I have had a man call me both on my cell and while I was at work saying that there is a lawsuit against me and that I will be getting arrested the next day if I didn't show a gesture of good faith and give them $300 within 3 hrsm he then "transfered me to the collection department and another gentle man tld me I need 2 pay almost $800 to kee me out of jail. I called an attorney right away and then the police department to see if there rly was a warrent out for me, turns out it was a scam. They have called from a couple different #s now one of which is 817-210-4060 the other is 334-422-9044.

2/28/11: I received a phone call at 7:30am from these people. The middle-eastern sounding man on the phone started out pleasant enough with "how is your day today?", but as soon as I said it is very early in the morning and "what do you want", he became very verbally abusive and threatened me with "arrest" & "JAIL". I informed him that I know his company is a scam, and whatever he is selling or trying to get out of me I am not interested in. I hung up. He then called me three more times, each time screaming a profanity into the phone and then hanging up. (He called me an insolent b**ch, then a "godless mother f****er", etc.)

OK, here is the deal: Actual collection agencies in the United States are legally bound to collection laws under the FDCPA. Under the FDCPA, they cannot call at unreasonable hours, they cannot call repeatedly to harras, cannot use profanity or threats, cannot "pose" as law enforcement or threatened arrest or imprisonment, must provide documentaion by mail of the alleged debt, etc., etc.---I could go on and on about how many laws these guys are breaking. But here is the thing--these are laws for debt collectors in the UNITED STATES. These idiots are from another country altogether, so yes, they basically can do and/or say whatever they want on the phone. They CAN'T, however, follow up with any of those threats, so you can ignore them, tell them it's a wrong number, etc. (What ever method you chose to get them to stop calling.)

I myself decided to just give them a taste of their own medicine, and started calling back over and over. The guy on the other end was screaming profanities on the other end, and I would just hang up. I finally decided after 5 calls to quit, because he literally sounded like he was going to have an anurism or the top of his head explode or something. On the 6th call back, he started screaming right off the bat, so I siad very quietly (so he would have to shut up to hear me), "do you want to make a deal?" He stopped and asked what deal, so I told him, "it's obvious you don't like being harrassed and neither do I; so the deal is if you stop calling me, I will stop calling you." He then sang (yes SANG) "we will, we will F**K YOU", and said he is "coming to pull $7000 out of your a**" (that is funny, because I have never purchased anything for $7000 in my life, so this definitely is a scam), and that "you and everyone in your family will have mouths full of sh*t." So I asked quietly again, "is it a deal?" He then said "you are free to do whatever you want, I will not speak with you again." I took that as a yes, told him I won't call as long as he doesn't call me and hung up.

3/1/11: I received another call from these idiots at my work, and then they called my cell phone again. This time the number wa 972-798-3106, but it's the same lowlife from 817-210-4060. I waited until it was after business hours, called back to the voicemail and left a message stating that I was the legal representation for a client (myself), and that after researching, it is obvious they are operating illegally. I also said, "regardless of how many times you call, or different numbers you call, my client WILL NOT release any monies to you. I strongly suggest you spend your time on someone else, as this harrassment will never result in any profit to you." We will see if it works...

3/2/11: Here is an update, thought you all might find this interesting and maybe even a good suggestion:

Shawn called again Wednesday morning and this time told me that it was a serious legal matter of $7000. I asked him, "OK, I give up--tell me what the $7000 is for?" He said it concerned my mortgage, and if I didn't pay $7000 by 5pm that my house on "XXX Magnolia Way" would be foreclosed on. Here is the funny inside scoop: First of all, I haven't lived at that address for 3 years. Second, I was renting...I did not own it much less have a mortgage. Third (and this is the real biggy)-THAT HOUSE BURNED DOWN TO THE GROUND ON 9-11-2008. So I told Shawn, "well, I don't have that kind of money, so go ahead and foreclose on it" (I had a hard time doing this without laughing). He said "what????", was silent for a long time, and then said, "we are F***ing SERIOUS, we will foreclose it!" I stiffled my laughter and said, "I know you're serious, so just foreclose on it" and hung up.

OK, I had a good laugh about that, but then I decided why stop the fun there? I went online, and I looked up every free insurance quote, every free vacation offer, every FREE spam anything that I could find and filled the "have an agent contact me" forms out with HIS name (Shawn Li) and HIS phone numbers (817-210-4060 & 972-798-3106). Hopefully his line is ringing off the hook with telemarketers calling HIM now. It was so simple, I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. Hopefully every scammer from here to eternity is now calling and harrassing HIM.

Keep in mind...the only reason I did this to him is because he is an out-of-country scam artist; he is not a legitimate debt collector. If you are receiving calls from a LEGITMATE debt collector, I would definitely not advise doing this.

But on the other hand, just think--if all of us getting scam calls from a specific number did this? Their phones would be so busy getting spammed themselves, they would not be able to call out to us.

Just a thought...

This gentelman naemd "Harry Smith", who by the way has an extrememly heavy accent called and said he was from BCI regarding a case that was pending with my name. He never clearly said what the name of the creditor was or wat the debt/case was baout. The only did he DID say ever so rudely was that I would go behind bars if I didn't contact him to resolve this matter. Had my husband call because he was very volatile only to have him insult and swear at my husband. When we asked what this was regarding I informed him that I would file a complaint with Consumer Credit Bureau and Attorney General and he blaintantly said "I don't CARE!!" He has not only called my home, my place of work AND relatives and friends leaving private and personal information and being rude. PLEASE STOP ALL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THIS NUMBER.

I got scammed the first time around with some Harry Smith calling.  I ended up paying 598.30 in payments to these people.  They are calling me again now it Brett Hart and Officer Calvin McCoy.  I told them I knew they were fakes and that I had already reported them and they told well we will see you in court and you have to pay ten thousand dollars.  I told them that until they had proof or could give me proof of what I owed I wasnt going to pay them one more cent.  This is what got me to think they are fake.  I got one call saying that Cash Net USA was filing legel charges against me and then the next call was Payday Advance and the next call was Cash Advance.  I told them to at least get thier stories straight.  I finally told them that I had filed a police report and if they didn't stop calling me I was gonna some how sue them for harrassment.  They havent called back.  Please just becareful cause they try to scare you into providing your information.  I won't fall for it again!!!

I got a call from Marco from 817-210-4060 today at my office, he had the last 4 digits of my ssn, told me i owed money for a cash advance that i never took out.  told me to show up to court with $1k-$10k and an attorney.  I could barely understand anything coming out of this guys mouth.  Told him so and he proceeded to yell at me.  I couldn't remember taking out a cash advance.  I reviewed my bank statements and i didn't take out an advance.  Now i'm worried he may have more of my info.

Bert-

I just started calling them back over and over & hanging up.  I then went and did what "gave them a taste of their own medicine" did (see above post) by signing them up for free offers, free daily horoscope by phone, etc.

It has been 2 weeks now, and I haven't heard a peep from them.

This is an off shore scam call center. Again a new number. For me this has been going on since June on 2010. Todays phone numbers are the 817 210 4060 and a call back number of 972 798 3106 which is a pre pay cell number. they are in india. The caller Id they came in with today is 916 396 0000.

They claim they are doing a federal investigation. I don't know how to make this stop other than change my number. I have no idea what they think I owe. I don't have loans out to any one. Although going through a divorce I am sure that my X is capable of more crap and wouldnt be surprised if he did something again.

They will not provide physical address of the business they claim they are working for or the proper name. I would suggest if you get these calls, put identity theft on your credit reports, the police yeah maybe they can do something but doubt much of anything.

Todays american names fom the same person Steve Rans Steve vernont and Micheal huff.

What ever.

Maybe since we know the script we answer the phone speaking to them exactly as they speak to us.

How do you stop these calls.  I have recieved calls from Bret Hart and now from someone calling themself Mark Stephen from the BCI also.  How can we stop these calls.  If a Payday loan company did want to sue you you would receive some paperwork in the mail about a court date.  There is no way they company would have these people calling with threats.  PLEASE BE WARE!!! I haved received multiple calls from this number over the past few months, once again at 7:30 this morning. I called my local police department after having talked to this man again because of the threats of arrest. They are currently looking into it and have said to give them absolutely no info! They called me stating that I had gotten a payday loan online and when pressed for further information, they gave me a phony account number that I had received this supposed money into. As I keep track of all my account info, I new them to be bogus and told them they could arrest me if needed but I was not guilty of the crime they're trying to get money for. When you call this number back, you can hear multiple people in the background saying the same lies to others. They finally stopped calling me one after another when my husband told the man he needed to learn to speak clear english before he called back. (This man spoke with an arab/indi accent)

Received a call from a "Kevin McCoy," whose overly white name certainly didn't match the heavy accent of the person calling. This person requested to speak to an employee of mine regarding "legal matters" and an "investigation" of some sort. When I researched the number I found this website, so I decided to call back and got a completely different person (who also had a heavy accent). I asked to speak with Kevin McCoy and this person said he was Kevin.
