Caller ID displayed "Sand Amy 817-237-9783" but it was a fax.  They are fax spammers.

several calls are coming in.  I have list of 16 numbers all from 817-237-6501,48550,5840,2960,9783,8043.  They are fax tones some come across Protege SVCS but to get them stopped is another thing.

I get so many call from PROTEGE SVCS alon whit these numbers: 18172389138, 18172388516, 18172381472, 18172372325, 18172388340, 18172376448, 18172374669, 18172377876, 18172380693, 18172379783

it calls my 800 number too... who are they?

Same here. they are calling my toll-free number and it is costing me.

Got a call from this number.  Answered and sounded like a fax ringing.  Definitely some kind of spam.

I have tried many methods to stop these harassing calls from Protege Svcs., including contacting the Fort Worth Police Department, my long distance carrier the FCC and AT&T.  I even spoke to the ATT Legal Department about Protege.  I also did my best to locate a listing for this company in Texas, and they do not appear to exist.  It is likely a phony name and the company could be located ANYWHERE.

The ATT rep told me that there is nothing they can do, since we are getting these calls via our small business 800 number. They can only offer to block all of the 817 area code, which is not acceptable to us.

She did suggest that we contact the FCC and file a complaint online, which I have done twice now.  So, I am passing that suggestion on to you.  Please file a complaint online - it is easy to do and takes about 3 minutes.  Here is the page to go to:

File a new complaint for each new number that they call you on, until the FCC database is deluged with complaints on Protege Svcs.  Then, the FCC will take some action, as this is literally a QUANTITY system, where the number of complaints count (just like votes on American Idol, folks).

The ATT Rep says that, based on my description, this company is probably using an automated system to do pooled faxes to check for valid working phone numbers. It makes money by selling your phone number to other companies in turn.

So, she suggested that we be sure to re-register our phone number on the Federal Do Not Call Registry at www.donotcall.gov.  We did that as well.

Also, be aware that if you have an 800 number, you may be paying 4c or 10c per call for each and every call received from Protege Svcs.  So, if anyone can track down this company, we can file a class action suit against them, or at least get the Atty. General of the state in question to do so.

Please file an FCC complaint today.

Keep getting calls, sounds like fax on other end.  Joel Hinz (phonetic) answered this number in the a.m.  Calls come late at night or at least at or after bedtime.

I got a call from this number and when calling back received a busy signal. Could be a fax line dialing the wrong numbers from time to time. Hope it does not happen again.

They call my number everyday and all I hear is a fax line.

I get calls from that number on my cell phone.   It sounds like they are going to send a fax cuz I hear the buttons transfer then the fax noise starts.  Upon call back, the line is busy.

I keep receiving 817-237-9783 calls and tried to call back...the line is always busy...huh???  is it a fraud call???
