I got a call on my phone at home and at work and it was from a Greg Montgomery.  Does anyone know what this is about?

My phone just rang once at my work station.  I work at HUD in Manchester, NH and I dialed *69 to find out who it was and it was this phone number 817 785-2209.  Is this a scam?

I got a call for some Montgomery guy. It was call about offering a legal research service.

Got a call from the number.  Looked up Loislaw and called the operator there.  She said that there was no "call list" to be taken off of, so I told her the number that showed up on the caller ID -- she said there were two numbers there that were identified with that number, one of a "Stephanie" someone and one of a "Cornelious" someone.  She said she would contact them.  I am a lawyer that hasn't practiced in several years, but do have active status with NY and inactive status with GA bars.  It could be a cold call using those data.

Received a call from someone asking for whoever was in charge of OSHA compliance.  Our policy is we don't give out any names, we don't transfer to voice mail and we don't give out e-mails.  I screen all calls so I asked who it was and he said he was with Aspen, I said Aspen what, he said Aspen Publishing I said what do you need and he said are you the one that's in charge of OSHA compliance and I said no but I screen the calls for the person who is in charge, so he ended the call.  Good riddance.  Google Aspen Publishers scam and see what you find.

Received same.  "This is Howard Wade, please call me about legal research at 817-785-2225"  We are a law firm, so  assume he is peddling some website or software.   Obviously sketchy since it is such a vague message with no company name given.

I got this call on my cel phone.  I am a lawyer, too.  But I am wondering how they got my number.

I am an attorney.  A Henry Hill called to offer legal research facilities on line from Loislaw.  I don't think it was a scam.  He allowed me free access for 24 hours to a web site and then offered me a 1-year subscription to the Loislaw site. It seemed OK but not as comprehensive as lexis. I didn't take it.

I am an attorney as well, and have purchased things from Aspen Publishers.  I have received a call from a person offering legal research services in the past.  Sad too, because I really liked Aspen as a company.

I am an attorney also.  Received a call a little while ago;  did not answer; no message.  Called the number back and it is "Lois Law"  -- check out Loislaw.com (part of Aspen publishers; i have in past year purchased book from Aspen).  So, yes, a telemarketer; but not a "scam"

A Howard Wade called me at home today too leaving the 817-785-2225 number -- my wife took the call. He told her it was about some "legal research" and that I was expecting his call. Strange, since I had no idea who he was (though it seemed plausible since I'm a lawyer and work in legal publishing). I called the number back and got a voice mail with an outgoing message from a Southern-sounding guy.

The whole thing seemed kind of sketchy and creepy.

Dude.. I got the same exact message.  That's weird.

Same as DAC, Howard Wade, "legal research information I need to discuss with you", call 817-785-2225.  I am a lawyer, so it may be someone peddling lawyer-related service.

Said it was Howard, to talk about some legal research. He left the number 817.785.2225, but the caller id said the number above.
