It is definitely a scam. It is impossible for any tech support company to be receiving error messages from your computer unless you are already a client and they installed special monitoring software as part of their support package. Any "tech support" company that cold calls you claiming they have received error messages from your computer or they have received reports that there are viruses on your computer is nothing but a scam operation. Furthermore, Microsoft does not ever initiate tech support calls to end users and does not partner with any third parties to cold call users. Nothing in the error reports that you allow to be sent to Microsoft identifies you or your computer and the data can only be used to correct errors in Windows or other Microsoft Applications. The data cannot be used to diagnose problems on your computer unrelated to errors in Microsoft products.

A caller identifying himself as a Microsoft technician named Michael Clark called me from 845-459-0035 and said he was from Instant Tech Support. He said my computer was sending out warning messages and wanted me to go to my computer so he could help me fix it. He said he was calling from New York and that they have offices in Florida and Washington D.C. as well. He gave me a number to call him back as 786-600-1685. I did not return his call. I am not having any issues with my computer. This smells like a scam to me.

Just got a call from (845) 459-0335 saying they were getting errors from my computer. They claim to be from Microsoft. We had a friend who let them into his computer which locked up everything. He spent big bucks having a computer repair shop clean his computer. They want your personal information. They were rude and so were we. I am on the "do not call" list and filed this number with them. Hope they shut them down soon. Tired of getting these calls. Do not answer any call from Spring Valley, NY area code 845.

You may want to reconsider that. I read where a person did that and the caller started giving out their phone number as an opt out number to call. The phone company did change their number for them at no charge.

These people have been calling me for months. I once read that the way to get rid of a "breather" type caller was to keep a whistle by the phone and blast it really hard when they call. May have to get one!

Middle Eastern voice says he's with the United States Technical Dept. I told him my phone was being tapped and he hung up immediately.. Same phone number called my 2 weeks ago and said he was with Microsoft, and he wanted to help me with a problem I wasn't having.. The number he calls from is 845-459-0335.

They say they are Microsoft engineers calling to tell me my computer is sending out bad information. They use different numbers, different names, and call almost every weekday. I continue to ask them to remove our number. I just filed a complaint with the FTC. Sick of these people!

I'm also getting the same thing from this number: 80-088-4777. Yep, there's a number missing. They say the same thing, except this Chinese/Japanese man ARGUES with you. I have told him I have recorded him, I told him I have called the police, and of couse, reported him to the government, and he has STILL yelled at me that he needs to fix my computer.

It's a scam...I called Microsoft and they told me they never call people to notify them of any problems with your computer..they want your personal info. I told them many times I know it's a scam and to stop calling but they still did. I finally called my phone company and they blocked the number for free so no more annoying calls.

Number has called dozens of times in past two weeks. No message. Finally picked up to a person that could not speak English. I was able to have him transfer me to supervisor 'Ray Gibson' - obviously fake name who also could barely speak English. He said company was based in Miami.

We have had at least 65 phone calls from the same entity. The caller purports to be a Microsoft engineer who wants to help me with my nonexistent Microsoft computer software problem. This is a scam.

This number calls at least once a day.

Calls 1-2 times a week usually at night. Indian or Pakistani Microsoft engineer telling me my computer is sending out errors. My computer is offline and I don't use any Microsoft parts or software.
Probably either selling or phishing.
