I'm on Do Not Call and get calls from this number every day. There is never a message left. These calls are interruptive---when I'm in the house I'm usually busy concentrating on paperwork, and don't want the phone to ring unless it's from someone I know personally who needs to talk to me.

Why do you people answer your phone? When I get a call from a number/area code I don't recognize or if it doesn't come up on caller ID, I never answer. Period. If it's important, they will leave a voice mail. If it's from a telemarketer or some other bogus organization, they never leave a message. It's just that simple. Don't answer the stupid phone and you won't be bothered.

caller id said WIRELESS CALLER. I just let it go to voice mail. Tonight I counted 33 numbers in my call log (some had called several times) and only 3 of them were from legitimate sources. All the others were annoyance calls.

I never answer calls if I don't recognize the number - too many shysters calling with temporary 'phony' phone numbers.

A note on Unwanted Calls.  Our world is changing. Sadly - The 'Do Not Call' list only works with Legitimate Telemarketers but unfortunately does not apply to: Surveys, Charities and of course, Criminals don't follow any laws. These Criminals have various kinds of ploys.  Some hide behind Surveys and Charities and of course the two big ones are Phony Debt Collectors and Low Interest offers. The only way to avoid these calls is DO NOT EVER RESPOND because if you do respond you will not only continue to be harassed by the same caller but your number will be sold to other 'Harassers' now that they know you are a live Human Being with a real phone number.  Also the Criminals/Shysters only use a number for a short period and then change it to avoid being caught.  Another sad note is that even

if you do respond to a legitimate Survey or Charity - you will be placed on a 'Sucker List' and your number will be passed To & Fro for all to exploit you, including the criminals.  I also never respond to any political calls anymore, because I don't want to give any politician the knowledge of my concerns just so He/She can LIE TO ME in the future by telling me 'What I want to hear', because - Honest Politicians already 'know' the Needs and Concerns of The People that He/She is representing.  Again, our world has changed and responding to any of these callers only places us at risk for 'Who knows what?" At this time in history I have not discovered a way to 'AVOID' ALL HARASSMENT and so far the only way to avoid ongoing harassment is -Caller ID- and/or a phone that can 'Block' callers who will not stop.  Some of these phones also have a Programming Feature that will BLOCK Calls which do not have a number like 'Out Of Area' or 'Private Caller" and is well worth the Investment.  We can no longer 'Trust' ANYONE "Who we don't know' that is calling us.

Dang, as much as these calls upset me, it so fun to play with these goobs....  give them a fake card number... and i mean really fake...   the first set of numbers indicate the card, visa, discover, etc, then the rest of sequence is in a order of another card, maybe with a extra number or minus a number....  give them the first set of a valid card, the other set from a made up card # with a different sequence... blows their mind...  "well that didn't go thru, do u have another card ?"  I give them another, then say...  i don't understand, i just gassed up about 30 minutes ago and the gas machine took my card with no problem... maybe i should contact my bank rite now as i'd like to lower my interest rate...  now who are you again so i can tell them to lower my rate...  then is usually   CLICK...     The other good one is when u get them on the line.... say...  " Oh... my check book is down stairs, can you hang on for a minute while i go get it ? "    then as i slowly go and "get" my check book and cards, when i get back...  there is no one there...., or.... I need to go get my glasses so i can read the numbers....  lol      Oh how I love to keep them on the phone talking....

Remember to tell your elders not to fall for this scam

They just called me here in Nebraska too. Its really annoying that these ppl can just call anyone at random to harrass them with a bunch of nonsense. Its a real shame that our government doesn't care enough to do something about it.

Another counter-attack method is to go to the FCC Complaint Website ( http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm ). This is a more detailed report, and also allows you the option of including a sworn statement to be used in prosecuting offenders. It only takes a couple of minutes, and if enough people take this step, the people running these scams can be prosecuted. Like cockroaches that scatter when light is shined on them, these criminals detest the light of public exposure. Remember: The best Defense is a good Offense!

They made the mistake of calling me. First, I recommend you list your phone number on the National Do Not Call Register (www.donotcall.gov) and then submit the simple complaint form when they call.  One counter-measure that works is to use an answering machine, but set it only to leave your outgoing message, and to not record any messages. You can leave a long, rambling message that begins with "Please leave a message, but..." and then ramble on for as long as your machine allows. The telemarketers are lured into listening to your message, but then the machine hangs up without letting them leave a message. It wastes their time, and costs you nothing. They seldom make a second effort. You can look at caller ID to see if the caller is someone you know.

Apparently all you can do is use your answering machine, and not pick up until you hear who's calling.  The FCC is apparently impotent to stop these calls!
My outgoing message says:
"Thanks for calling.  Start talking at the beep and we'll l pick up as soon as we  know it's you!  -- or ,will  call you back if we're out  "
Later,  we check the call history and report any number we think is a scam call.

I've been blowing a whistle in their ear for a couple of months now.  I was hoping that it would stop the calls but it doesn't.  I bet they are prepared for stuff like that.  I constantly report these calls to the FCC but they aren't going to do anything about it.  Additionally, I've been getting these calls since Oct 2011 several times a week or more.  I don't believe I've been called from the same number twice.

Same stuff as reported above.  I have received many calls from this and similar numbers, all saying it was my "last opportunity".   I wish that was true.   The only reason I ever reply is to tell them to take me off their list, and I get hung up on each time.   I need to keep a shrill whistle in my pocket so I can blow it in their damned ear.

It is a hoax. Do Not give your information out to any person calling about lowering your interest rate. All the credit cards companies are getting the word out that they do not call and do this!

These bozo's call on a weekly basis sometimes daily. I have asked to be taken off their calling list and I report them every time they call. But the calls continue from different numbers, I guess they think the no call list doesn't apply to them. I owe $0 on my credit card, they just can't take the hint.

I got an automated message saying this was my "second warning" to lower my credit card interest rates before the next billing cycle gets started.  They said it was urgent and associated with stimulus funds.  I've got no credit card debts, so knew it was a scam.  I stayed on the line to tell them to stop calling me and a man picked up the line.  I explained that what they were doing sounded illegal and to stop calling me.  They hung up before I could finish my sentence.

They also call from 618-327-0760 and 502-442-7070. I recommend writing your congressperson and Senator and demand that they cut funding for the FCC, which doesn't seem interested in addressing this matter. Keep in mind that I still recommend filing FCC reports, so you ammunition to use against the agency as well as these abusers.
