called and disconnected after saying hello...

They called while I was in class. In high school. I didn't answer. The voicemail left was cut off on the front end, and went along the lines of "... to start the program soon. Give me a call back at 1-800-977-2091... again that's 1-800-977-2091."

It was a female voice, as others have reported.

What I think is interesting is that the woman hesitates like she's really not a recording. But, obviously it is, seeing as how this number called dozens, if not more, people around 11:30am Pacific Time (about 8.5 hours ago).

My bet is that, as others have said, it is a ploy to collect numbers. And that they hacked a phone to receive straight from a high-quality audio file, which would almost have to be done to achieve the "this isn't a recording" feeling.

Also, as an aside, there are services where you can change your Caller ID number to anything you want. Or, perchance, the phone company noticed the massive amount of outgoing from one number and shut them down. Anything is possible.

odd--a wrong number that turned up info online? I answered, a guy on the other end said, "Hey it's..." and it was full of static, I said "Hello" a few times....sounded like the person said something with "call back" and then hung up. I didn't call back. Call was received about 7 hours ago.

Called but did not leave a message. When I called back that number,a recording said that this was not a valid number.

Exact same ploy, telling me that they were returning my call about credit card debt that we talked about (not). Left voice mail on cell. Female voice.

caller said hello then hung up ,itried calling it back and it keeps saying number is disconnected,how in the hell is someone calling you from a number that is diconnected,somebody is up to something!

Recieved the call 5 miintues ago. Man just said hello and after a few seconds the call ended. The call did sound broken up as if I had bad reception. I probably did cause cells do not work well in our office.
The call came from Missouri.

Just got the call, did not answer, when I listened to the Voice Mail I heard "hi" then it cut out like a cell phone drops a call due to weak signal.

Just got the same call a male I said hello and it was like a pause then a hello then hung up. Very strange my cell phone at that.

Same, called and hung up after saying hello. Was listed on my Vonage ID as Zelk J M. Call back "Number you dialed is not a working number."

Lame.

They just called me, and left a cut off voicemail.  It was a woman telling me it was important to call her back to lower my interest rate and get out of debt quicker and that I should call her back soon and gave me a 1-800 number.

btw. called the number back and a message said it was not a valid number. how do people get away with this crap? what a waste of time.

just got a voicemail from this number.  Girl didn't give her name or company name, just that it was very important I call her back right away so I can lower my interest rate.  This has got to be a scam.

Just called and left a message about lowering my interest rates.

What the hell, TOTAL TOOL BOX, why do we as americans in the greatest country of all time have to put up with such capitalism, my father says business done fairly is done in front of you..... what the hell is up with our country... are we this lazy and forgetfull...???

Called a few minutes ago said 'hello' sounded like they were using a voice changer.. They hung up on me after I said hello back! Weird....

I picked up the call without saying anything, couldn't hear any back ground noise. I mumbled into the phone saying nothing in particualar and got the "Hello" like others reported. After a few seconds I was disconnected.

Didn't catch the company name but they left a message saying they could lower my interest rates. Said it was "very important that you call me right away so we can get started now."

Said "Umm, Hi" after 16 seconds call disconnected

I got a call from this # just now. I didn't pick up. They didn't leave a message. I have no idea who it could be. Area code is from the Kansas City, MO area.

Said "Hello", male voice.  Disconnected after that.
