This person is a fraud artist.

I just got a text message from them about my Dutch bike selling for $875

What they do is enter into talks with you and ask if they can pay you by a bank draft to which you say fine. They say not to worry that they wont arrange to have anyone pick up the bike until the draft has been p ut into your account, so you feel its perfectly safe to deal with this person.

I gather they then ask to make the draft out for several hundred more and give some reason why this must be done, although i don't remember what it is...........you send them that extra money for the draft goes through your bank and you feel its all safe but then you never hear another word, no one comes to pick up your sale item and 2 months later, the draft comes back as a fake and you are out all that money and the fraudster is long gone

Same- posted on Kijiji and got a text from this number with a request to email more information and the final price.
I did reply and got a long convoluted story about not being reachable via phone, and living offshore and using paypal to do the transaction etc etc.

I didn't even bother to reply.

Same story.  No one's on the line.  I have a couple vehicles listed on Craigslist, so it might be the same people who called "me"

I receive a call from this number everyday. There is no one on the other end and then it hangs up. When I ignore the call, they continue to call until I answer. How do I make it stop?!

I too have a car listed on Craigslist and Autotrader....was hoping it was somone wanting to buy it, but now I see it's not. Bummer.

when putting your phone number on craigslist ads spell out the last four numbers.  You won't be bothered by all of the "Help you sell" companies.

Missed a call

Same type of thing here. I work at a carpet cleaning company and we have one of our carpet cleaning van listed for sale on craigslist. I got a voicemail message from 817-447-3070.  It was a man with a slight stutter and his message said:  ?You have a great day too. This is Sid with Perseverance and we have 8 retail stores in the Portland area that we need to get..we need to hire carpet cleaning and we do hot water extraction and we?re really looking forward to visiting with you. Ah, give me a call like on Monday. My number is 817-945-3951 and my name is Sid and I look forward to visiting with you. God bless you and have a great weekend. Goodbye.?

It sounded a little off to me. So I entered the telephone number he left for me to return his call at and I found all these notes here from the same number.

I just heard a story about this on Channel 12 news about scammers offering to broker your car sale for you and then taking your money. Hmmm?.I?m wondering if this is who?s doing that.

If legitimate businesses can use unscrupulous but legitimate practices to get your phone number off Craigslist,  what information are you leaving on Facebook or Myspace for the professional scamers to find?  Especially if you use any of their applications like Farmville or snowball fights for example?  These are third-party companies that grab your Facebook information but have no Privacy Policies.  Wake up America.  Be carefull what info you divulge on the internet!  It may come back to bite you.

I called these people back and spoke to a car dealer in Los Vegas.  The company appears to be legit but they got my number off of my Craigslist ad claiming that the ad makes my telephone number "public information".
To my knowledge, there is no law requiring companies to comply with the NDNC register, but there is a law that requires a caller to stop calling you after you request them to "place my number on your do not call list".  Make a note of the date and time and telephone number of the caller, then if they call again, follow the instructions for reporting them to the appopriate authorities.  I believe the instructions can be found in the NDNC website.  By the way, reporting them is even more of a nuisance then the calls are, but it is the only way to discourage them from this practice.

THIS NUMBER KEEPS CALLING MY CELL PHONE AND HANGING UP!  I HAVE MY HARLEY LISTED ON CRAIGSLIST AND THEY LEFT A MESSAGE LAST WEEK ABOUT SELLING IT FOR ME!  HOW DO I GET  THEM TO STOP CALLING?

my cell phone and my wife's cell phone rang simultaneously with the caller id diplaying this number. I just posted an ad on cars.com

Got the same call, they left a message. The call was from Quinn, too.  Ok, sounded fishy now I know it is a scam.
