Got calls on both home & cell ph w/ caller IDs just showing "0-000-0000"! Female caller never identified herself or her company. Said she had important documents for me & it was urgent that I be present to receive & sign for them. Said something about verifying my home & work addresses (I have been retired for 2.5 yrs) and that if I didn't respond within 24 hours, the documents would be issued out to both locations.

First off the number they are calling from shows '000000000000' on my cellphone. Telling me they have very important documents for me.....serving papers...???

She told me I was a "subsigner".  I asked her to show me where I signed.  She said, quite arrogantly, "Do you know what a subsigner is?".  I have since looked this term up.  Guess what?  It does not exist.

A supposed process server called me at work to tell me she was going to serve me (process servers do not usually announce their arrival).  And then she gave me this number to call.  I called and spoke with a woman who told me that it was in regards to a judgment against my ex-husband, as they showed me as his spouse.  I explained to her that we had been divorced for 12 years.  She then told me their records must be wrong.  I offered to send a copy of the divorce judgment, but she did not want that.  She told me the only way to stop them from serving me was to tell her where to find him.   She was trying to intimidate me and when it didn't work, she got noticeably irritated and rude.  I told her I did not know how to find him and that she should remove me from the judgment since I have nothing to do with it.  She said she would not remove anything, they were legal court documents, and then hung up on me.  (This was AFTER she told she WOULD remove it if I gave her his contact information.)

My brother in law got a similar call saying they were serving legal documents then my boss tells me someone showed up at my job looking for me but I was not at work at the time. Who are these people and how did they find out where i work?

MR Douglas called me saying he was calling from my local county to serve legal papers.  This makes me laugh because i have been service papers and they do not announce themselves she just comeon over to your house and serve the papers.  This is an urgent matter we are taking action the deputy is being deployed.  When I say send them over they get really mad and start to lose it calling me a dirt bag asking to speak with my supervisor at work.  Tell them to send it on over.  I try to be really nice about it.  This is a scam and they will keep calling and calling. Eventually they will stop.  But it is a big pain in my butt until they do.  That is what they are trying to do. They will call your family and tell them you are getting arrested.  Its a big scam.  Real collection agencys know they cannot threaten to sue you if they are not going to. And they cannot threaten you that you will be arrested!  Terrible.  You can never get straight info about what the company is from them either.   Mr Douglas get another job. One you can be proud to do!
