I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THE SAME NUMBER AND DEMANDED I GIVE THEM A  PAYMENT FROM A PAYDAY LOAN I HAD NOT PAID BACK OR A WARRENT FOR MY ARREST WILL BE ISSUED I NEDDED TO PAY AT LEAST 50 % OF 798.18.

Wait, so this isn't a real thing? I received a call today about this and I don't know what to do. Is it a scam?

May 13: just had this message left on my answering machine - from JACOB MORRIS @ 845.262.3481, telling me I am a "primary suspect in a legal case against me" and that "officers were going to arrest me and take me into custody", and "do not ignore this call!". Seriously!!??!! How is this kind of call not considered a threat, and why aren't these people arrested themselves for this fraudulent scam? There must be something that can be done to legally punish and stop them!??

I got the same call. Speaking about a warrant and the police coming to arrest me. Interesting....law enforcement doesn't call you and tell you they are coming. If it's a payday loan you can do a judgment against me but not arrest me. It not illegal to be in default on bills. Many people would be in jail because of this.  Also if you file bankruptcy they won't get paid anyway. Now let's see if their company like a lawsuit for threats and harassment....that's good for a couple of grand!

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received this call from a man named Jacob Morris he said he was with Cooper' Law Firm in Long Beach California said I borrowed money from some payday loan place and I owed them $998.00 which they could not even get my address correct he said police would come to my house and arrest me he did not have much information to tell me just wanted my attorney's information I told him to get a real job and stop harassing innocent people

I received the same call, by a man named Jacob Morris, said he had a warrant for my arrest, the police were coming. I ask for what. He said a debt for Cash Advance of America. I told him I have never been to a Cash Advance, He ask if I had a attorney needed to get on asap! Once again I told him I new nothing about a debt from Cash Advance of America. Then hung up the phone.

i just got the same call,,i let it go to voice mail since i did not recognize the number. Then when i played it back and this young sounding guy explained that i would have a team of officers come and arrest me,so i called him back and he answered by "hello'. i asked what it was all about and he said i had taken out a pay day loan and had not paid it back but he could not tell me where i had taken it out at. I asked if Ny officers were coming to arrest me or my local officers,,he said local. I also asked him the name of the law firm he represented and it was Cooper Law Firm out of Longbeach NY. He asked if i had an attorney and i said yes and would be calling her to give her this info... I tried to get more info from him but he hung up. little lazy bast***,,get a damn job and stop this crooked garbage.

Just got the same call and it says to leave a message and a contact number, which I did not. Seems hinky to me too!

Just got the same call!!

A male called from this number, it was a threat about a warrant , and police coming to to my home. They did not call me by name, but it upset me. I know they had the wrong person, but I did not appreciate the call. I called the number back, but a recording said, a password must be used to complete the call.

I got the same call on Monday and this guy said the same thing that I was a suspect in a criminal investigation and if I didn't call him back they were going to put out a warrant for my arrest and hold me for 24-48 hrs. He told same thing only way to stop it was to go get a Greendot Money pack for $100 and call and give him the scratch-off number on the back. Needless to say I didn't get the money pack and they get nothing. I called the number and the same guy answered the phone with no company greeting.

Got a call from 845-262-3481. The call went  to voicemail and all I heard was something about officers being sent and this matter being investigated. I returned the call and asked who this was and what company did he represent. I was put on hold and no one came back to the line. No one answers now. The number rings and is answered by something that sounds like you are automatically put on hold.

The exact same message for the umpteenth time over the past 2 years.  My attorney has contacted the Attorney General's office of my state and has made a number of contacts to stop the harrassment. But as long as there are people who actually call back and send money out of fear, there is little to stop these calls--pretty clever use of multiple phone numbers, area codes, and even local area code numbers to scare me.  We're learning to answer the phone only when we recognize a legitimate caller.

I got the exact same message.  This is some type of bill collector scam.

This guy called and I didn't recognize the number or area code so I let it go to VM. The message was great. It was a real person speaking not a recording. But the idiot apparently doesn't even know how voice mail as he was already well into his message by the time it actually recording.  But it picked up with "will send a team of officers down to arrest you and take you to custody for more investigation. So you need to make sure to call us back. don't disregard this message and have a safe day."

What a dumb a**.
