On June 13 (my payment was 5 days late, but I had told them on three different occassions before it was late that I would make the payment on the 21st) they called my 9 times, and that counts only what I didn't erase. Today they called from two different numbers two minutes apart.

I have been call repeatedly a million times by this company. They call my parents house at least 10 times a day. They were also calling my job over and over and I had told them this is a doctors office you can  not continue to call me at work or Im going to lose my job. They were told repeatedly by office personnel that I am with pt's and that they needed to stop calling for me during business hours since I could not talk to them. Well needless to say they continued to call a million times more to my job and people I know.

if you had just recently purchased your vehicle then 95% of the payment will initially go to interest, especially if you have a high rate, instead of bringing the principle down.  the first year of my loan with them was like that, and now 95% of my payment is going to principle instead of interest.  if you have bad credit there is really no room to complain about anything.  you take what somebody will give you and be happy with it.  My credit isn't great, but the understanding of the system I have is what makes everything make sense to me with Santander.

this is actually not true.  every company that you owe a debt to in terms of a loan, a service(phone, cable, etc) or collections are now determined to be debt collectors.  listen to the statement at the beginning of a phone call.  "This call is an attempt to collect a debt, any information obtained during this conversation will be used to collect a debt"

Even if you are doing something as simple as calling to pay a bill that you are NOT behind on, just paying over the phone, they are still legally obligated to inform you that it is an attempt to collect a debt regardless of your current account standing(good or bad standing)

I agree with all of the comments. They say they are willing to work out payments dates and then they continue to call numerous times a day. The funny thing is that one worker will tell you it is logged in the system but the next person I speak to apparently does not have a clue as to the arrangements. They must receive one heck of a commission for each phone call they make tahts all I can say.

Santander Consumer USA Class Action

The law firm of Davis & Norris, LLP has filed a class-action lawsuit against Santander Consumer, USA alleging, among other things, that Santander has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.  The lawsuit also claims that Santander breached its contracts with consumers in the manner by which it charged fees.

I agree they are the worst to deal with.  They call 10 days before the payment is due.  I thought
i got rid of them traded the car in and when the new compay paid off the car they short paid by ten dollars so they are now bugging me for the 10 dollars.

The laws are that if they leave even one message they can't call back that day. so they try to avoid it I get a  bunch of 'breather' messages where they didn't hang up fast enough. Any one know if that's enough to take action against for calling again afterwards?

I don't even have a car loan with them.  I am a cosigner on a loan for my granddaughter and they call me from different numbers all the time.  Her payments are taken directly from her banking account.  The callers are from tim-buck=to and won't listen to you or you can't understand them.  My granddaughter has finally got in touch with someone, got her address on her bill and has kept up.  Boy would I like to fire the person who sold the car to her.  Anyone know the answer to this problem?  I'm playing the powerball once a week and if I win I'll take the money and throw it in their face.

You need to go up a few messages and read what I just posted.  You have a great case against this company, because they not only harrassed you with calls, but also violated your privacy by bothering your friends, too.  You might get a very good settlement for this.

If they actually call you more than once a day, you need to document the calls and get an attorney who will take your case without charging you a fee.  They will go after the co. for breaking the law by hounding you with so many calls, and THEY will have to pay YOU, and they will pay the attorney's fees also, but attorneys will take this type of case without charge to you, based on the fact that they can win and get the money from the company.  I know, because I went after a finance co. that took over a debt that I owed to GE Money.  I can't remember now the name of the other company, but I ended up getting more money from them than I owed on the debt.  And I found the attorney just through an online search.  I never even had to go to the attorney's office.

These people are relentless!! Call me at work, on my cell.  I never answer any calls outside of my area code.  I will never do business with them ever again.  I am stuck in this loan and because of bad credit ,cannot get re-financed.  Anyone with a loan with Santander, Drive Financial...check your payment history.  I found that all my payments are going to interest and none to principal!  So the amount I owe never goes down!  What a hopeless feeling.  I hope these blood suckers rot in hell!!

I found a solution to dealing with all the harassing calls. It is simple and effective. It will do the trick every time. When you get a call, do not hang up or do not just ignore the call. Here is the trick and it annoys them, trust me. If you have a land line phone, just pick up the phone receiver an lay it down. Do not say anything. If you have your TV or radio on, place the receiver near the TV and radio. If you want to annoy them even more, turn up your TV or the radio very loud. And if you are away from the TV or radio just lay the phone receiver down, without saying anything. If you have a cell phone, just hit your answer button and lay the phone down. A friend also tells me, he hit his answer button on his cell phone but just pretends like he has a cold and cough in the phone or he goes in the bathroom and flushes the toilet while holding the phone close to the toilet so the person hears the toilet as it flushes. I have tried these things and it appears that the calls have gone down.

Also: 303-302-1410.  And I confirm 972-559-1162.  They started calling me out of the blue 2 days ago.  I don't have any sort of loans or debts (I don't even have a car), I've never been in debt, and the four people who know my cell number similarly have no reason (past or present) to deal with these people.  My number is unlisted.  I have never received "junk" calls before this; now I receive two or three per day, and each day the number *they* call from is different.  I wonder if they chose my number at random, or if someone gave them my number (made it up randomly on the spot to get them off their back).  At any rate, I'm interested to see how long this company keeps it up, so I've never and will never answer their calls.

I am 4 days past due, payment scheduled on line for this week. They have called by 28 times in the last 3 days from 7 different phone numbers.  Even if you get someone who speaks decent english, they don't care. Started calling at ONE DAY past due.  Not even delinquent, and the payment is scheduled. I have filed 19 FTC complaints against this company because they have done this before. Sometimes payday is few days after due date, but never more than 10 days late--they call starting on the 2nd business day after the due date. Pricks.

Typical Santander Consumer calls multiple times using 10 to fifteen diiferent numbers.  They don't care how many times they call.  If you are late on payments expect multiple calls.  talking to operators is a waste of time, most of them are clueless. I will be glad when my loan is paid off next May.  Here are some of the numbers they use to call with:
817-887-0121
972-559-1162
214-540-2035
214-540-0714
303-302-1410
They use combinations of these and other numbers to attempt to get you to answer the phone.  Just don't answer calls you don't recognize.  I have found if you pay roughly 65% of the monthly payment they will not call before the end of the month.  Best bet is to stay current if possible.

I thought Citifinancial was bad...wow these guys are a THOUSAND times worse! When they bought out citi last summer, somehow a few payments of mine got "lost" and I kept faxing and mailing (certified) them copies of my payments but didn't matter to them. I was still "behind" and by December they told me that my car would be repossed if I didn't get them $1500 (mind you, I was making payments every month!). I had to borrow the money , wire it to them and called with the confirmation number. They said  the repo was canceled and all was good. 2 days later someone is ringing my bell at 3am-I look out and it's a guy who I am thinking is drunk or something and I am not gonna answer the door at 3am!  While he was outside he had left avoicemail on my phone saying that he was "Sheriff Marks from homicide" and he was outside and needed to talk to me. I still didn 't answer! Next morning I see that he went into my yard (footprints in fresh snow) and was looking in my garage windows. I called Santander the next morning and they verified that the repo WAS stopped and didn't know why someone still came to my house. (and yes, it was a repo guy). My loan matures next month and according to them, I owe QUITE a bit yet. I am not in the position to dish out $9000 so I called to see if I could make arrangements and they are supposed to send me paperwork and to saythat my payment due today will be wired tomorow. I hung up and they have called me 3 times since about my payment that I TOLD would be there tomorrow! I almost want to just trade in and get another car so this will be paid in full so that I can be RID of these horrible people. They call at LEAST 4 times a day. Tip: If you have a Driod phone there's an app called Mr. Number call blocker so every time they call-from one of their MILLIONS of different numbers, I just block them.

santander took over sovereign bank car loans as well.  they are relentless.  i went on their website and removed my contact telephone numbers.  might help someone else too.  if you are 7 days or more (still in the grace period) the 'dialing for dollars' begins and they are relentless.  one of the customer reps were so rude; i asked to speak to a supervisor and she huffed and puffed and a supervisor came on and told me that they are not customer service they are a collection service and they don't have to be nice. imagine that? a little sugar will get you more.....apparently for them, a lot of salt to the wound will do just fine.
