It is the National Democratic Committee calling, looking for donations, not a pro-life group as previously reported . . . or maybe they used to have the number and the DNC has it now?  Seems too ironic to me.

They ask for my husband by name.  When I say he's not available and can I take a message, they respond " no message, we'll call back".  I have asked at other times and they say they are calling from the Democratic National Committee with an important message for him.  my husband has supported them, but they have been calling very frequently, they are so annoying.  I will try the Do Not Call List AGAIN.

2/2/09 - Turned it around a little. I have Call Rejection (since mid-Dec.), so I added THEIR number to MY list. That will waste a call they could have been making to someone else, every time. Small victories, I know.  But we curmudgeons must have them.

(Yeah, you're right. I have a phone, so I'm not a real curmudgeon. But the incentive is sure there.)

Answered call and then nothing.. they just hung up.  They must be trying for my wife.  Infuriating that a business would call anyone and then not have the courtesy to respond.  Took the time to report to FCC based on link from kind person above.   I am on the Do not call list.  If this is based on past contribution to something, that's a shame as it makes me quite disinclined to donate to anything.  A busines wasting anyone's time should be illegal.

Just found this site and sorry for the errors and If we have offended anyone.  Wo do bump all of our calling lists against the National Do not call list, so I am not sure why some of you receive calls from my firm when you say that you are on it...I'm on top of the issue and will figure it out.  Just know that the FTC is very slow in updating the list and the DMA list is slow too. Our client's are striclty non-profit organizations that work in world relief, Politics for the Democratic National Committee and a host of PBS stations.  If you do not want to receive calls from our firm, just call the number that pops on your caller id and our IVR system let's you input your number and we drop you from all calling on behalf of all of our client's...not just the client we are calling for.  We assume that if you do not want to be called on behalf of an organiztion that you support, we assume that you probably prefer to give via mail or the web or only during a crisis the the Sudan, Congo or Katrina or an election.  This is just good industry practice and we never want to call anyone that has a dislike of the phone...It is simple, this practice reduces calls, cuts costs to our clients and reduces "Donor Fatigue."  Two things I have to look in to.  The dead air time on our dialer is set for 1 second maximium, so how can it be that some of you have had longer dead air time.  Our vendor, SER Solutions,  says this is impossible and they checked our system parameters and assured me that we are doing it by the book.  Second, if a caller does finally speak to you on behalf of your organization and my firm, simply ask to be removed from the calling list and we will drop your name right there and then...that's as quick as we can do it.  Last thing, email me at my firm if I can help reduce or solve problems.  My name is Jim Harris, President Harris Direct.  Please email and title you email TM Complaint...Please provide the phone number that you were contacted on and we can scan all files and get you flagged for no calls.  Please also copy  our VP of IT as he is very up on this issue and he is probably your best contact to reach via email to get removed not only from our list, but from the list provided by the organization you support.  He is Iman@Harris-Direct.org.  You can also call Natasha Perez at 818-222-3470 Extension 108 and she can log in and drop you as well...she is the VP of Center Operations and her email is Natasha@harris-direct.org.

Last, as a general rule, our client's prefer that we do not leave messages on the phone until the last day of the calling campaign...perhaps this should allow us to rethink...we are testing email campaigns to unreachable donors and the results are strong.  Now I will test, the effectivness of leaving a message and following with a call down the road.  My feeling is that will not work for our client's as they really need to reach you in a crisis or during an election.  Again, we do not wish to offend, just call our IVR system, leave a message and most importantly your number and we will have you dropped that way, but perhaps we can do even better with some tighter quality control and thoughtfullness.

Sorry for the errors,

Jim Harris

Getting "cold calls" that claim to represent a non-profit organization suggests that the organization doesn't do the best job of protecting personal information.

Getting calls from this number for the last week.  Two or more daily, do not leave message.  I finally had to use my call rejection feature to end this constant calling.  I called the number from a secure phone ane got the message that they were a non profit org., and they gave me the option to opt out of their calls by giving them my number, I declined...Sounds like a scam to me

Jim Harris,

Either you're lying or someone is lying to you.  I've been on the National list for years and I've updated whenever they have required I do so.

I'm just going to put your number on my blacklist so that it keeps ringing and wastes your time.

I suggest everyone file a complaint with the Do Not Call list. They may fall into the protected umbrella, but at least someone will be bothering them instead of us for a change.

I've been on the National Do Not Call list for years too, but I keep getting calls from this number, often multiple calls within a few minutes of each other.
Just got 3 with a time span of 30 minutes!  This is very annoying and counterproductive if you're trying to raise money for charity.  The charities I've given to have my email address and can send me email or snail mail, I'm OK with that. Telemarketing--that's what we're talking about here--is not cool, no matter what the aim.

It's Harris Direct Marketing and here is their eMail:  clientservices@harris-direct.org

I am sending them an eMail with subject line "STOP CALLING" for every time they called me!

I wish I could generate eMails as fast and as often as they bug me!

Fight back - jam their eMail box!  clientservices@harris-direct.org

Harris Direct Marketing on behalf of a non profit association I have donated to in the past (World Wildlife Fund). If you call the number back, there is a recording that allows you to leave your phone number to add to their Do Not Call list. This worked for me.

Sometimes 3-4 calls a day.  Accidentally picked up once be because of 'incomplete data' message and as soon as I said hello a man's voice started: "America, (blah, blah) something's going on in Washington (watch out, blah, blah)."  My husband added us to the do not call list.  We'll see.
