this number called and I cancelled the call.  then right away got a call from unavailable and answered it.  Credit card services wanting to reduce my rate.  I haven't had a credit card in 20 years.  Pressed 9 to speak to someone and when I told him to remove my name he hung up on me before I even finished talking.

They left a message this time. Another Card Services scam. BTW, 2 important points:

1) These are not always the same people. These are tapes that different scam artists pass around. When the FTC catches someone, they're only catching one out of several different scammers.

2) It doesn't do any good to scream or use foul language at them. These people are professional a-holes, and they're proud when they make you mad. The best thing is to never answer the phone for them, but if you really want to get them back, answer the phone, speak to a live person, then say something like "Oh no, the stove. Could you hold on just a minute?" then leave them hanging. It wastes their time and reduces their profit.

That used to be the law, but Congress changed it so that registration is permanent. Now they need to include "charities" in the DNC list. But yes, the DNC list won't stop scammers.

Hang up call. When I tried calling back I got a "number has been disconnected" message. Hard to believe since they have called for 3 days in a row.

Received call which I answered, although I usually just disconnect calls with caller ID name information of city & state only ("KANSAS CITY MO", in this instance).  After several seconds of silence, the call disconnected on the callers end -- I didn't even get to hear the recording extolling my good credit and that I could just press some button to lower my credit card interest rate; or, whatever the message would have been.   Maybe that's because I answered with "yeah" rather than "hello" and that confused the robo-dialer a bit.

It's sad if John has replaced Heather/Rachel as some above have said.     At least Heather & Rachel had pleasant voices,

Block their number on your iphone

If you go into your call log and click the little 'i' icon on the call on the far right, this goes into the call properties.

Then page to the bottom and click "block this caller"

awesome!

I answered and a recorded guy's voice says "thank you for maintaining a good credit history." I promptly hung up the phone. The guy's voice is downright hilarious. The pitch (sort of effeminate) and his pronunciation (rank amateur) ... colossal moron.

Also from Card Services.  I pressed 9 and blew a very loud whistle into their ear about 10 times and then hung up.  I would normally not be such a rude individual but I have asked them kindly to take me off their list and they won't.

To their credit, they are opting for different ploy's to get us to answer. But it\s still the same "Card Member Service's" scam. I confess to having fun with them...as in keeping them on the line while I look for my card, pretending to be a police detective asking how they knew the decedent, screaming in pain after a few second's & laughing maniacally. I'm all for folk having a paying gig...but seriously?

Called on 01/29/2014 @ 01:28 PM from Kansas City, MO. My third Card Services call today. The others were from Palmetto, FL and Marysville, WA. Caller ID shows KC MISS C. Normally they use a "V" followed by ever changing 14 digits. Maybe they're using a different tactic or this is a knockoff of Robo-Rachel.
We don't answer these calls. We use this site to figure it out. Card Services calls daily from an never ending list of new #'s.

Only legitimate businesses obey the DNC. Scammers don't.
You only have to register once with the federal DNC, and once with your state DNC. SPAM emails go around every few years saying you have to reapply every 5 years. These are are hoax.
Do the smart thing and ignore all callers you don't know.

This is a credit card company wanting to give me a better rate on my current credit card. I have told them several times to take my number off the call list. They just hang up on me. I tried to call back and it says the number has been disconnected.

These people will stop at nothing, same scam different number. What I mean is these people go on sites and "masks" there phone number and name. It generates a new one a few times a month. For example You can pay these site "xyz" for a number, state and name of your choosing. Even though you press 4.9.2 or whatever this automated computer generated lady/man says it will be sold to the new person down the line. Verizon does it... ATT does it They all do. If someone came up to you and said I will pay you 5 Million for 5 million numbers you have. You bet your bottom dollar they will and have. The do not call list will never work either

Tell them you know they are f'ing scammers, and ask to be taken off their f'ing list!! Don't be entertaining; just be a foul mouthed b*****d. I suspect they have a way to put a check next to your number indicating impossible to scam. If you are slightly entertaining in your tirade; they'll probably have their buddies call you just for entertainment purposes; don't be entertaining. And do this especially if a female picks up. I suspect they are even more likely to put the check by your number than a male.
And if I'm completely wrong, it doesn't mean s*** anyway!!! The DNC does not work, scammers keep changing their spoofed numbers so your phone ID toys may work once. And your governemnt cant do a damn thing to stop these overseas callers.
Welcome to Amerika!!

When one is "phished" over the phone that is called VISHING. Phishing is what is done over the internet. Card Services attempts to vish the mindless minions who only prove that there is a sucker born every minute.
