Cant do anything. They are not soliciting business so they are not violating the law . I say ALL calls not requested should be outlawed . If I want to do business I''l call them and if they call back their called ID should say who's calling and that should be made a law too .

There are several solutions to unwanted telephone calls from marketers or whomever.

You can block their number.  This is an option you pay for when you have a land-line.  I had to do this to a charity organization to all their numbers.  They would not stop bothering me w/solicitations even after I repeatedly asked them to stop calling me!

You can answer the call, lay the phone down telling them, someone is at your door you'll be right back, & just leave the phone off the hook.  Eventually, they hang up.

You can also answer the phone & if you talk to a warm body, you can tell them you've been waiting for their call so you can report the aliens that are coming to take you away, & you need to have them help you hide, or some such nonense.  The crazier it sounds the better.   If you get known as a "crazy", your name/number will disapear from all calling lists.

You can buy one of those coach's whistles in the sports department of your local sports store or big box store.  When a marketing company calls, you lay the receiver down, plug your ears, & blow into this whistle as long & as hard as you can.  If there is a warm body on the other end, they won't be calling your number for quite some time, if ever.

Or, you can have an unlisted/unpublished phone number as I have for about $5.00/$6.00 a month charge to your bill.(land-line)

Having an unlisted/unpublished number doesn't guarentee you won't have unsolisited people calling you, but, it definately cuts down on the traffic.

You give out your phone number "only" to those you trust & want to have your number.

Or, like we do .. we don't answer unknown calls.  If we don't recognize the number, or there is no i.d. on the caller i.d., we do not answer.   No i.d. ... no answer.

Survey
Just got a call and missed it. Called the survey company back and naturally got a recording that dismissed me but I hit 0 and connected to an operator. When I requested my number put on their DNC she couldn't seem to do it without my name which I told her was NOTB. While I was talking with her they called me back and I told the man to get me on the DNC at the same time. I trust it was done but I'm going to make sure our numbers are still registered on the FED DNC

Folks, I can offer 2 ways to fix this problem because this is only 1 of perhaps 100's of numbers that are being used for scamming or whatever it's called. One way to fix the problem is block these calls on your cell phone. My wife and I don't have super duper do everything cell phones, but a simple "make a call" and "get a call" type phone. Even though my phone isn't sophisticated I do have the ability to block numbers - I'm now up to 55 numbers from various scammers or whatever they are. My phone does not ring but the call is sometimes sent to voice mail. I'll get a message that I have a voice mail and the number. I id the number and if it's on the block list I don't bother listening to the voice mail. The second way is to write a letter to the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC. If you lodge a scammer complaint with the FTC they will ask you to fill out an on line form. I simply told them I had neither the time nor the patience to do that. I have been getting these calls for about 2 years and have a spread sheet with the numbers that called, the date, the time and any other pertinent info. I appended that to my letter. To my surprise they wrote back and advised me they would look into this issue. Have they done that, I don't know. But at least I have a document that indicates I told them of the problem. Perhaps if everyone started writing the FTC with any numbers or other information you have, they would get the idea there is a problem out there. If anyone wants a copy of my letter, you may send me an e-mail at ajax35@yahoo.com and I'll forward a copy.

The company is DSS Research.  If they can't leave me a message telling me what they want,  I will not talk to them.  I have never done business with this company.  I think they are just trying to sell you insurance.

Ironic - I agree with panda92045.  I'm not a fan of the calls but it ain't costing me anything, but it's costing some scammer time and $$ to call me.  Let them keep calling, suckers!

Survey
I signed up for United Health Care as my prescription drug company as per Medicare's choosing. They told me someone would call for a survey and if they didn't get you on phone they would send a similar letter in the mail. I didn't know it was them and didn't answer the call. They left no message only background people talking. I hope they don't call anymore. If so I will email the man that Karie said to email.

I work in the HC field.  These clowns keep calling my husband.  I think we ALL need to read the fine print on the forms we sign regarding HIPAA/confidentiality/release of records.  The list of those who can access our records seems to be "growing" and many are VERY nonspecific in nature.  I intend to read each one and cross out the parts we do not agree with.  I think electronic medical records are really only there to SERVE THE GOVERNMENT AND MIDDLEMEN.  That, of course, is my opinion.  Just read the release on your chart and amend it to suit yourself.  Too many independent contractors have access and this is not acceptable to us and sounds like to you either.  NO ONE needs our records unless they are OUR DOCTOR, a consulting doctor (chosen by OUR DOCTOR), the nurses, hospital/clinic employees who are DIRECTLY INVOLVED in patient care, transcriptionists/coders and our insurance carrier.  Anything/anyone else needs to be decided by the patient.  Those who have the access need to be held to INTEGRITY.  Lets all jump on this before it has spiralled totally out of control.  Also, ask your hospital/doctor WHERE your records go - are they all in the USA?  If not, they should be.  Give them your input and ask your friends and relatives to do the same!!

Called over and over to my husband who did not pick up on it.  I picked up today and a woman said she was, "Calling on behalf of Medicare."  Seriously.  I asked if she was working AT Medicare or for the government or our insurance and she would not answer, just that she was calling on "behalf of Medicare." I offered to answer her questions if she would tell me who specifically she actually worked for and what specifically they wanted.  She said she would "call back" and next time if he is not available they will "ask you the questions."  Think it sounds scammy - Thank heaven for call blocker!   So sick of the calls that seem to "sneak through" Do Not Call.  Many times a day every day.  WHERE do they get unlisted phone numbers?  DMV?  I thought DMV was told to stop selling private info, but maybe not?

Was not at home when call came in.  Husband answered and the person said he was with Medicare, asked for me by name, and then asked if my husband could help him.  My naive husband proceeded to discuss my health with them-----NOT!!!! Needless to say he is in the dog house as he really did not know who called, why, and how to locate them.  The caller did not have my permission to speak to my husband regarding my health.  I believe this is against the law as he did not have my permission to discuss my health.  Did a  *69 on the phone and came up with the number and called it.  They answer DSS Research, A Market Research Firm.  Don't fall for this!! as he did.  I do not know who in the world has my medical information.
