I received a phone call from this number and it follows:

Attorney Ed Davis from Fort Worth Texas called and when I told him the attorney was in court and asked if he would like his voicemail, he said yes; when I asked him what this was concerning, he simply said I am attorney; I then asked him will the attorney he is calling know what it?s concerning and he simply said I?ll just call back.  The number that came up on caller ID was 817-838-0579.

I despise the sleazy telemarketing of this scummy Texas publisher.  When they called this morning I stopped them before they got started and told them that I'm not interested in anything they have to sell and to put me on their "Do Not Call" list.  I've been polite in the past and told the caller to tell their supervisors that I'll never buy from them until they advertise by mail like all decent publishers.  I hope they go out of business.  They certainly deserve to.

Business must be bad, they have resorted to calling numbers on the Do Not Call List in an effort to kill off any good will remaining with their firm.

As Dr. Phil would ask....'How's that working out for ya?'

I got a call from this number and they said "This is Jim Johnson for Jim Johnston", my boss.  I told them he was at lunch and could I take a message.  They said they would call back later.  The thing is I KNOW JIM JOHNSON, since he is local, and it is NOT his office calling.  I *69'd the number and it sent me to this site.  If you really care about lawyers, etc., take my boss' name off your list.

Someone just called our office from 817-838-0202 and since we have caller ID and I saw Knowles Publishing I knew it was someone trying to sell something we don't want or need.  They asked for "Jim" no last name so the person had no idea who he was calling.  I told the caller "Jim" was not longer at our firm and the caller repeated what I said and I said that is correct and he hung up.  We are a small law firm and do not order from people who call us.  We have vendors who we use and are loyal to us.  We use a lot of online sites to look up case law and rarely refer to books.  We have books in our office that are gathering dust.  We get these types of calls all day and we are required to answer the phone and these types of calls are very annoying and not wanted.  If Knowles Publishing calls again I will pick up the phone and just hang up.

I am attorney and I was cold called by this company.  Honestly, the product they were pushing was about exactly what I was looking for at that particular moment, I tried their 30 day "trial" (it's a bit limited) and I've purchased several products since.  I'm generally not pleased with the amount of telemarketing my firm gets in general, but I'm a lawyer, and my contact information that I've left with the bar is public information, so it is what it is.  Overall, I think it's a decent product.  Alas, people like me are the reason they keep on calling the rest of you.

I currently work at Knowles Publishing, Inc and I can give you some information that may clear this up. Knowles owns several companies that sell different books. This is a common practice in the business world, many times you will find one company owns several other companies that have different names. Nothing nefarious here, just common business practice. (It usually has a lot to do with Tax ramifications)

There is no "No call list" for businesses. I wish there was. Many people think this applies to their business but it doesn't, only to your residence. If you do not want to receive a call from us just tell the sales rep and they can delete your account from their computer. We set it up that way because we don't want to call you if you don't want to hear from us.

Knowles Publishing has been in business 30 years now. The reason for that is because the books they sell are extremely informative and really help Business Owners and Attorneys alike. The forms and check lists the law books contain are of great value and the software really helps the attorney save time when doing some research. The Business Books help people who struggle with the constantly changing laws that could lead to expensive litigation.

If someone called you and was rude, there is no excuse for that and I would like to apologize. If you ever receive a call like this please call 817-838-0202 8 to 5 M-F Central time.

We have a receptionist who makes sure all calls are answered so I'm not sure how you can call and not get someone on the line unless you're calling after hours or on the weekends.

If you do take a book from us it is most likely on a 30 day approval. We will ship you a invoice about 2 weeks after you get the book so if you do want to purchase it you will have the info needed. Again, nothing nefarious about it. If you need more time all that is necessary is to call and ask for a extension. We will be happy to give it to you.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Thank You

@Make: I wouldn't say telemarketers are lazy, and I quite doubt they joyfully choose that job. You're ridiculously judgmental. Blame the companies that employ telemarketers, not the people who need a job to pay their bills. I'm sure they hate the job, but a job is a job. And before you insult someone in written form, be sure to make sure you've spelled things correctly. Otherwise, it's even more reason not to take anything you say seriously.

They called my office did not say who they were or why they were calling but launched into asking questions about who the legal owner of the business is, etc. If they were a professional operation, they would say who they were and why they were calling before asking questions. These days I am very careful who I give information to over the phone.

Knowles Publishing contacted our offices about a month ago. As soon as the representative began speaking I stopped her and asked her if she was attempting to sell a product to me. Her response was, I quote, "No ma'am, there is no cost involved". She explained that the product she was offering to me was a free OSHA binder that their company had provided for our facility for the past several years at no charge. I allowed her to finish explaining the benefits of this publication and again commented that it sounded great, and by all means if it is free please send it! She then verified my address and the product that she was sending me, and explained that it would take 3 to 5 business days for the binder to be delivered. I thanked her and that was the end of the call. Later the next week we received the OSHA binder with only a shipping slip showing $0.00 owed. Then today I received an invoice for $263 and some odd sense for this binder that I was told repeatedly was "free". Since I could not find a phone number on the invoice to contact the company I looked on Google. As soon as I entered this company's name a drop down box appeared with options to select including "Knowles Publishing complaints", "Knowles Publishing Scam", and "Knowles Publishing Texas Fraud". Interesting! I did find a phone number and had a lovely conversation with a lady who played a recording of my previous phone call with her representative. Of course the recording began AFTER I had asked atleast 5 times if this OSHA binder was being sent at no charge and was told repeatedly that it was not going to cost us a penny. After listening to the recording twice both my boss and I still could not hear the Knowles employee tell me that there was a cost involved and what that cost was. Finally the lady specifically told us what to listen for and it was then that we did hear her say "Confirmation that we are shipping the OSHA Compliance Binder 248 to (our address)...." This lady tried to convice us that the "248" that was thrown in there was the rep telling me what the price of the binder was. I couldn't help it. I came unglued on her. I told her that I felt like I had been completely mislead and that I would be returning the product certified mail today with their invoice and to NEVER call our business again in the future. So as we speak the binder is being shipped back to Fraud Inc. with instruction to contact our owner who also happens to be an attorney if they have any questions regarding our return.

telemarketers are nothing more than lazy people who cannot and will not get a ligitimate job, but would rather work behind a desk and microphone and irritate people.  Same thing as bill collectors.  Low wages, no physical, personal interaction with the customer = crackhead.  No one grows up saying, "Gee, I wannabe a telemarketer when I grow up". You loser.  It is a scam to sell someone junk they do not need.

A rep named Bob keeps calling asking for the owner of the lawfirm by first name like they were great friends.  Doesn't he know the first thing about sales?  You have to be nice to the gatekeeper, which is me.  He wouldn't leave a message but I caught the number and found these comments.  What a miserable way for the guy to make a living.

They called and asked to speak with the owners by name.  Apparently they have the business reporting list in Louisiana with the owners name that we registar every year.  They state that they are with OSHA Rules and Regulations.  They will never leave name or number for someone to call them back. They state they will try back another time to speak with one of the owners.  I would never give anythng out over the phone to any phone sales solictors because that is how your business can be charged things.  BEWARE of any calls like this.

Received call from this number from a very rude mad demanding to talk to a "partner" from our firm. I kindly explained there was not one available, he demanded to know their schedule and wouldn't provide me his name. I let him know their calendars were confidential, but if he wanted to leave a message, he could. He didn't even let me finish my sentence before he hung up on me.

Our business was just scammed by this company, Knowles Publishing.  They will do anything to push their products on you and even has recordings of the phone calls they make to proof that they did "nothing" wrong.  I'm returning the package they sent, certified mail, and I have requested that they cancel our account and never call as back again.

A "David Morrow" called from this number asking to speak with a Partner. I told him that said Partner was not available and if I could take a message.  He opted not to leave a message.  I thought that was odd and decided to google the phone number from whence he called.  Lo and behold, it appears to be someone selling something or just being a jerk :p

A rep from this number asked to speak to the Manager.  When told he was at the other end of the building, the lady asked for the Corporate number to issue an employee complaint.  After attempting to respond to this "complaint" I found out it was a printing company! I am also and Administrative Assistant and I have also been getting calls from this number. They are very rude and demand to speak to my boss, but of course I won't let them until I know who it is. Every time I ask who is calling they just say I will call back, obviously it ain't something important because they don't leave messages. I hate it.

Just another telemarketer who can't abide by the Federal and State Do-Not-Call lists. Received a call today even though my number has been on both lists for several years. NOTE TO TELEMARKETERS: Just because I registered a home-based part-time one-man business with the state so I could get a Sales Tax Permit DOES NOT MEAN I'M A FREAKING BUSINESS OR THAT MY HOME PHONE NUMBER IS NOW OPEN FOR YOU TO HARASS ME FOR ALL KINDS OF USELESS CRAP I DON'T NEED! My number is STILL ON THE NO-CALL LISTS you FREAKING W**KERS! One more FCC complaint for me - going online now to make the complaint.
