It is illegal for a collection agency to contact you in a manner that costs you money.  If it is calling your cell phone, drop a Cease and Desist letter on them, that they are engaged in a prohibited and illegal practice of calling your cell phone which is costing you money, and if they persist you will file a complaint with the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Affairs.  Calls will stop.

It must be Monday as NCRI's autodialer just (illegally) called my cell phone again.  Their machine got to talk to my machine. Then it was deleted without ever being listened to.

Hi debt collector.
Save yourself some time and give people the lowest viable settlement offer once the SOL has run out. That way, you have at least a SHOT at collecting something, rather than nothing.

Your silly deep voice and fake intimidation only works on the uneducated.

Yes, we've racked up debt.
Yes, we were reckless.
Yes, the law says you can't legally collect a penny now (the SOL has run out).

Get smarter, and you'll earn those collection bonuses you're fighting for.

Happy Monday.

Ahah ! These insidious bottomfeeders are at it again.
Any overdue accounts turned over to a Collections
Agency, must first notify the debtor by mail. All
correct info ; name, address, account number and
balance owing, as well as the Client, must be included
always in correspondence sent out. Forget telephone
calls, just scams. So unless you get a letter in the mail,
don't pay attention, and NEVER give out info. I don't
even answer calls I don't regonize, especially long
distance #'s. I don't know why somebody hasn't
taken these organizations to court. Clearly these
attempts to extort money from people, who do not
have any outstanding debts, I find highly illegal. I
would hope that all those notified by telephone, will
report these agencies to the proper authorities.

They continue to call my phone about money owed by a person named Clara.  I have advised them there is no Clara associated with this phone, that I do not know any Clara but they continue to call and harass me.

Oh man, thanks so much for posting this info. I was legit panicking. The only thing that stopped me from buying into them was it seeming really weird that someone would threat legal action via automated voicemail.  I made some mistakes when I was young (18 yr olds shouldn't get credit cards) and I recognize all of my stupidity but I'm not a thief so when I started getting these calls. Now daily I really didn't know what to do.  thanks again

Yup, I have a lawyer, and he told me not to respond to these tactics. I'm fighting my credit card company over my bill, this is how the card company treats you if you don't agree with them. They can't take me to court because they will loose, so instead, they put the credit sharks on your case and harass you to the brink, I've been getting these calls for over a year, still no "Formal Proceedings" have happened. The very fact they tell you on a message machine is against the Consumer protection act, and their case will be thrown out of court on that alone. Check your Province for more information on your rights, don't get you information form debt payment companies, they will not give all the information because their interest is making money when you pay back your debt.

Do pay back your debts if you owe money, but do it on your terms. And don't acknowledge them, it will only strengthen them against you. Hold your head up high, you are not a bad person.

Prank Call
I Went downhill in the last few years ( bit of an under statement ) :(   But these huge douche's are a scam. Please don't fall for it they buy bad debt that can't be collected but use scare tactics to try to trick uninformed or uneducated citizens into paying them. Usually try to tell them that if they pay quickly they can settle the debt for about half of what they "say" you owe. Please ask for a copy of any contract or other info mailed to you in a certified letter. A legit creditor would send you the pertinent information and not a letter with vague info. You should definitely make sure you get a copy of your contract with your signature. This NCRI company  will not send it to you because they are flat out a scam. I have informed the ontario ministry of consumer protection of the tactics they have attempted on me and was informed by them that there is several complaints against them and never pay any money that is requested over a phone call. Make sure you have a certified letter of what you owe and call the ministry to confirm the company is legit. Just because they have a fancy web site means nothing. I could build a website like there's in a couple hours ( a simple process nowadays ) I've even found the glitch in it. Try to click on client login. It goes no where. Because there are no clients. Just them finding bad unrecoverable debt that they try to scam people into thinking they still owe. Damn rat bast*rds
