I received this same email this morning from Todd Jefferson. But they do have my correct social security number and the name of my employer. I have never took out any payday loans. I don't know how they got my information. I called my attorney and he said a debt collection is civil not criminal. they cannot come arrest you for not paying a debt. The guy Todd Jefferson was saying they were going to fax / email my employer to garnish my wages. The number on this email is 845-282-7010. It's not even the state attorneys office. This is a scam.

This jack*** is a huge joke - he, a lawyer supposedly answered my call and I told him I was returning his email about a warrant and he hung up on me. I called back and he hung up immediately. He must be a mental patient or on drugs. Either way what piece of crap life he has,

I received an email today from a Steele Lawfirm with a phoney arrest warrant attached that was "issued" by the United States Attorney General. The email had a few grammatical errors and misspellings. They instructed me to call 773-423-2036 right away to get the matter resolved. I knew this had to be a scam so to confirm my hunch I decided to call anyway.
Just as I had suspected, an Indian man or someone of middle eastern decent answered. I figured I would go ahead and humor the guy just to see what asinine excuse he could come up with for this supposed "arrest warrant."
Upon getting into the conversation, the man claimed that it was for a series cash advance loans that were never paid. I told him that I had never taken out any sort of cash advance loan. He said that I had 24 loans outstanding. I told him that it was ludicrous and again told him that I never took out a cash advance ever in my life. He then proceeded to tell me that there would be a government officer showing up at my door to arrest me tonight. I told him to send them and that I would be calling them myself and pressing charges for harassment. I told him that I personally work for the government on federally defaulted student loans and that I was well versed in the FDCPA laws. I told him that a person cannot be arrested for personal debt because there is no such thing as debtor jail, that it is illegal to falsely threaten legal action or to impersonate a government official and that they are also committing copyright infringement of a federal court document by falsely distributing them to unsuspecting victims in order to fraudulently scam people out of money. I further explained to him that all arrest warrents are served in person by a law enforcement officer and not sent via email. I told him that my call was being recorded and that I was reporting him and his company to the FBI for investigation and that not only do I have the recording but also the bogus email that was sent. He replied that he was going to call homeland security on me. I laughed at him and asked if he even knew what that agency was for. When he realized that he was fighting a losing battle, he then proceeded to yell profanities at me and say inappropriate things about me and our beautiful proud country. I laughed at the babbling idiot and told him to go to hell along with a few other choice words and hung up the phone when I was done telling him what I thought about him and his financial scamming on the hard-working US citizens.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I got the same email that every one else did but the number they used for me is 1-845-277-9020 and i do have unpaid payday loans that was the only reason i believed it and unfortunately paid the $100.00 that he said would stop the warrent until i make my next payment and then when i got off the phone and calmed down i started looking things up because they didn't make sense like why i had to go get a green dot money pack instead of using my debit card he said because i was associated with frauding a bank. One more thing he said i only had 4 hrs to pay it that should also have been a sign.yes i should have known better

The police don't normally spell words incorrectly on arrest warrants either. Mine was labeled "warrent". And "United State" attorney was funny too. And the logo on the phony warrant looked like a child traced it.
I called back (it was a Maryland number) and some call center clown with a heavy accent answered. There was heavy chatter in the background too. It couldn't possibly be any more of a scam, I mean it's laughably obvious. DO NOT fall for this con, please!!! I know it seems impossible that anyone would believe it was real, but if you do, relax, it's not.

I received the same email today with warrant attached only this time Mike Andersin claimed to be from District Attorneys office in Virginia. I called and Mr. Anderson hung up on me as well. The number he gave this time was 703 659 8010. This must be one powerful man (NOT) to be in the district attorneys office in so many states. This borders harassment.
