I accidently answered this call tonight. They say they are Texas State Troupers". Very rude.

This number 817-293-8787 called me twice on 8/18/08 and just hung up on me and my caller I'd read TX as the name whom was calling me.

Repeated calls on caller ID.  When answered, they simply hang up.

Lot of fund raising they get done when they just hang up... Twice they have called with nobody on the other end.

its the Tx state troopers.....figures, bunch of f**king pigs

got a call from the # 817-293-8787. its id as TX. caller is white male who said hello and ID himself as calling from the TX State Troopers Association.
I told him we do not take sales calls, or any other kind and Law Enforcements says not to ever take a caller selling you something UNLESS I made the call.
He started to speak and I disco the call.

Someone from 817-293-8787 called last night. When I answered the phone they wouldn't talk, so I hung up. This is scary since I live alone!

This is as dumb as the posts on the comp about it,   know who it is and we know who makes the posts online...alll the same dates! Hi guys!

On the third call of the day from 8172938787 I finally got a person on the line instead of a hang up.
I yelled some cussed word and hung up.
They called back and talked to my friend, she said it really was the state troopers asking for donations, like normal.
Who knows know I am starting to think maybe the troopers have a malfunctioning call machine.

A call from this number was soliciting funds. Refused to send me materials in the mail. Wanted me to tell them how much I'd donate, send them a check and they'd send a receipt.  Refused to do this; they hung up. Calimed they were collecting for the hwy patrol of tx.

It is a SCAM claiming to raise money for Texas state troopers. TX attorney general is suppose to be investigating. Don't hold your breath. And DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS ANY MONEY! They are using a random dialing machine which is why sometimes there is no one on the line. It is suppose to detect when a person says 'hello' and then connect to the con man, but sometimes the machine malfunctions or the stooge is away from the phone and doesn't pick up. When you see this number pop up on your caller ID, do not answer.

I am reporting this. I will ignore them.   :(

I got a call from this same number a mans voice.
I do not know who this is. My number is also on the do not call list.
My call came in at 6:56  I am in Houston, Texas

same here...shows up frequently on the ID...but no answer.

817 293 8787 - identified as TX; when called back, it is a vacant line or busy. best thing to do, leave your fax connected to the phone, tell everyone you know not to call, and when this TX outfit calls, they get the fax noise. appropriate, don't you think> LOL

Call only shows TX on caller ID. Annoying to say the least! If they call just don't even answer.

I called back and got a voice message saying "sorry we are not in the office, please leave your name and number and we will get back with you." just don't answer the phone when you see the number

I just got one from this number tonite.  I dialed it ad\nd got a message saying "thank you for calling the office, leave your name and number blah blah blah" obviously some kind of sales scam or something.

After some search found this online. If they continue to call I will file a complaint with the DNC list folks:

Just got the same call at my house 7:19 PM.  They got my 6 year old said only adults can talk.  When I reached the phone they had hung up.

I am supposedly on the nocall list.  does anyone know how to report this ?
