It is a fund raising thing for Texas State Troopers Association and they are very annoying.

I have gotten several calls from this number. Everytime I have answered they have hung up.

almost every day i get a call from TSTA 817-861-5682. if i answer they hang up. if the answering machine picks up there is never a message. i called the number back and no answer. this is really getting annoying. how can i get them to stop calling me? I used reverse lookup and it gave a 51 year old woman in arlington tx. if they never say anything how can i tell them to stop calling me.

I keep getting calls from "The Ohio Trooper's Coalition" soliciting for charitable contributions. I am supposed to be listed on the National Do-Not-Call Registry AND have an unlisted number, but they keep calling about twice a month. My husband answers and tells them we won't be giving anything because he has not worked in three years (which is true). They still try to cajole him into a pledge. I have told him to ask if the person calling is getting paid to make calls, and what percentage of the donation actually goes to the "families of Troopers killed or injured in the line of duty".But he doesn't and they DO NOT let up!

Do me a favor, and ask any Sherrif or Police or Firefighter office or Department, and they will tell you frankly that they do not have any
organization collecting money for them. Also, check the BBB for all
these annoying calls, and you will find that they basically are the
same group of scamming people who use sights like WWW.USDSA.ORG.

Keep getting calls also from 817 801-5400. and somtimes my caller ID says "PRIVATE". Check your BBB website for WWW.USDSA.ORG,and see why
you should not donate to them. Have you dotated to them before? Well,
the first time you do, they bug you so often claiming that they are in
a way collecting money for Sherrifs Organitaion, or Cancer or so on..
At times, they will call and ask if you are going to match your cash
donation of $35 or $45, like the last.It is time that someoene or a
police department, or TV undercover investigation check them out and
see who they are, and what is being done with the collected funds.

Called at 4:53 p.m., verified number on caller i.d.  When I answered, they hung up.

well just got a call with an arlington tx ID didn't say anything and when I called back office hrs close.  IF it was TSTA they just lost my donation.

Called, checked caller ID and it said TSTA, so NO did not answer the call, at first I thought it was Texas State Teachers Association, but they did not leave a message.

just don't send them anything - if it is a postage paid envelope, send it back to them empty!

Last night, I got a call seeking donations for the Ohio Troopers Coalition. I declined the request and then googled the organization. I find a recent news article that revealed that company in New Jersey does much of the telemarketing for these state police charities. In the case of the Ohio Troopers Coalition, only 6% of the donations through this company actually went to charitable purposes.  The Ohio Troopers Coalition is a legtimate charity but their cost of fundraising through this New Jersey telemarketer borders on the criminal, in my opinion.

So anyone getting calls from police-related charities, don't automatically assume that its fundraising practices are ethical. Do research before donating.

Got a call this morning from 817-801-5400.  Hung up as soon as I said hello.  I have gotten calls in the past from Texas State Troopers Association, and they're relentless when giving their speech.  I asked if they could send me a request in the mail, and the gentleman told me that a mass-mailing would not be cost effective for them.  I told him that I don't participate in telephone solicitation and to please take my number off of their list.  I don't think they're obligated to take numbers off of their list because it's under the category "fundraising"?

Disconnected when I picked up.

I'm so stupid!  I took this call, spoke to this gentleman, and told them that I would contribute $50 to the TSTA.  I gave my name and address for them to send a donation form to, but that is all the information I gave.  I have heard of the Texas State Troopers Association before.  Have I been scammed?

Copy the number off of the CID and program the phone to "silent" when this number comes through.  No more bothersome hangups from the TSTA buttmunchers.

Phone rang and caller I.D. said "TSTA".  When I answered, someone is the background said "wonder where the recipe is to let us get out of here early".  These guys are probably raising funds for the Texas State Troopers Association.  I'm doing this from memory here, so I could be wrong BUT I think the TSTA has been asked by the BBB to stop using these companies to raise funds...to no avail, probably because the TSTA does get a little money from the fund raising...just a small percentage for the use of their name.  

One good thing--the mail box is probably full of complaints.  Also, you can call the TSTA and let them know you would prefer them to use other type fund raisers.

i just got a phone call from 1-817-801-5400 is says - TSTA - and when i called back it says soemthing about the texas state troppers assc? and it said that the voicemail box was full??!?!?
