Sent Cease and Desist letter via their contact us to Alexander & Stefano.  Can't tell whether they are out of New York or Texas so will send a letter of complaint to the Attorney General's office in each state.  Will also report them to FTC.  Now they'll pass the list along to some new collection company, and I'll start the same process again.

Got the same call from Steven Alexander of Alexander & Stephano saying they were representatives of National Attorney Network.  I had recently gotten rid of Griggs & Associates who I heard were put out of business in Georgia, and I feel that they passed along their lists to several other collection agencies. You do all the things like reporting to the Do Not Call, sending a Cease & Desist which they won't sign for and reporting to the state attorney general, and it just never stops.

How can you make it end?

I had the exact same experience.  I have a new business and was randomly assigned a number.  The people who had this number before me owe a number of people money.  This Alexander group is the most obnoxious and continue to tell me that there is no "database" and they can't note that the person they are reaching is not here.  They call multiple times a day and blocking my number is not an option.

9/27//12 - I too received a call from this number from a Steven Alexander from Alexander & Steffano, he said to contact them immediately at 866-815-8647.  didn't give me a case number, but that he's from the national attorneys network.  He said that if the did not hear from myself or my representative, they would go ahead and start legal matters. if anything, shouldn't have i received a letter from any of these debtors themselves to work out on a deal?  and it's strange they tend to call around payday.

I just got a call from this number, from a Steven Alexander from Alexander & Steffano, he said to contact them immediately at 866-815-8647.  He said that if the did not hear from myself or my representative, they would go ahead and start legal matters.  I checked with the county's court system and I do not appear anyplace there.  I have gotten calls from them prior to this one, and I just don't understand why they can't just send you written notice, if they have all your information to proceed with legal matters, then why can't they just simply mail out proper paper work in order for us to verify their claim is correct?????

It's hard enough now a days to pay all the bills, and have food on the table, to have people like this bothering you for things like this.  Just MAIL OUT PROPER PAPER WORK and people would have the proper opportunity to reply.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I just received a very loud and obnoxious robocall from this number asking for someone by the name of Michael Camille.  It gave me the option to hit 1 or call 866-324-4256.  I hit 1 and asked who they are.  Some man told me they are Alexander and Stephano and are a mediation firm.  He said he would remove my number from the database.

Curiously, I blocked my number and called back at 817-678-0100 to see if they really were who they said they were and spoke with someone by the name of Mr. Allen at extension 325.  He became very rude because I would not give him my phone number.  He claimed that his caller ID showed that I was calling from 630-489-9158 and that he saw the name LOMBARD.  So why exactly would he want me to give him my number if one was showing up on his caller ID?  I googled that number only to find out that this number is out of La Grande Park, IL.  I have every reason to not believe him as I blocked the my number so nothing should have registered on his caller ID.
