Not only is this a scam number, but is a scam that has been ongoing for years. They're based out of Bangladesh and routing through US numbers now. I kept them on the phone by playing along to learn how they were doing it in more detail. First they have you look up a list of all the error messages that you've received in the last six months and tell you that those are actually incursions from hackers. They attempt to have you download a program to give them remote access to your computer. Then they charge you money to fix imaginary faults. I didn't actually download the program, of course, because I knew about the scam, but simply wanted to see what commands they had me use. I reported the number to the authorities. I really dislike this scam. They've contacted me four times now, always from a new phone number, and think that I'd really believe they work for Microsoft (latest version) but the company doesn't remember them.

Good catch, the funny part was how can you tell a "windows computer" have a virus and it is not even on. Boy they think folks can not tell that Windows is a operating system and not a hardware computer? Very hilarious indeed.
