I just received a call from 817-572-1917...I did press 1 and a person answered and told me this is "HP Locate and asked me for my number which I gave her and asked to me removed from her call list.  She gave me a name of a person she was looking for which I did not recognize.  For what it's worth...I googled "HP Locate" and they have been described as a debt collector...

Another HP locate call!  It must be a scam

I get the same message from the same recorded company with the same information but from 631-317-2121 also. I deleted the other two numbers that have called with this same message.

My wife got a call from them yesterday about 1220 28Dec11, that our number was involved in an investigation by a PI firm, to press 1, etc. She hung up.  I followed up with phone call about 1300 today (29Dec11), and found the number was disconnected.  I looked up the number and it went to a landline in TX.  Further investigation found it listed as a current business number for a ***** ***** Child Care Center. I found an alternative number for the business called the number and talked to the person listed directly.  He/She said it used to be his/her number, but he/she has not used it for "20 years".

The phone company, SW Bell lists the current address for the landline to the exact same address as the Child Care Center. ...It just dose not quite square...

If is a recently reassigned number to a cell phone, it could be from anywhere in the US.  If it is "spoofed" number, it could be from anywhere in world.

Is everyone THAT GETS THESE CALLS  GETTING THEM ON a smart phone/android?

Just got a call from them and no message or anything.

I was just called does anyone one know what they wanted from you? Do you think it was a scam or did they have personal information on you?

I had the exact same thing - but decided not to press one.. Figured it was a scam.
I called the number back from a different phone and yes - it was disconnected.
I'm surprised ours is the only posting on this as I got a call like this a couple of weeks ago as well.

This number just called me ten minutes ago. I answered and it said that my number was under investagation. If I would like to help with the investigation or talk to the person hired on this case, press one. I pressed one and no one was there. So I hung up the phone and tried calling it back. It then said that this number is disconnected or no longer in service.
