Same happened to me at Fullerton College. A guy stopped me and said that for every persons info he gets some amount of money to fund his classes and books, like a scholarship. I asked him like 3 times to make sure that I didn't have to pay for anything and he said no. He told me that if anyone contacted me asking to pay for anything that I just tell them that I already payed and that would be the end of it. Since then(this was a few weeks ago) I have been called by this number (818) 980-5420 about 7 times and have been called by this number (818) 980-5247 about 5 times. I never answer because I don't want to be charged for the call, but no one ever leaves a voicemail so I couldn't figure out who it was. I just called back today and a man answered saying "how can I help you?" no company info or anything. I really hope they stop calling!! It's getting to be seriously annoying.

I called this number back and the girl who answered asked me if I wanted to subscribe to the L.A. Times. I just hung up. They called again today. I'm wondering how they got my number since it's on the Do Not Call registry???

i remember i was walking with me friend at CSULB and their was this asian guy standing there. He stop my friend and I and told us that it was the LA Times and to fill out our information (name, address, and phone number. He told us it was FREE and when some one calls us from the "LA Times" to say that we gave him $20 and also said that he gets $5 for every person that signs up.

^ I have a similar story as the CSULB person above. Some guy at my college stopped me and asked me to fill out that info and when i was done he said somebody will call me and i have to tell them that I gave him $20. He said he was doing something for some charity though.

Last weekend, the person with this number called me three times in a row and never left a message, so I never called them back. Then today they called again without leaving a message. Thanks for telling me it is the LA times. However, I talked to a person about the LA times at UCI a year ago and I never gave them any of my information, so I am not sure how they got my number.

It is Red Label Marketing based out of Los Angeles.  They are a legitimate company, but they can be a nuisance if you allow them to get your number.  If you call, you can tell them to remove you or add you, whichever tactic they use to make you unable to receive calls.  Good luck!
