why are they calling they 4-5 times a day leaving a message saying to call "THE FIRM" I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND CAN'T HELP THINKING ABOUT TOM CRUISE IN "THE FIRM" HA HA HA 845-678-6275 IS THE NUMBER THEY LEFT WITH A FILE NUMBER. THE NUMBER ON THE CALLER ID IS 845-678-4500, WHEN YOU CALL THAT BACK IT SAY YOUR NUMBER CAN NOT BE COMPLETED AT DIALED?

The same thing happened to me.  When you call back and ask to speak with someone at the firm, a man identifies himself as respresenting Hall and Associates Law Office.  He states the firm represents a security check firm.  When I demanded to know what the call was about he said it was confidential.  He then proceeded to say that they could not find my name nor number in their records so it must be a wrong number.  Sounds very suspicous to me.  Don't even return the call and provide any info.

the same sorta thing has happened to my girlfriend, exspet that the call wasnt for my girlfriend it was for some women names anita travis(we have been getting calls for her since we go the phone almost a year ago). but what was so strange to me is that im orignaly from the 845 area code and the 678 almost matches my hometown witch is crazy(i live in tn now witch is 850 miles away)!! but never the less the message said that is was hall and associates law offices and it was an urgent message. anyways now i know its all bs thanks yall.

Hall & Assoc. Law Firm is so annoying that I plan to stop by my police department to see what I can do to get them off my back.  Twice today their "representatives" hung up on me after I kept insisting that no one named Feldman lived at my place.  I've had this phone number for years but they say it's a recent number for this Feldman.
Besides filing a complaint has anyone suggestions on how to get rid of these low-life con artist?

P.S.  when I called back they were VERY RUDE and keep asking me about this Cindy person and why would she give them this phone #? I told him I don't know who this person is! I've have this phone # for 12 yrs! I ended up hanging up on the guy he was so rude - after I told him to quit calling and I'd file harrassment charges!  (can I do that?)

they left an urgant message looking for me at my folks house (i havent lived there in over 12 years). i called them back curious,of course these people were rude, guy named George James they stated i owe them 220$ for columbia house cds or dvd then when i asked from when they said 2003 ...still didnt live at my parents then and then i asked what movies and they said their records didnt say it was too far back for them to look up

I just got a call about this bs too.  They asked for some person I never heard of.  I was this doesn't even sound real and I hung up.

Very Nasty Woman "Mary" Called About Me Owing Columbia House Some Money ($160.00) From 2004. She says they sent a letter (last year) but I never recieved it. However I was able to get contact information for columbia house and I will be calling them.

I just got two calls from this number. Of course, called back the 845-678-6200 and finally talked to a rep, Kate Barnie. Very Rude person. She was not listening, but only ASK & DEMAND me to answer her questions. Of course she asks the same question 5 times... I was trying to help her with some commments, but then she said 'Have a nice day' and she just hung up the phone.
Stay away from this collection agency~!!!

After receiving harrassing calls for about 9 weeks, I finally Googled their tel number, whereupon I found that many others are being similarly bothered.
The person usually answering 845-678-8275 is a very nasty lady using the name "Rose".
After reading over all the complaints on Google, I took one suggestion and called their main office number, 845-678-6200. I was directed to a person (not as ugly as Rose, but certainly not pleasant). She took my tel # and said it would be removed from their system. Then she tried to convince me that they got my number from their case files. I'm sure they just picked it out of the phone book because our last name and initial was the same as the person they're looking for.
Anyhow, I hope this works, for they are extremely annoying and persistent bunch.

Very nasty woman calls several times a day and insists I have been contacted by mail which I haven't - she tells me I owe $236. for a debt with Columbia House from 2004. Refuses to itemize what this is for etc. saying "you know what it is for Laura" in a tone mindful of my mother. Even if I legitimately owed the money I wouldn't pay this place due to the tactics they employ.  Have never recieved a thing from them or CH in the mail and out of the blue here they come.  What is next for me?  Today she leaves me a message that this is "the last call."

2 calls with in 10 minutes of each other. Called and spoke with Manager Tom and he did not seem to give a crap.  Just wanted to know if the person that they were trying to get in touch with was there.

You've been had, why in your right mind would you send any money without proper justification? simply DO NOT give them any info, if they were legit they would have had the specifics without you having to give out any info at all, this is why they keep doing this kind of crap because they make money from poeple like yourself, always work directly with whom ever you owe monwy to......Allways....

They're asking for someone who doesn't live here! (Which is a dorm, by the way.) They left a message leaving a phone number, and a case number: 6115415 if anyone wants it, lol. 5th time so far. In the meantime, they can go pack sand.

I received several calls from these people and finally called them back. The man who answered was very rude and some of the things he said sent some red flags up so I researched this "Law Firm". Turns out it is a collection agency in NY that buys up very old debts for pennies on the dollar and tries to collect on them. They use intimidation tactics to get people to pay. They will say things like "We are prepared to pursue further action"... a little ambiguous to say the least. The only further actions they seem to be prepared to pursue is to continue calling and harassing people. TheStik is right, best thing to do is get on the Do Not Call List.

JD, have you seen this link? http://tinyurl.com/2ae7hd I was originally going to file a grievance because I got about a dozen calls, but I got it under control through other means. In your case, it might be worthwhile.

These people are total A***OLES, and I have serious doubts as to the absolute legitamacy of their operation. I'm aware of a debt that I have pending, and made arrangements with them to settle it. However, when I send them payment, they REFUSE to send me ANY sort of receipt. When I pressed them to do so, I was given a story of "if we gave everyone reciepts, we would be broke..." Hmmmm...must not be doing a whole lot of "business" then, and one can generally even get a handwritten reciept from a yard sale. I told them to shove it, and take me to court, where I'll explain that they have forfeitted payment by refusing me a reciept.

Same experience as other writers - many mysterious calls regarding a case I know nothing about.

After receiving several calls, I ended up having to send an e-mail to their tech people. It turns out their automatic dialer acquired a lot of numbers not on the Do Not Call list. So first get on the Do Not Call list. If you're on it, still receive the calls and know you should not be reciving them, send an e-mail to mbaum@ehallassociates.com. I did this two months ago and haven't heard from them since.

I got 2 phone calls today from wanting me to call this law firm about a very important case regaurding me. I do not have any cases...Thought this was a scam, so I looked it up on here.

I got two calls in less than an hour asking me to call 845-678-6275.  I looked the number up on several "reverse" directories, and it seems to be a residential phone number on Long Island.

The person they asked for has the same last name as mine, but I don't think the first name was the same -- it was a computer generated voice, so it was pretty garbled, but it sounded nothing like "Susan."

And I have no outstanding debts that are in collection or about to go to collection.

Well, if I get any more calls from them, I'll know what to do (per the message above mine.)

If you are receiving unwanted calls from this number, this is what you can do to make them stop.  Call 845-678-6200 and tell them you are getting unwanted calls.  I was transferred 3 times at this firm, but eventually I spoke with a lady who asked for my number and took me off her phone list.  It takes 48 hours for you to stop receiving calls after you have done this.  What a relief.  If you want more information on the firm calling you, here it is:
