I've been getting 5 or 6 calls a day, but they all get cut off by my ans machine since I put their number on my phone's "call block" list.  I don't have a Citi card (credit unions rock!) or a Sears card.  It's a pfishing scam.

I have had my home phone number for 17 years. Three days ago (Monday - 7:48 AM CST) I got a call from the above number - asking for a person I do not know and have never even heard of. I informed the caller of that fact. The caller acted as if I was lying to her as she explained she was trying to obtain payment for MY deliquent Home Depot Credit Card account (which I do not have ANY retail merchant accounts I use a single  very low rate and paid off every month NON CITI credit card for ANY purchase). Again I asserted I was NOT the person they were looking for, that person must have given the wrong number in their profile and I asked them politely to remove my phone number from their records. The politeness left on the third call - I got 6 calls Monday, 9 calls yesterday and just got the 7th today. Been ignoring them since Monday afternoon, tomorrow a call logger is being installed and I will proceed with the FCC complaint process. However my mortgage was bought by Citi Group two years ago so under FCC rules this makes me a "current client" of CitiGroup and thus exempt from "do not call" registry rules violations fines.

It's citi corp, they handle credit cards 4 many businesses, they are probably looking 4 a payment but they are not a collection agency. They handle 4 or 5 cards that I hold and they are not that bad. If ur paying late u may end up paying late fees, but if they call u and u respond they usually do away with the late fee and take what  u can pay and give u some time to get current,b4 the next billing piriod. So like ur good old mom told u honesty is the best policy.,man up pay ur s*** dude

You can go ahead and ignore Consumer Advocate's comment on this not being Citibank. It IS Citibank!

I went ahead and called Citibank's toll free number from their website just to see if this was true and asked the girl to check and see if this was really a Citibank number. She spent several minutes looking it up and then said that yes, it was one of their Credit Card departments. She asked if I had Citibank - I said no, I never have had Citibank, and I have had this phone number for years! Finally, in my shock this was actually a legitimate business, I told her more than once how I had requested they take me off, how they don't, and the excuses I have been fed (see below). Her response was that she would "do everything on my end to see that you don't receive calls from here," when I stated that wasn't my issue, it was from their Credit Card department, her response was utter befuddlement and that "you could try asking them to take your number off another time,". Lady, I have asked them SEVERAL times!!!! I finally point blank said someone there needed to handle it because any attempts by me to get them to stop calling were FUTILE. She said, "Oh, I can call them." I asked where to call if the issue is not resolved and she gave me the number to their "Escalations" department, but refused to give me the name of a person I could speak with that would definitely fix this for me.

The calls from this number are not just borderline, they ARE harassment! I have asked them REPEATEDLY to remove my number, they hang up on me, keep me waiting, make false claims that my number takes 48 hours to clear from their computers (it's been TWO WEEKS of me calling to have it removed you twits! And the calls have been going on longer than that!) and repeat my number back to me incorrectly in this monotone, I-don't-care-if-we-got-it-wrong-and-no-apologies voice! Yes, I'm frustrated but now I'm getting angry at this constant invasion of my minutes (minutes are burned up by the phone just ringing, that's right!) my time, and my privacy. I have blocked this number through Verizon Wireless and the first block failed, they somehow managed to get through again. I had been getting calls sometimes 8 or more times a day! Trying to block through Verizon again. I loathe Citibank now and will NEVER open an account with them because they have shown themselves incapable of the most basic reasoning skills!

As of today, 11/4/2012, we have received 14 calls from this number since 11/1/2012.  Six calls were received in one day.  We googled this number, as well as the one that they told us to call back to (866-680-8628) and saw that this is a phishing ploy.  We checked all of our bills and everything is up to date, nothing late or behind.  Then we called Citi bank's number on the back of our cards, and they told us our account was in good standing and that they have been receiving a lot of calling regarding these phishing calls.  They told us to NOT give out any personal information.   This is a SCAM!!!

Ok, I've had 7 calls on my cell phone today and over twenty calls in the last 2 weeks.  I've decided to hand back the harrassment.  I block my home phone  then call.  At first you get a recording asking for your phone number (I stay silent) then they finally turn you over to a real person.  That person gets the blunt end of my frustration with an explaination then lots of cussing!  I think I will call just after each harrassing call.

I kept on receiving calls from this number as early as 7:00 a.m. in the morning and as late as 10:00 p.m.  I have never answered those calls but it is really annoying.  Finally, I decided to block that number from Verizon Wireless.  It works and I don't receive calls from this number today!!!!!

Prank Call
This is a scam- they want your billing zipcode, credit card number etc etc.  So they can use your credit card. total fraudulent phone call. Do NOT call them back or answer any texts even if you have a Citibank credit card.  Any contacts from this number are fake.

This is definitely not Citibank, or anything related to it.  Citi's website doesn't list this number anywhere, and when I called them they confirmed anyone calling from this number does not represent them.

I have been tryign to report this number as well...  When this was happeign back in Decemebr, 2011 Citi claimed there was an internal probelm with their system but never did anything to stop the calls.
In reading the reports online...this appears to be fraud.

I was recieving calls from this nunber back in December 2011 and finally had to report the calls as harrassment.  The two days ago I started recieving calls from the same number again.  If you call back after 6pm PST, an answering machine comes on states that the extension is unassigned and invalid.

They will talk you into circles and not respond unless you give them your perosnl infomation.  Better watch out and check for fraud!

This is NOT CITI.  I've been getting calls for a week from this number, so decided to call.  They have no listing of this number being theirs. I have a CITI card but there is and was no problem with it. It's a phishing scam.  When you call it sound official and they ask for your phone number.... so I put it in.... then they said it was not valid.... i gave them my cell.... still not valid.... and asked for last 4 of social.....at that time.... I stopped entering, hung up and called CITI.

Update. Here's what I did.
abuse@swbell.net I sent the following email to them considering that phone number is hosted by the company below.

This number is being reported as spam.
Posing as Citi client first a division of citibank collections department.
I called citibank myself today and there is no affiliation with this company.

Phone number: 816-420-4633
is located in Kansas City, Missouri.
Its exchange 420 is managed by SOUTHWESTERN BELL - MO.
The number is currently on switch number KSCYMO20DS0.

Several complaints have been reported on the internet tied to this number 816-420-4633 such as:

http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8164204633

I ask that you look into this matter due to the nature of this number's history.
I would appreciate an update.
I am contacting the FCC monday.
Citibank has their security team looking into this as well.
Clark Howard or any mainstream media will also be contacted next week by myself.

Thank you.

Repost by myselt from another site I posted on.

I received a call today from 816-420-4633. She was looking for my spouse but I took the call. She stated that she is from Citi client first, a division of citibank collections department. I wasn't impressed. Haha

She asked me if I was authorized to discuss the account and I said I don't know nor do I care because if my husband was dead, you'd be talking to me anyway. Haha I was having fun.  She was a mere form of entertainment to me and this is my point for all of you reading this. Do NOT let these people manipulate you or take away your power.

She thought she was in control but found out sooner than she could think of her next line that it was indeed I who would conduct this interview and ask the questions. Haha I wanted to know the corporate headquarters location and phone number, the CEO's name, and then she said I have a number you can call about that. Haha. I am not calling another number I am asking you. Either you have this relevant information or you don't. If you don't this conversation is over. Period. She said well they are going to keep calling you about this past due amount.
I said really?
I have no problem blocking this number so have fun with that Chammelle - her name. Haha

Here's what you do. Look on your statement, call the toll free number there and ask Citibank directly. I did just that and wanted everyone to know this... This number nor the company they claim to represent or are has NO affiliation with Citibank corporation. The operator wanted the number that called me today so she could sent it over to their security department. I encourage everyone to do this because that will send Citibank a strong message and perhaps speed up this process to halt the abuse of customers and the citibank trade name.

Good luck to everyone and never release any information to people calling you claiming to represent a certain company.

By the way, after I hung up I did block the number. Haha
