I just got a call on my cell phone about 20m ago.  I had also received a call about 2 hrs ago on my Vonage VoIP line.  The cell number is less than 60 days old, the Vonage number is less than one week old.  I bought my car at Car Max about 6 months ago.  I think I was getting these calls prior to my purchase from Carmax.  I have received them on every cell phone I owned, including my old job cell number which changed 60 days ago.  In both cases my cell service is provided by Sprint/Nextel.  My summation, I don't think it's Carmax, I don't think it's carrier specific, i.e. Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, Vonage.  I just think these guys are persistent and using a lot of computer war dialers and VoIP (to minimize expenses) and annoying the crap out of all of us.  I think the most feasabile option right now is to fill out the FCC form (linked several times in these posts), and/or complain to your local congressman and the congressmen of TX (if possible).  I want to see these guys busted on the Dallas SWAT show... ;-))  BTW - I always just hang up once I figure out who is calling me.

K so i took matters into my own hands and called Sprint and gave them the number and what time i received the call and they checked to make sure i wasn't signed up for any unwanted thing. Fortunately, wasn't. I suggest that everyone else that gets this call do the same thing to cover your butts, and maybe if there are enough complaints, these jerks will be put out of commission.

just had a call at 1:19, this site is the shizzy, cuz I checked the number and knew no to answer and talk to the knuckleheads!!  Never answer the number you don't know, 9xs of 10 is stupid solicitors with scams!!

I received this call about expired auto insurance. Option 2 to be removed from their calling list does not work since they call back. Option 1 gets you to a rep but they hang up if you ask them anything. The Company identifies itself as "Consumer Research". This is probably as untraceable as their decoy callback numbers so don't even waste your time.

This time around I thought I'd do things a little different. So I pressed 1 to speak to a rep and held on for a minute or so. The woman who answered opened with,

"Would you like to continue your auto insurance coverage?"

to which I replied,

"What is the name of this F***ing company?

Needless to say the b***h caught a case of 'cat got your tongue' silence then hung up. In retrospect my actions have not resulted in any real change regarding their clearly illegal calling activity. For some strange reason though, I'm not as annoyed as in times past. I welcome you to share my experience by cursing these F***ers out any time they call (be brief the're just itching to hang up).

JUST MAKE SURE IT'S THEM AND NOT YOUR REAL CAR INSURANCE COMPANY.

On Dec 30th 2008 at 12:30PM I recieved a call from this number.  It is most annoying as to the fact that I have recieved this call several times before in the past...............

Yes, this is a car warranty scam...it calls 3-4 times a day

I find it hard to believe that no one can trace and shut down the people using this number.

Called twice today on my cell phone and I didn't answer either of them. I have had calls from California, Oklahoma, and Tennessee with the whole car scam, so I just don't answer unless it is from a state that I know someone from.

This is the 4th time the Auto Waranty Line called my cell phone. I have never bought anything from them and have never given them my phone number.  I tired to call back but only got a busy signal. How do you get this crap stoppped?

I just got a call from 817 444 5194..so I looked the number up and it showed as belonging to a Cindy Davis from azle, Tx. It even gave me the home address..when I tried to call the number back, it said it was not in service..what the hell is going on here? that is very strange

I found her on myspace. I wrote her a message tellin her that her name was involved in a telemarketer scheme and if she didnt answer me she was already admitting guilt. i also told her that i alerted the authorities with her name and address. and also called her an inbred redneck. but thats niether here nor there.
