Last week I received in excess of 70 calls within a 72 hours period, all looking for a Brandy Fletcher.  In every case it was some type of payday loan company.  All with a heavy Indian accent.  These are the most annoying calls you can receive and they are nothing but scum sucking bottom feeders with nothing better to do than bother honest hard working people!!!!!

These extortionists are very convincing, which makes their scam so successful---in addition to the fact it is next to impossible to track them down because they are either using disposable cell phones or spoofing numbers and the names of firms utilizing VOIP to make them appear they are legitimate.Your best protection against becoming another victim of these criminals is to educate yourselves with the following facts (straight from the FTC's website):

A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Ah, and I failed to mention, he called back once after that day - about a month later. Same guy asking for same employee, and I laughed out loud. He got really irrate right off the bat and I said, you must not remember me! Do you really want to go through this again? Cause I don't have a problem doing that.
He hung up. Haven't heard from him since.

We have just received a call from this phone number asking for an employee.
I explain he does not have an extension and I would like to take a message.
The person on the other end of the line repeated himself 4 times for each word as he left the message.
I can hear the other callers in the background. I have been through this before, with people who have an accent just like this one (but from the number 1-855-829-6092 and asking for a different employee). I know right where this is headed. He will call back every day for a while . He will get tired of me not giving him what he wants. He will start to call twice a day, and when I don't acquiesce, he will resort to calling me over and over in a row, and then he will use a call repeater to fill my open lines with calls. He will swear at me, and call me 'stupid lady' (oh man, shakin in my boots) and when I still don't give him what he wants he will back down to calling just once a day again, and then forget that we went through all this and threaten to 'jam my lines' to which I just say "BRING IT". Two hours long we did this. He flooded my lines, I picked them all up and hung them all up immediately - all the while answering the phone like normal. Guess who won? Yeah, that's right, me. By the time I was done, I had 4 employees standing here, laughing at his ridiculousness. Their method stems from a third grade education and lack of intelligence.

I received a call, could not understand his accent so asked him to repeat slowly, he apologized and began again just like at first. He told me, from what I could understand, that I qualified for a $3000 loan. He said I needed to pay $198 'insurance money' and it would be deposited into my account in 10 minutes. When I asked who he represented he told me he was registered with the BBB and worked for PayDayUSA. He had my SS#, name, address, bank name and even my checking account #. I asked him how he got it and was told that I had applied for a loan online and he was responding. I told him I had not applied for any loan and asked him if this was another scam and he started yelling and talking really fast and kept it up for about two minutes straight, said I had better not ever apply for another loan online or he would report me and I would be arrested. I hung up on him and he tried calling 3 more times within just a few minutes.
I am having my cell shut off because I have received at least numerous calls like this from California and NewYork, also dozens of calls also saying I would be arrested like some of the other messages I read on here from calls from this #.

I received a call from this number exactly 16 minutes after receiving a call from 516-515-7683. Like the other person, this person had a very thick Indian (?) accent. He said the message was for a female -not of my name- and that she should call back to speak to a loan officer about a loan she applied for online.

I'm guessing by the other posts I've read from both phone numbers that they are not going to stop calling for a while and they try from different phone numbers.

My suggestions:
1) DO NOT answer a call from a phone number you do not recognize. I even do this at work even though these calls came to my cell phone.

2) DO NOT leave a personalized message on your voicemail if you can help it. My cell phone voicemail recording only repeats the phone number they are going to leave a message for - which is information they already have.

3) DO FILE A COMPLAINT on the National Do Not Call website: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx if your number is registered.

I have gotten 32 calls from this number in the last 2 days. I usually just decline the call. Today I chose to answer.  This man who could barely speak English told me he was representing some lawyers firm, he needed my lawyers info, I was being sued for not paying a pay day loan. I told him to quit calling, He became very rude and threating. I hung up. He immediately called back.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I was called at work and told by a man claiming to be Alex Rogers. He said I owed $949.38  and I would be arrested if I did not pay this money by close of business today. He said I had applied for 12 pay day loans and had to pay fees totaling 949.38. He had my social security number and bank account number. My wife called back and he told her that your husband knows what he has to do not to be arrested. Also said if I did not pay I would be arrested and have to pay over $4000.00 .

On Friday May 3rd  I received a phone call at my place of work from a man with a Indian accent telling me to contact attorney Alex Roger because there were legal charges pressed against me with my name and social security #. I was taken by surprise at the moment wondering what was going on. The gentleman claimed I applied for 17 payloan which I didn't and that a sheriff will come to my house the following morning. Me being naive asked how can I avoid jail time? He insisted I pay $946 and if I don't I would have to pay 5,000 for court fees. I told him I will call him back. I called  My boyfriend told him what had happened. So he called Alex Roger and to my surprise Mr Roger gave my boyfriend all my information! If he were a lawyer, what happened to confidently? Turns out this b*****d was a freaking scam artist!!  My boyfriend called him back and Alex Roger hinged up on him. These b*****ds need to get caught, if they could get me sick at that moment imagine a poor senior citizen
