Received a call from an Indian accent man wanting to fix errors on my system. Said he worked for time warner cable. I told him I did not solicit this call and would appreciate not having him call back

Received a call from 8447400173. Person named 'Michael' with Indian accent said he works for Verizon Communications and was going to get some internet specifics, they were going to update my service to run much faster. I said 'You said you work for Verizon communications?' and he confirmed. I hung up.

Been getting the same calls. Answered the last one and someone who's command of the English language was very poor (Indian/Pakistan accent), claiming to be from TWC looking for my wife. Her email account generating error messages. Told him she was not home, then asked if I was a family member. Told him I was, then asked me if I was seating at my computer right now. if so he would walk me through how to fix the problem (one that does not exist). I told him I could not deal with this right now but I would take a look at her account and if there is a problem I would then contact TWC for a resolution. Not what he wanted to hear. So I hung up on him.  

I received two phone calls from this number today and actually talked to a person on the second call. He had a strong "offshore" accent and represented himself as calling for Time Warner Cable - my internet provider. Since his message sounded bogus I asked for a phone number where i could call him right back. He said there was no such number and I hung up on him. I then called my local office of Time Warner and they told me there were no issues and no one had called from TWC.

same message; Time Warner.. same Indian guy ... I told him not to call here anymore, and he asked: "why?
DUH.  When we request they no longer call us, don't they have to abide by that?

I keep receiving calls from this number - but no one answers or says anything.  I have reported them also on the Do Not Call Registry.

I got a call from 844 740 0173 they are trying to tell me they are from Hotmail.com tech. They say they are getting error reports for my Hotmail account and want access to my computer to fix the problem. Also telling me the anti virus is not compatible with my computer. I thought something was funny bout the call. Hung up on them. After reading all of the responces from this number I was right. Thank you everyone for reporting. Was a indian/Pak. Accent man I could hardly understand. Told them that from what I read on the connection support that if anyone calls and you do not trust or vaify them. Do not give them access to your computer. He wanted to disconnect from the phone. I hung up on him.

Someone with Indian accent called saying he was from AT&T and they are receiving complaints about my husband's e-mail address  (the main address on our account). He said there must be something wrong with our security and he wanted us to log in and let him take command so he could fix the problem. I told him that we would not do that and would contact AT&T to see if it was legitimate. He said he understood that there were many security threats and to please call back to his number to verify. He didn't give up even when I told him that I never trust anyone who phones asking us to do anything like this. Similar to Chris McConnell post above.

indian guy called said he was from gmail and there were errors on my computer they wanted walk me thru so I wouldn't get hacked when I asked the guy to send me an email verifying he was from gmail he got another guy on the phone and they said they would send email and hung up I guess they figured I wasn't gonna let them into my laptop thru a remote internet service they were using citrix online

They called stating they are from "Gmail" and that I am generating spam and want to walk me through steps (through Window's Event Viewer". They would not give a customer ID (which I have as we are a gmail corporate user). I asked to speak with a supervisor and after being on hold for 2 seconds the same guy came back with a differnt name. Pathetic.

Received a call from this number.  The individual had a strong Indian accent.  He advised that he was from Yahoo and wanted my email for verification.  I hung up.  He tried to call me again.  I blocked his call.

Yesterday received a call from 946-896-0210 on my land line from a man with Indian/Pakistan accent saying he was from Microsoft and that they were receiving "signals" from my computer that told them I had been HACKED.  They wanted me to download "TeamViewer" which is a program used to remotely control someone else's computer.  I called my nephew who is a computer "geek" and he said that Microsoft NEVER calls you, you have to call them!!

Today, I have now been receiving calls from this 844 # where they hang up when I answer (6 or 7 in all).  When I try to call the number back I get a recording saying it is not a good number and try again.  I KNOW that these people are now trying to harass me since I shut them down yesterday.  From all of the posts I see now about this 844#, these people NEED TO BE REPORTED!!!

Got 5 calls from 844-740-0173 I answered the last one today. some "Indian"dude says he is calling from Time Warner and they are seeing lots of error messages from my email acct.I said I see no errors.he wanted to tell me how to check for errors,I asked How do I know he is from Time Warner.he offered to give me His employee badge number I said thats of no use to me. He asked well what should he do? I said "The same thing I'm going to do.Hang Up.and I did.What an A__H____

getting calls 2 to 3 times daily. If you answer it just clicks and goes dead. If you ring back it says the line is no longer in service. Annoying

Called me twice, I didn't answer the phone. By reading these posts now I'm positive I won't be answering the phone.

The # 509-844-740-0173 had tried to call me 10 times since 12/14/13.  They leave no messages and I don't answer calls that I don't know...I would like to report them please, they call all times and all days, even as early as Sunday mornings at 9:00 ish.
Upon reading some of the comments it is a company claiming to be Charter Communications but is not Charter, they are trying to sell cable.

This is a group trying to hack your Internet. They pose as your cable provider. When I asked why they where they were calling from,they stated that they were from Canada, but the area code does not match any Canadian area codes. If you call the number back, it says you dialed an invalid code.

The accent of the telemarketer is of Asian origin, possibly Indian. Do not do as they ask, and contact your provider. My Internet provider suspected they wanted to mirror my computer and complete illegal activity off of the IP address.  

Same thing, got someone from India or Pakistan with a bad accent telling me something about roadrunner, reported them to Road runner now I get calls and no one answers, if you call it back its an invalid number,

I received a call from this number today claiming that Time Warner Cable is doing maintenance work in my area and they need to upgrade my modem to make my internet faster.  They wanted numbers from my modem. I refused and I contacted Time Warner Cable Tech Dept. and there is no maintenance work being done in my area.  They also confirmed that 1-844-740-0173 is not one of the numbers that belongs to them.  If you get one of these calls, they said to report it to them so they can investigate the call.

Received a phone call from an Indian that the server was running slow. I asked who he represented and reply was Time Warner which is obviously false. I cut the conversation and warned him that anymore calls I will report to the FCC then hung up.

Call claims to be from Charter Communications, not Charter, and not stupid, and trying to sell me software to make the internet go faster.  Like I am some kind of idiot.
