
PO'd in Baltimore 2007-05-02 20:03:51 Telemarketer
FANTASTIC! I'm so excited. Guess what call I just got! Give up?! I can save save hundreds on my home loan just by pressing 1.
Slimballs. Received a call 5 minutes ago from a recording of a lovely lady peddling snake oil.
So I'm curious to know if this cuts across a certain provider or not. I saw Vonage up there. I have T-Mobile (yes, the trashy service provider. My number was apparently formerly owned by a series of Baltimore's most prolific drug dealers). Any others?
Somebody with less apathy and more ire than me needs to get on this and find a scapegoat whose name we can all collectively curse. I'll be checking back for regular status reports.
Hey I see someone on this list I recognize. (honest) Maybe she's the link. Let's get her!

I just talked to a guy with NANPA, the group North County was supposed to be working with re: this FCC filing.
Apparently, North County Communications Corp. is a local telephone exchange that gets assigned blocks of phone numbers... They're not a mortgage/refinance company at all.
So weird. The NANPA guy said to let the FCC know about this.

815-960-1840 just rang my cell phone at 1:39 p.m. EST, 5/2/07. Robot prerecorded message about 1% mortgages. I found this site and then registered my cell # at the Do Not Call registry. Then I Googled Atty Genl of Illinois and posted a comment there with as much info as I had...

Called my cell phone today. I missed the call, but i dialed the number from my office phone. The message i got was "If you missed our call hang up and we will try calling you later" If you wish to be put on our do not call list please enter your phone number and it will take a few days to be removed.

I had a "missed call" showing on my cell phone. Since this was an unfamiliar number, I just googled it and found this page. I have used the same service provider for at least five years and this is the only second period of "spam" calls. The first lasted for a couple of months and stopped. I am afraid that entering my number on a do-not-call list will only result in more unwanted calls. (As a net newby over 10 years ago, I responded to spam to request being removed and learned this just verifies an address.) Since many telemarketing calls are untraceable, what method is in place to ensure that the list is honored? (If any reader has experience with this, I'd be interested in learning about it on this site.) When I called my mobile service provider to request that this number be blocked, I was told they could not block numbers the way my land line provider can (for a fee). ** If the FCC mandated that ALL phone carriers make blocked-number service available, I think it would go a long way to shut this sleazy industry down. Also, aren't the Google ads that appear on this page, "Find Any Reserve Records" <http://www.reverserecords.org/> and "Find Cell Phone Numbers" <http://www.web-detective.com/> counterproductive! **

I recieved 2 phone calls with prerecorded messages about refinancing at 1%. The voice identified herself as Dorothy. I though telemarketing was illegal on cell phones. I pressed one to talk to someone and after about 8 rings some girl picked up who I could barely here. I asked for Dorothy and she hung up. I called the number back and got an answering machine stating if I had missed their call to hang up and surely they would be calling me again in the future or if I wished to no longer recieve phone calls to me my 10 digit number, which I did.
ilse 2007-05-01 21:39:02 Unknown

I had a missed call from them on my cell and I didn't even hear my phone ring and my phone was right next to me with the volume up all the way. I googled this number and I got this web page. How funny that their calls are to cell phones.

How did you link this company with "The Mortgage Co."?
DC 2007-05-01 02:21:56 Telemarketer
If hang-ups are occurring, consider the text below (from the FCC). I got this link from my state's attny. gen. web link. I tried to "opt out by calling the number back and it was impossible to follow the instructions, so it became obvious to me this set-up is bogus and the co. is not playing by any rules - probably not selling anything legitimate.
Predictive Dialing:
Silence on the Other End of the Line
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) receives complaints about ?dead air? or hang up calls. Here?s what happens: the phone rings and when the person receiving the call picks up the phone, he or she is met with silence or the ?click? of the calling party disconnecting the call. This can be caused by predictive dialing, a technology that allows a telemarketer to simultaneously dial many more numbers than the telemarketer can handle if all of the called parties pick up at the same time. The first to pick up is connected to the telemarketer while the rest are disconnected.
The practice of predictive dialing, and the resulting abandoned calls, often do not allow you to identify the company calling and, therefore, do not afford you the opportunity to make a ?do-not-call? request under FCC rules.
In 2003, the FCC adopted rules that prohibit telemarketers from abandoning more than three percent of all calls placed by the telemarketer and answered by a person. A call will be considered ?abandoned? if it is not transferred to a live sales agent within two seconds of the recipient?s greeting.
If you wish to avoid telemarketing calls, you may want to register your number with the National Do-Not-Call Registry by calling 1-888-382-1222 (1-866-290-4236 (TTY)) from the telephone number you wish to register, or you can register on line at www.donotcall.gov. You may also want to contact your state to find out if it has a broad ?do-not-call? law that restricts telemarketing calls to individuals registered on its state list.
For more information on predictive dialing, contact your state utility commission or consumer protection agency.

i have been called also. this is EXTREMELY strange behavior. it doesn't seem to me at all that the purpose for these calls is to make money. i think that there is something else going on. i think their company name or intent is a cloak of some kind. that the telemarketing company is being used by someone. it just doesn't make sense for them to hang up all the time and not actually go through any business transaction with people. maybe its too conspiracy thinking but the whole thing with these calls is just really weird. it make sense.
If you look up the name of the company, you can find some previous allegations:

NOTICE OF APPARENT LIABILITY FOR FORFEITURE
Adopted: April 20, 2001 Released: April 24, 2001
By the Chief, Enforcement Bureau:
I. INTRODUCTION
In this Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (``NAL''), we
find that North County Communications Corp. (``North County'')
has apparently violated 47 C.F.R. § 52.15(f) by willfully failing
to report number utilization and forecast data. Based upon our
review of the facts and circumstances in this case, we conclude
that North County is apparently liable for a forfeiture in the
amount of $6,000.
II. BACKGROUND
Section 251(e) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended (the
``Act''), grants the Commission plenary jurisdiction over the
North American Numbering Plan (``NANP'') and related telephone
numbering issues in the United States. The Commission has
identified two primary goals related to this statutory mandate:
to ensure that the limited numbering resources of the NANP are
used efficiently for the benefit of both consumers and carriers;

Called my cell phone as well, at 6:45 pm April 23, 2007. Same telemarketer as identified above. There appears to be a relationship between this number and 815-960-0980 -- perhaps different phone in same office. I urge all to report these calls to Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission, as I am doing. The ISP appears to be North County Communications Corp. of Leaf River, Illinois.
