You are correct.  We did call verizon after my son's phone died (just a week after his 1 yr warranty was up and he was not due for an upgrade for another year), so we were trying to work with them to get him a new phone at a reasonable rate.  Happy to say that we were successful.  This number did call to see if we were satisfied with the outcome.

This was Verizon, but billing in a POSITIVE way.  My son's phone died and he had the phone for JUST a year (1 day after) and was not due for an 'upgrade'.  We had to negotiate with Verizon billing to try to get him a new phone at a reasonable rate, and not 'full price'... this number is legit and I am surprised (but happy) to say that it all worked out w/my 19 yr old and his phone...   We did not owe Verizon money, they were calling us to try to work a deal on buying new phones.

This is a Verizon Customer Survey calling.  After a call to their customer serivce number, they call back to ask you (in automated fashion of course) about the nature of your experience with the call center.  If youre survey is incomplete or less than satisfactory, they call back to inquire further.

They just called me, and did leave a msg and callback # - it is Verizon following up on a survey post- customer support call. A supervisor. Called back, and it's really Verizon...

Its a Verizon #. Its a help desk call center which was trying to help me out.

this number is Verizon Wireless... but when they called me it was not about billing, but about a faulty phone that i had reported to them....so don't assume that it is collections - they could be trying to help you fix your service

Got a call from this number at 8am on a Saturday, but didn't answer because I had just got to sleep after a 12 hour shift >:O
Looks like people say it's Verizon billing, but I've paid my bills well before my deadline for the past 10 years, and my account shows that my bill payments are up-to-date and I don't owe anything.

called today 1:52 pm did not leave message (1/16/09). From looking at previous complaints, looks like it was Verizon billing co.? I have AT&T, don't know what Verizon wants from me?

Verizon sux. They call from a random number and then try to get your Credit card number for a payment. Even though it is really verizon its pretty dumb. How do we know its really verizon. Im going to start calling people, telling them their phone bill is late and asking for their credit card numbers.

This call is from the VZW Billing department.  You can either a)  choose to ignore them and have them constantly call you (as well as every phone on your account) or b) pay your bill (usually in full, because they still call if you make partial payment as well).  They will only call, won't leave you a message (god forbid they tell you why they're calling!) ... Hope this helps!
