I got the Greenfield BS myslef form this number and the same story as Annoyed. I have blocked this number on my phone. I never call back a number unless they say exactly what they are calling about... And I noticed that someone else posted that this number is coming from India and a voice over is used to make it sound American.  Would not doubt that....

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

? filed under: Press Release

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I was sitting in the courthouse jury selection area (my number finally came up) and I felt my phone vibrate. I looked and saw this same number. My first thought was "844? Where is that? Is it a toll-free number? Telemarketers, maybe?" When I finally finished jury duty, sure enough, I had the same message from Greenfield Processing. I'm glad I Googled the number. It seemed really fishy to me that the part of the message that had my actual name was a robot voice. Some machine must call all the numbers on their list automatically.

I just got the same message the lady Liz said it was loan from 2009 but I know in 2009 I never took no loan out. She didnt want to give me the details of it. She said its gonna go to small claims court. I mentioned im not workin. I just had a baby nine months ago but I can pay 20.00 dollars til my payment wass paid off. She didnt want to except that she said the minum I can pay is 100.00 but a real debt collector would accept my payment cause at least its something. And then to top it off they dont want to accept my prepaid card only bank card. Thats strike three. They got me messed up.

A Woman called Me stating that I owed a debt from a Cash Net Company of $1,545.55. She repeated My S.S# and DOB and ask if I still worked at the company i worked for? Of course i didnt give her what she wanted and I ask who was it on the line and what was her name? Shw stated her name was Liz O'Neil and she was a claim representative with Greenfield Processing. She stated that there was a case agauinst me that was in its preliminary statge and wanted to know if I wanted to resolve this before action is moved against me and they start taking money from Me out of My wages. I told her that I dont remember taking a loan out for Cash Net and if I did, I would have to look into it and check with my Attorney cause I dont remember oweing this amount to anyone. She just kept saying, what do you want to do? I need to know before I make My decision to turn over Your case and gave Me case#60232048. I immediately became suspicious and look the number up for scam: 1-844-798-3799 and her number:1-912-330-2490 and of course alot of people were stating that this was a Debt Collecting Scam and that the same person called them to get them to resolve a so called debt that was owed or due.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I received the same message from  Greenfield Processing.  My advice ignore this message.  This is all about fraud.
List this number on your blocked numbers and then they cannot call you.  I received these kinds of calls once every two
or three months.  Do not engage these people nor call them back.  Best to ignore.

6/12/14 at 10:53 am there was a recorded message from Greenfeild processing saying it was a claim filed against me which is in the preliminary stages. There was a file number left and wanted me to call back 844-798-3799 to speak to someone. There are too many scams out here, so if it was real important, they can send me whatever it is though the mail. I will not give out any personal information over the phone.
