Absolute scam.   Report it to your local law enforcement authorities.  Debt is a civil matter--no law enforcement is involved.  If someone is pretending to be a members of local law enforcement, the real authorities would like to know.

Don't talk to these people, don't send them money, don't have anything to to with them. Block their calls.   They are serious criminals.

Impersonating an officer of the law is a serious offense.      If you do talk  to them again make sure you tell them that you are making a police report.  Then tell 'em to go to hell!  Loudly!   Don't let them intimidate you or scare you.

Look jack***, check bouncing, if done intentionally is a criminal offense.   The bank will notify you if it happens.  If it is thought to be intentional the BANK will request the police to look into it and a representative of the police department will interview the check writer.  If the police feel a crime has been committed they can arrest the check writer.   The prosecutor will then file charges or dismiss the case as he sees fit.   If the bank feels that there was no crime involved then they settle it civilly.

Debt collectors are not involved in the criminal process.  Period.   Yet, you jack***es constantly throw around terms like "an arrest" or "jail" or  "arrest warrant" or  some other damn thing which is meant only to frighten people into giving you people money.

First off, you kitchen-table scammers never give out details.  You never send debt validations, never give a physical address.   You just want to scare people into giving them money.  ' Getting a payday loan and not paying it back constitutes as "writing a bad check"'

Really?  Since when?  What the devil are you talking about?  Writing a bad check means you have written a CHECK, which is an order to pay someone money,  and it happens to be written with insufficient funds to cover it.  Period.
There's an actual CHECK involved.  A negotiable instrument, if you will.

Christ!   I know you're stupid and don't have much in the way of education, but why suppose we're all stupid too?

No one at a sheriff's office called you to help lying thugs collect a payday loan. Law enforcement personnel *ARE NOT* in the business of debt collection. They handle criminal matters and threats to public safety. In North America a badge and a pistol and a truncheon are not required tools for chasing down some penny-ante defaulted debt, which for the last time *IS A CIVIL MATTER*. Please stop trying to frighten other readers with your paranoid fantasies. Cowardly extortionists who use the phone like a blunt instrument hold *NO POWER* over an informed citizen.

The FDCPA § 1692e(4) goes out of its way to prohibit "the representation or implication that nonpayment of any debt will result in the arrest or imprisonment of any person". Such a threat is only legal if the "action is lawful" AND intended. That threat *always* fails on both counts. A wealth of information has been linked in this thread which confirms the above and shows that the collector in question is rotten to the core. I expect not to have this discussion again.

§ 1692e. False or misleading representations

I received a phone call this morning from 919-439-999 and a voice mail from a Melissa Myers.  When I tried to call the number back a recording said that this number did not exist, no longer in service etc.  The voice mail said that I had criminal charges and that I needed to call Stanley Crawford, Federal Mediator within the next 24 hours or a warrant would be filed.  Now here is the kicker.  This Melissa Myers also called a neighbor of my mothers that I may have had contact with a hand full of times in the last 20 years.  She gave her all of my personal information including a case number.  She was all upset and contacted my mother.  I called the number left for Stanley Crawford 844-245-7141, a women answered and I told her that she sounded just like the so called Melissa Myers that left me a message and she said that she gets that all the time.  Thats when red flag popped up.  She said that he was in court for me to call back.  I asked her what state this criminal complaint was filed.  She hung up on  me.  I called back about 5 more times and only got a music recording and then the phone went dead.  When I finally spoke with Stanley Crawford I asked him the same questions, what state is this criminal complaint and what type of criminal complaint it was.  He told me that it was "not relevant".  Red flag again.  I think I called about 20 times over the last 5 hours and so called Stanley Crawford came to the phone and told me "stop calling, you are an idot, you are crazy and a psychopath..." among a few others.  I guess they have never had someone so persistent.  Guessing his "Girl Friday" wanted to sing "Let it Go"!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Whatever. If you will contact your bank, those places are illegal loan sharks, check places. There isn't anything they can do and especially if its like what 8-9 years ago as was stated to me. I called my bank to double check, on my ex from years ago, no such thing. A waste of my time. If it had happened, and anything could've been done, they sure wouldn't have waited 8 or 9 years to do it lol

in what court was the case filed? What is the name and address of this company? What documents did they provide to you as verification of the payday loan debt? Surely they DID provide some proof, right? And you say you have all the details, so I'm waiting for that company name and address information. But I'm not holding my breath because I know nothing is forthcoming from a lying shill like you. Stop trying to scare people and get a real job...oh wait, I forgot that scumbag scam debt collectors aren't even qualified to clean stable floors out with their tongues, although it's the most suitable work for them considered the amount of horse turds that come out. That way they can put some back in.

I received a call from this number claiming to also be Stanley Crawford Law Offices in Florida.  I live in Texas.  The red flag for me was that they were calling in regards to my uncle, whom of which I am hardly close to, nor would I ever be listed as a contact for him.  A woman claiming to be named Melissa Myers said that there was a criminal complaint against him.  Weirder yet, he also is in Texas, never goes to Florida, and is someone that wouldn't have a criminal complaint against him.  Obvious scam alert.  Debating whether or not to call back with my own police complaint against them.

First off, if a person had a bad check, the bank would notify along with the company the check was written to. There would be bounced check fee's involved from both. Secondly,  Debt is a civil matter, not criminal.

You are lying and attempting to deceive consumers.  Hot checks laws do not cover unpaid pdls which are "post dated" checks.  Moreover, debt is a civil not a criminal matter, so no one is ever arrested for a pdl.

Now, I challenge you to show me some case law to back it up --- either you are stupid or dishonest (or both)

I received a message from someone who said I had a bad check too. When I called 844-245-7141, they gave me all of the details and it turns out I did have a case pending in reference to a payday loan that I had gotten and never paid back. Getting a payday loan and not paying it back constitutes as "writing a bad check". This company really helped me out and worked with me so that I was able to get it taken care of.
