Replying to my own message.

Same number called me at 8:30 PM.  I picked it up - automated call identified itself as from ATT/Citi regarding a late payment. Called me by name, asked for billing zip code - which I provided. Auto continues with options for payment which I heard but did not continue.  Amount seemed higher than what i expected, but I will call the regular number tomorrow and pay through normal system.

"Your mileage may vary" are words to live by.  Bully Trolls, well, they know better.  Will update when I call the regular number tomorrow to address the issue.

I just began getting this call today, Sunday.  True that I am late on my ATT/Citi card payment due 6/16; it is now 6/22 ... 1 day past the grace period to pay.  I never had this happen before, and normally I pay on time but it is weird that I missed 1 payment in maybe 5 or 6 years and I get these Sunday calls...

Do not know if this is a scam or not, but this website has a typical bully troll bunch who knows everything and accuses people for reporting their opinion or investigation.  Maybe they should just go F-Off - I see enough to question the calls , but not enough to know it is a scam.

Um it could be the same person, because maybe citicards has their people multi task and they can answer phones and they can utilize autodial.

I got this call on Sunday...being a robo call saying I owed 87.00 and some change. After hanging up, I called the number on the back of the credit card and talked to the fraud dept. they denied knowing about robo calling but then said my last payment didn't come in. Since I paid it by phone a few days before the due date, I was confused. I even got a text confirming the full payment. After talking to the fraud dept, Angela from fraud said the payment didn't go through hitting some phone glitch. That's it.....NEVER paying by phone again. So now I'm paid up and hit with a penalty for not paying on time.  Going to drop them....

This is a call from CitiCards. I just realized that I had forgotten to make my payment online this month, so it was about 7 days late. This is a very unusual occurrence for me, and I made my payment this afternoon. While I was online, I decided to check out this number since I had received several calls from it yesterday (a Sunday) and was curious about who it was. I never answered the calls, and no voice mail messages were left. Anyway, I found this message thread, which tells me that it must have been Citi calling me about that late payment.

This IS a legitmate number used for this purpose.  Don't give personal information to it in case it is a scammer spoofing CITI, but DO follow up with CITI using the number on the back of your credit card.

Turns out this is a legitimate number for CITI.  I got several calls and decided to answer one time.  They wanted my billing zip to confirm the number.  I entered bogus info and it said wrong try again (more or less).  I entered another bogus zip and got same result.  I ended up talking to a lady after some delayed robo message.  She was very polite but started asking for confirmation info for the account.  Anyway, I said you called me, what for?  She said she needed to confirm information first...anyway I said you are probably a spammer scammer and she said she was not, but I should have a nice day and she politely hung up.   I started checking and we had not paid our CITI card bill for a couple months.  I called the number on the back of our card, and sure enough, we had missed a payment it turns out because somehow we got switched to online billing notification.  The wife had been ignoring the emails because we never worried about emails before.

Lesson learned - don't give personal info to callers because it could always be a scammer spoofing a legitimate business phone number, BUT be sure to follow up with the business in question using a known good number.

This number is legitimately from Citi Collection services.  I had an old account I started using again... and it was set up for auto-pay.  When my bill was due, it decided to try to draft my old checking account, even though I updated my new account on the website (or so I thought).  So, the transaction was declined, and my account went past due...  and a nice $20 return payment fee.

I'll spare you all the details, but yes, this number is legitimately Citi... and it is practically very stupid that they handle their accounts this way.  They call you with an automated system that sounds like a scam and you have no way of knowing.

So, I recommend this if you get a call from this number:

0) Yes, ZERO... which is more important in this case than #1... don't give that cruddy robot call any info, just in case that # gets cloned and you get scammed for real.
1) log in to your on-line account and see if any account shows up with a warning or message right away.  Depending on what you see and if you can fix things on-line... proceed to #2.
2) flip over your card and call customer service.  If you have multiple accounts it really doesn't matter, they can check your info for most citi accounts with one call
3) don't expect the world.  3 different service reps and 45 minutes didn't satisfactorily resolve my problem... again spare the details... but they aren't rocket surgeons.

I'm seriously considering bailing on Citi in the future.

You are misinformed.  Any credit card company can and will come after you for an amount as low as $1000.
Also,  you have to make payment arrangements. They can consider you delinquent if you are not paying
the  minimum amount owed each month.  You agreed to this when they gave you the credit card.  There is no law
that prevents them from going after you if you are not paying the minimum owed each month.  I do not  know who
is giving you information but they do not know what they are talking about.   The number is Citicard and if you are
late on your payments,  they will call.  If you do not have an account with them then answer the phone and ask them to remove you.  If they do not remove you ask for a supervisor or call  and report them.  IF you do have an account with them,   they have the right to call you.  Until your account is current,  they will continue to call.

You are absolutely correct. City Card calls 5 to 10 times every day starting at 08:10am. I finally answered the phone and told them to never contact me again and if they have anything put it in writing and mail it to me. They have yet to write to me. On the phone they wanted a 16 number account id. or my social security number, ya right. This outfit is a scam, report them to your phone company.

I started getting calls from this number immediately after calling Citi Card to let them know we were traveling to Costa Rica.  My account was NOT PAST DUE!  After we returned to the US, I called Citi Card customer services to report the calls and they had no record of the number.  They told me there was no reason I should be getting calls from them.  My guess is that their travel alert line has been hacked.
THIS IS A FRAUD CALL!  DO NOT respond!  If you are annoyed, you can block the number on your phone so you will no longer get calls.

Claims to be citi bank. But I did not see any number like this on their website.  They left auto message asking if you are so.n.so press 1, if not press 2. The person is a relative who filed bankruptcy last month.
A few minutes later phone rang with number that has called many times before but never leaves a message., 866 220 0944.

I do not nor did I ever have an account with Citi Bank (this phone number/they do use different ones on occasion) is not Citi Bank! I contacted Citi Bank and they explicitly said... that it is "NOT" a Citi Bank recognized or owned number! Will to "Con Artist Trash" that is saying this is legit please go turn yourself into the police because I "have" filed charges against the person connected with this number. My lawyer told me not to say much to anyone.... but this is just too disgusting!

I got an automated message from this # telling me it was Citibank and to call another # and enter a PIN provided in the voice mail. I was suspicious so I logged into my Citi account. It is past due! Opps. Darn holidays made me forget to set up my online payment. Sigh.

I would be nice if this website would show the most recent posts first, instead of the oldest. Lame.
