Collection Agency. Digging up old credit issues.  Specifically an old tiny Express retail credit card debt on my part.   They had the exact amount I had owed, my prior addresses, etc. so I assumed it is legit. It is a DFW area code - but the company has agents calling from all over TX.  Yes you do have to give an address since it is a collection agency.

I keep getting calls from the 714-241-2323 number but they are not selling security service.  A guy leaves a message saying I owe money and I will be in big trouble if I dont call them back with my attorney! I got the same calls about 6 months ago and they went so far as to leave messages that a warrant was being issued for my arrest and they would be at my house the next day if I didnt call them.  I actually tried to call them but it only goes to an machine that doesnt even have a greeting message.  It sounds like the same guy this time.  Oh and when they first started calling they gave the name of a leagal firm.  When I couldnt get through to the number I looked up the firm and called them.  That is when I found out it was a scam!

I get this call 1 or more times a day along with many others. For some reason the auto dialers are popular again (cheaper than paying people to dial I guess) and I'm getting calls all the time for medical insurance, home refinance, retirement investments, etc. It says my name (maiden of course and that was many years ago), gives the whole "is it you 1, not you 2, need time to get said person 3, etc" but within seconds it just transfers so I hung up. Never mentioned a company or anything.

Yeah, sorry guys, but I'll give my money to a company that I call and talk to a live person. Not to a person who answers because of an auto dialer. Our generation is smart enough (hopefully & for the most part) to never believe these companies are legit. Unfortunately elderly people believe them and it scares me because I know our children are in trouble as well. My kids are pre-teens and the majority of their friends leave me to really worry about my retirement and medical care when I'm older. Society as a whole is growing dumber by the births. If you haven't before, go watch the movie Idiocracy. That's our future.

*fyi, I'm on do not call list as well and they still call. So much for our rights. See what your laid back, liberal wants have gotten you? Our government, constitution and democracy as a whole are completely fudged up.

More #'s you'll probably get calls from eventually:
-714-241-2323: selling home security services
-561-362-5456: selling investment services
-512-772-7512: this one got me. Came up as a school district. They are selling medical insurance/plans
**And I don't have the #'s because there are so many & on scramblers, but anyone calling and claiming to be "detective or agent so and so w/ xyz law firm or don't mention a company" don't believe them. They get your info, your families info, etc. Anything you've ever filled out and put references on, they will all get the calls. They claim that you owe a debt, usually a payday loan or student loan, and it's an amount that's believable. They say if you don't pay today they are issuing a warrant for your arrest. This scam is what most elderly people fall for. Do you research people. When you demand their company name, or ask the original debtor, amounts, etc and they just yell at you, somethings wrong. Even hard core collection agents don't do that. By law: 1. a debt has to be handle through the collection process, involving court if they choose, 2. you can't just issue warrants for a debt, 3. USE FREAKING GOOGLE AND SEARCH THE NUMBER, 4. use google and type a snipit of call, i.e. "warrant for arrest for payday loan....."

Sorry for the long message, but ya gotta admit I gave some good info that some may not have experienced yet. :o) Good luck to everyone and stay sharp. It's our posts and websites like this that can protect people. Because the government isn't going to.

They are all oriental. Kept leaving a message so today I answered. When I said to repeat the name of who they were looking for she said they had dialed a wrong number and hung up. I called back and after waiting, the guy hung up on me when I asked what kind of company they were. It's a fraud and scam and wish I knew how to report it as such.

Me too, just a call from this number, did not know who it was.  I called it back, she wanted my address and my last four of my ss number!  Are you nuts?

I asked who this was and she would not tell me.  I hung up.  I am also on the do=not=call-list.

I had a missed call from this # last night.  Called it back & the lady would not give me any info. until I verified my address. Needless to say, I did not give her my address. She said we couldn't go any further with the call until I did.  I said either you're going to tell me what kind of business this is, or I'm not going to give you my address.  She said I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to do that & I said  well I can't give you address either.  She said I'm sorry then we can't go any further with the call.  I hung up!

I can confirm the name of the company.  They just called me asking for someone else. Said my name would be removed from the database.  I don't believe that.

I think it's rude that they auto dial me, then put me on hold for 5 minutes.

They said the company name was Convergent Resources or something similar. I believe it's a bill collector, but they were calling for someone else.

The company is called Convergent Outsourcing.  I've been receiving calls from them for someone else and when I called back to find out how to have my number removed, the representative wouldn't tell me the name of the company.  I called back and received the front desk and was told the name of the company.
